Manwell Pablo Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 I've descided to abuse Dodds over the summer on facebook. It's going to be my new pastime now the football season has finished.

Webbo Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 I think the core of our quality youngsters will start to break up and go separate ways unless we act quickly and appoint a manager who they trust and who will show some faith in them.Even now it may be too late and that was one of the main reasons I wish we'd replaced Holloway weeks ago. Loyalty is important and I hope our young players show some but I really doubt that people at such an important stage of their careers and development will want to go backwards. I still wonder if Mandaric was as much party to the obsession with experience as Holloway but he never comes clean about it. If we get rid of Holloway and his backroom staff, the new manager will know even less about Dodds. The chances of him staying would be slim to zero.
Eastern Fox Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 If we get rid of Holloway and his backroom staff, the new manager will know even less about Dodds. The chances of him staying would be slim to zero. Why? The youth team coaches, people like John Rudkin, must be aware of Dodds progress on loan too, and they've been here for much longer than Holloway. Dodds went on loan in July, Holloway arrived in late November.
Les-TA-Jon Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 I agree with everyone - youth development around the older players like Hume/Fryatt/Clemance should be the way forward. But let's not forget League 1 is a competitive league. Full to the brim with teams desperate to leave it. No one in League 1 wants to be in it. Some people have been talking as if we're playing in a reserve league next season and every match will be a showcase for our brilliant team. In reality it'll be fiercly competed and any level of complacancy will see us stay in that division.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 One thing can be said about Dodds and that is that he's never been given a fair crack of the whip here, but has consistently performed on loan duties. He deserves a chance.
Jack Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Give the lad a chance, all the shit that have played for us he can't be no worse, surely ?
Thracian Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 In a good side Dodds has the potential to score you around 10-12 goals a season, bearing in mind that his tally with Lincoln was all scored from midfield. I'd say Fryatt could manage the same with Hume likely to score more (15-18) and Hammond, again, around the same as Fryatt and Dodds. I honestly don't know how good Campbell would be but potentially very good would be my guess. The competition should keep everyone sharp but I see no reason, with wingers like Gradel, Bell, Beswick and, hopefully, Porter that we'd run short of goals.

If Dodds wasn't on loan from us this season then I doubt alot of sceptics would be so negative towards him. In fact, they'd probably see him as a "worth a punt" transfer. I think that the key for him this season (should he still be with us) is pre-season. That usually gives a fair representation of whos favoured and whos not, although Odhiambo had a decent one and finds himself warming the bench now up at Dundee.

Dodds was injured last pre-season and, with so many new arrivals, barely got any sort of chance. .
The People's Hero Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Dodds problem is a mystery but so many managers have not 'fancied' him at CCC level, it does make you wonder. Having said that, we're league one now. We just need some sh it to make up the numbers.
Scow Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 I'd guarantee Trev would score more than Dodds in this division.
The People's Hero Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Trev would score more than anyone in this division. Bazza aspires to be Trev but falls short. Way short.

It seems to be compulsory at Leicester.

The People's Hero Posted 8 May 2008 Posted 8 May 2008 You've made a habit of countering points that people aren't making. I never said it was the RIGHT decision not to give Dodds a chance. I said it was a mystery why so many hadn't fancied him whilst the likes of COG, Chambers, Odihambo have been given a go (of sorts) and pointed out that you might argue there is no smoke without fire. Trying being a bit objective for a change, before wading in with your blinkered nonsence.
Vardinhio Posted 8 May 2008 Posted 8 May 2008 I spoke to him on Facebook chat the other day. He said he hopes he'll be offered a new contract.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 8 May 2008 Posted 8 May 2008 If he still wants to play for us after being shunted around then I think we should offer him a new contract.
