lavrentis Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 To be honest, they both have 1 good match for 8 crap ones. I voted De Vries though because he at least puts the effort in and the Tottenham goal!
kyleolly Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 I would of took De vries on sunday playing 4-5-1 Devries was the man think about the Fa cup campaign when we go to the quarter finals and lost to blackburn De vries worked tirelessly on his own better than howard and hayles
lildave3 Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Tottenham FA Cup.In front of the Kop. 3 - 2. 90th Minute. He was shit that day, until the last minute.
Tilley Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 He was shit that day, until the last minute. I couldn't care less. Thats what I will always remember him for.
Guest ttfn Posted 8 May 2008 Posted 8 May 2008 Can I add the Charlton away game in the (2005?) FA Cup into the de Vries' good games mix? So I make that: Charlton away Spurs home - he was great that day, I'd been telling my mates how shit he was beforehand and they all thought I was being fussy after that! Blackpool Watford 4 in 50. Not brilliant. But better than 1 in 22.
Geo V Posted 8 May 2008 Posted 8 May 2008 MDV has never done that much for us and whilst Howard has hardly set the world alight for us, at least he has scored some goals. Anyway Id be surprised if he doesn't leave as I cant see him playing D1 football.
87fox Posted 8 May 2008 Posted 8 May 2008 We paid out £1.5m plus wages PLUS paying off MDV's contract to get Howard instead. Talk about a waste of money. MDV was in cracking shape - he hit the bar twice against Blackpool on the opening game - more than anyone else managed that day.
87fox Posted 8 May 2008 Posted 8 May 2008 MDV has never done that much for us Top scorer a couple of seasons back
Corky Posted 8 May 2008 Posted 8 May 2008 Top scorer a couple of seasons back And he was away on loan for half a season as well. That showed you how poor our attack was, something we sadly have still not rectified.
Nationwider Posted 8 May 2008 Posted 8 May 2008 In a parallel universe where Mark De Vries is perpetually fit, I'd have him over 137 Steve Howards. As it is, I'd have neither.
Ultra Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 Wonder what might have happened if Fryatt and not MDV had been offloaded.
Guest Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 The question should be, how much of a mistake was not getting rid of Mark De Vries sooner??
Ultra Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 He never played for us after September! There were some far worse players than him in the squad this season..
Chrysalis Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 say what you wish about de vries. But he has a better goal scoring record for us than fryatt and he was more involved that howard ever will be. Always thought mdv was a half decent player that got unfair stick from the fans and ultimately forced out, MA2 the only manager after craig to put faith in him. Wiki was the source for 8 goals in 50 games? The description below it states he scored more than 8 goals and played less than 40 games.
