Simi Posted 20 March 2008 Posted 20 March 2008 Fifa have urged the Football Association to 'reconsider' the decision not to increase Martin Taylor's ban for his challenge on Eduardo da Silva.Birmingham City defender Taylor has completed a three-match suspension for the tackle which left Arsenal striker Eduardo facing at least nine months on the sidelines with a broken leg and dislocated ankle. But Fifa president Sepp Blatter recently criticised Taylor and intimated that a suitable punishment would be for a player to serve a suspension commensurate to the length of the injured player's absence. Following calls from Fifa to up Taylor's ban, the FA responded by saying it would be a 'dangerous precedent to set' and that it would be unable to prove there was any intent in the challenge. The FA also asked for a meeting with Fifa to discuss the matter, although no date has been fixed for a get-together. Having reviewed the situation, Fifa have sent a letter back to the FA requesting that they 'once again review the incident in detail and reconsider the situation'. Taylor has apologised for his tackle on Eduardo and has received the backing of his Birmingham team-mates. Sky Sports I would say that Ashley Cole's tackle yesterday was just as bad if not worse than Taylors tackle. Yet I doubt Fifa will be worried about that as it didn't cause a serious injury. Nor will the FA bother because of that bollocks ruling that you can't punish further if the Ref takes action in the game. It's blatantly obvious that the rules are crooked and need looking at. Letting Ashley Cole get away with the tackle he did yesterday should not be allowed.
Samilktray Posted 20 March 2008 Posted 20 March 2008 The way the Martin Taylor/Eduardo incident keeps being brought up is getting ridiculous now.
Fat Ron Posted 20 March 2008 Posted 20 March 2008 If Blatter watched the incident properly he would have noticed that Taylor had his eyes on the ball at all times, therefore there was no intent to deliberatly hurt Eduardo and he was simply too slow into the challenge. If the FA stuck longer bans for every tackle such as this (Injury occuring or not) it would take the physical aspect away from the game. Blatter is a complete bell end.
Mikey Posted 20 March 2008 Posted 20 March 2008 What a load of BS. There was no intent to hurt Eduardo. Also, every time there is a bad tackle, this gets brought up. Ridiculous.
Joe. Posted 20 March 2008 Posted 20 March 2008 Jesus christ there's tackles like Taylor's everywhere you look at the moment all over the world. Just **** off Blatter.
Durnerz Posted 20 March 2008 Posted 20 March 2008 Blatter just see's it as another avenue to make football a non-contact sport.
accessory Posted 20 March 2008 Posted 20 March 2008 I suspect FIFA have been put under pressure by the Croatian FA. But their hands are tied. If Taylor was given a further ban the brummies could sue the asses of the FA and/or FIFA, especially if they ended up being relegated.

When it comes to putting Global Footballing Association's nosesa out of joint FIFA don't wish to upset the richest F.A of them all The F.A. The croats can sing all day and night as far as the politicians in FIFA are concerned. I think FIFA believe they are standing for the beautiful game, when actually all they are doing is showing how out of touch they are with the game its self when they start a witch hunt over a tackle which was late and unfortunate.
Daggers Posted 20 March 2008 Posted 20 March 2008 I'd like to wank all over Sepp Blatter. Oddly, Sepp Blatter sounds like the noise you'd make if you did wank all over him.
