Louis Dodds.

I can't believe, three years on, we're still having topics called Louis Dodds containing endless paragraphs about young players.

Maybe we should stick "play the ****ing kids" on the flag. Four words and they'd have a damn sight more influence than the 400,000 we've had on this godforsaken youth team.

"Loanees forever" would be fewer words and perhaps more appropriate.

I'd take that bet anytime on a game for game basis. Trouble is I doubt Dodds will get the games.

Fryatt has been poor for two seasons, not one. He remains popular despite contributing so little whereas Dodds is pretty well dismissed, sometimes by people who I'd doubt have ever seen him play.

I've already said I think Fryatt might do okay in Division One but Dodds has a greater range as a striker from what I've seen.

Fryatt seems quite limited. He rarely scores from long range, or from headers, or free-kicks delivered or attempted himself.

Dodds on the other hand is pretty good with free-kicks and is a threat from a wide range of situations.

As for the difference in standard, it'll be one division. And Dodds got far more goals from midfield last season than Fryatt scored as a striker and I didn't see Leicester's "standard" as being anything special.

Not that I'm touting anyone at this stage - it depends on who's signed and their form at the time, at least that's what you'd hope although you never know at Leicester.

Fine! The bet is on! I will enjoy taking the money off you if i can but doubt it will happen because dodds wont come back, fryatt might leave to.

But even if dodds stays in div 2 and fryatt joins someone else in div 1 or championship i will take bet, i agree fryatt as been off form but he will score more goals than Dodds whatever next season.

Put your money where your mouth is if you can afford it.

£100 for winner! or more if you fancy, lets see how much you rate dodds now!!!

Normally I bet on here for a couple of beers or suchlike because it seems a little more in the friendly spirit of the forum and because, not knowing the age of whoever's betting against me, it seems more appropriate.

However I'll happily accept a couple of pints of Barbar's against £10 that Dodds scores more goals next season than Fryatt in whatever League they play.

Well this may be one of the positives of relegation. Removal of the higher wage earners with less invested in new signings meaning more of the youngsters will be given a chance (possibly, time will tell). I can see Worley, Stearman, Mattock, Gradel, Porter and Wesolowski playing a fair few games next season for the first team, if they stay at the club, but then below them King, A. Chambers and Sappleton playing bigger roles than they have done in the last campaign. That's me being realistic and there's nine names of youngsters who I think will play decent parts for us next season providing they stay. It's too early to say really but I'm optimistic that the 9 I've named have got what it takes to contribute next season and I think that can only be a good thing for the club.

Stearman and Mattock will probably move on, but the others, with proper guidance, could be a nucleus of a promising team.

Let's hope so - we've waited long enough for one to emerge.

Ok then, a couple of beers it is!

Will enjoy drinking them at a game near the end of the season!

Errrmmm... Trev's ratio is better but he was a sub for many more games than he actually started! But 11 goals in 44 starts in League 2 is poor but he's been playing in midfield so... :dunno:

Benjamin can score goals, and has proved that in all three divisions below the Premiership.

Dodds has played a mixture of games upfront and in midfield - all I'm trying to point out is that good 'ol Trev knows where the back of the net is in the lower leagues, despite being shoved from pillar to post.

That's not saying I'd want Trev back now, but I don't think Dodds is the answer.

I'd agree with you there  Trev can score when given a chance and Dodds is no way the answer next season. He will be a decent player but probably only a squad player.

I don't think anyone has claimed Dodds is "the" answer.

My bet is simply that he will score more than Benjamin next season.

I find it impossible to decide how effective Dodds would be in our first team seeing he's never been given a chance and scored his goals for Lincoln last season from midfield.

It surprises me, for the most part, that he still seems to want a contract here and, if he gets one, I'm sure he will start way down the pecking order despite my belief that he's an easy player to under-estimate and his goals contribution would definitely beat that of several strikers we've used these recent months.

One thing he won't do is let anyone down like some of our shirt wearers have this season. Beyond that it would be up to him - if he ever got a fair opportunity which I frankly doubt.

I think the saddest thing in all this is that players such as Junior Lewis and Trevor Benjamin have had their chance to grace the blue shirt but lads who are born and bred through the academy, have had thousands invested in them by the club (ultimately the fans' money) and have given the club their commitment and youth are shunned on an alarmingly regular basis.

Leicester City midfielder Louis Dodds is wanted by several clubs as he considers his future at the Walkers Stadium.

Dodds has spent the season on loan at Lincoln City, but has been offered a new one-year deal by Leicester.

Lincoln are among the clubs keen on offering the youngster a fresh start and Dodds' agent Tam Byrne admits the player is weighing up his options.

Byrne told the Leicester Mercury: "Louis is at the age where he needs to be playing on a regular basis, but there is no guarantee that would happen if he stays where he is.

Doubtful

"So, if you were to ask me what are the chances of him remaining with Leicester, I would have to say it's doubtful, although you cannot rule anything out.

"After what he achieved with Lincoln last season, there have been a dozen clubs all wanting to be informed of his situation.

"I certainly think they have all been impressed with what they have seen from him.

"But, out of all the interested parties, Lincoln would certainly be the favourites to sign him, purely because, if you ask Louis, he really enjoyed his time there.

"He was playing regularly and he scored goals, and that will be a critical factor in any decision he makes."
