Sods Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Good if he plays like the last 5 games . Couldn't care less about the other strikers.
Joinesy77 Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Hume was 1 of the few players that actually put any effort in this year. every time he plays he gives 100% so respect to him. i defo hope he stays and this gives me hope cos i thought he'd go bt hes 1 of the few players id actually believe. Future League 1 champs!!!
Scow Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 I wouldn't be gutted if any of them left. They've all brought shame on this club and must collectively shoulder that blame, along with MM and IH. The club is bigger than any one player. It's bigger than a whole set of players. This club will be going long after Hume, Holloway, Mandaric, Clemence et al are gone. It will be going long after Mattock, Stearman and other academy products have sold out and moved out. They are a bunch of under-performing cretins. There will be more under-performing cretins, I personally guarantee it. Don't get your knickers in a twist if Hume goes. I'm sure we can find another badge-kisser somewhere. Spot on. I would prefer to keep Hume, but in the grand scheme of things, the players and management are all responsible for the mess we find ourselves in. It's all well saying he wants to stay - no one knows how genuine that is though. I don't mind who goes. I just wants players who want to play for us and help us recover. I suspect based on what's happened this season, there's very few who have that attitude.
dandannieldanok Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 I'd rather see us buy a proper out-and-out striker than keep him.
WetFlannel Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Get over yourselves. He missed a penalty. Who doesn't? He's given more than any other player in recent seasons by a clear mile, and we would have been relegated a hell of a lot sooner if we didn't have him.
lavrentis Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 He should stay, he's a few of the good players from the rest of incapable bar stewards that can get us out of this mess. Holloway or whoever, stick him up front and get him a decent strike partner. Then we're in business.
Filberts lovechild Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 24!!!Are you sure he's 24... wow... I always thought he was older!! I think he's like one of those Nigerian 24 year olds that David Moyes was on about a few months ago Huuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! Keep Humey, play him up front for fecks sake, he can bag us 20, Gradel will give him 19 assists and the rest can chip in with the others! We are going up next season NO DOUBT! And by the way are some people on this forum just plain stupid or what??? A quote from someone earlier posted something like, the clubs bigger than all the players, bigger than MM and IH????? Ok mate so financially where would this club be without MM??? Ok he has made some mistakes with appointments of managers and his firing at innappropriate times hasn't helped, but it is the managers ineptitude at tactics that has sent us down, coupled with too many under-performing weasels! He appointed Holloway on his CCC record at the time. Plymouth were in the play offs and he's done a good job, why not offer it him??? Where would the club be without MM, probably still relegated but with less points and no money! No money FACT!!
Cal Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Hume should be excellent for us next season, aslong as we play him upfront.
Kilworthfox Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 If I supported another side he would be the first person I would want from our side in the cherry picking stakes. Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuume would be excellent in Div 3 but would we really deprive him of all people of the chance to play at a better standard of league. As a Leicester fan It would hurt to lose a talent like him and a committed consistent performer, but he gave everything for us and for that I wish him very well in a City shirt or not. Well Done Humey, your a class apart, always have been in our Blue
Chimp Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Is Sappleton ready to take the step up? If so, would Hume and Sappleton work well together? My gut feeling is that they would be awesome.

Hume's energy, skill and workrate combined with Sapplezilla's ability to simply crush defences with his little finger would be a glorious combo
davieG Posted 7 May 2008 Author Posted 7 May 2008 Is Sappleton ready to take the step up?If so, would Hume and Sappleton work well together? My gut feeling is that they would be awesome. The problem is that very few on here know what is needed to do well in division 3, I've seen Sappleton a lot of times for the reserves and as with many young guys he lacks consistency. Sometimes he looks like a clumsy version of Benjamin other times his delicate touch belies his build. He does have a tremendously powerful shot on him but given that LCFC is not renowned for it's shooting I'm not sure how useful it would be. Certainly worth a go as are a few of the kids.
Thracian Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Hume's energy, skill and workrate combined with Sapplezilla's ability to simply crush defences with his little finger would be a glorious combo It's a nice thought but, again, I think you're jumping the gun. Sappleton has one great asset, his thunderous shot. But he has so much he needs to work on and I'd be surprised if he was in contention for a first team place for at least another season.

Wasn't really serious about Sappleton being a main part of our strike force next season although I'd certainly like to see him play a few games, even if it's only off the bench. I would be hoping to see Ashley Chambers be one of the main contenders for a starting place though.
Molson Canadian Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Glad to hear those words from Hume. For the past few days I've had this nagging feeling that his chances in the Canadian team might be reduced due to the team's drop to L1. With World Cup qualifying about to start and the fact that he's only 24, I'm sure he'd want to protect his place (not that he starts alot of games for them - but he does play regularly). Someone please remind me he's in CONCACAF and shouldn't worry that a drop to League 1 is going to make him any less viable as a selection in the Great White North's team. Right? I mean, didn't Port Vale have a player on the Trinidad team? Hume has competition in the canadian team for a starting striker place, rob friend, ali gerba, dwayne de rosario are all players who seem to get more playing time than him on the Canadian team, he often is played as a wide right attacking midfielder/striker but i still do expect he will be part of the canadian team for the time being, people here in canada have heard about leicesters relegation and right away they were suggesting that hume should come over to the MLS and play for Toronto FC he is well respected over here by not only the fans but the coaches as well whether he will have a starting spot in the canadian starting 11 will remain to be seen but he will surely be on the bench at least
Guest shearfox Posted 8 May 2008 Posted 8 May 2008 What are you basing that on? 14 goals between them this season, and Fryatt's been a dreadful finisher. Even worse than Akinbiyi for crying out loud, and even at a lower level!!! Same here, what are you basing that on? "More than capable"??? We've moaned about his irregular finishing time and again. And just because he's scored 11 goals in the Champo this season, it doesn't remotely suggest that he'll walk the ball in with ease in League One. The gulf in class is not as big as it is between the Prem and the Championship. Having said that, he clearly is our main threat so we should keep him on because of that. I believe Howard will be another asset to us in this league, especially if teams are going to put 10 men behind the ball. The fact is Fryatt scored around one in every two starts for Walsall and was awarded the player of the season award, so yes he is capable of scoring and performing in League one. Hume has scored nearly 1 in 3 in the championship and will get more opportunities in front of goal in League one so I'm pretty certain he will be quite influential in getting us back to the championship
Matt Posted 25 June 2008 Posted 25 June 2008 Nothing I say or do would have kept him here anyway but he can go, I'm not disputing that but after he said what was in the first post of this thread disappoints me. I'm not gonna be like a Plymouth fan when they lost Holloway, I'm not that childish - Maybe a few years ago I was when I was on a hate campaign against Dickov, I still do hate that little shit, however this situation perhaps leaves a more of a sour taste in my mouth. Dickov was asked by the birch infront of a packed Walkers Stadium - He was corned, Caught of guard, He could have said "I'm sure i'll have to see what happens" - That would leave his options open, and he's not committed to anything. However Hume could have been said to have done worse, He's been asked by no-one, He didn't have to come out and make these comments - Certainly not about the comments over his future here. He could have come out and apologised about the relegation but comment on his future? As I said whats done is done, and nothing anyone says could have changed his mind or effected this, but I certainly am hugely disappointed in him - Not that he cares. The same goes for Stearman's "crocodile tears" at the end of last seasons last few games. Although good tbh i'm kind of glad to see him go, Bags of skill, huge potential but is there any point in that if he only uses it when it suits him?
dog_4 Posted 25 June 2008 Posted 25 June 2008 very strange he chose barnsley over wolves and sheffield united? obviously up for a relagation battle. love to see how departing players struggle at there new clubs and the mighty foxes fight back with promotion.
sdb Posted 25 June 2008 Posted 25 June 2008 can't hate hume for going. he put more in than most players, and is championship quality. makes sense getting out of this disaster of a club imo.
syston_fox Posted 25 June 2008 Posted 25 June 2008 To be honest though, he probably would have stayed had it not been for what is an incredible offer from Barnsley. Over a million pounds for a player who only scores about 11 a season is great business!

smokey Posted 25 June 2008 Posted 25 June 2008 Not bad for a right winger... Stop making excuses rodders!

At the end of the day he didn't want to stay, and he feels he can further his career at Barnsley (me and him disagree on that point), but countless players have come and gone before, better players than him, and I've got over it. From now on I won't listen to what the players say, it's complete shit and empty promises.
Solihullfox Posted 25 June 2008 Posted 25 June 2008 I gave up listening or being bothered about what any pro footballer says about 10 years ago when I had a conversation with a Premier league player and ex England international in my local pub on a cold November night following a Worthington cup tie. I know the player quite well and he had dropped in for a pint on the way back from his teams cup game. I had been to Leicester's match at home and driven back to Solihull and consequently knew how cold it had been for the fans who had actually turned up for the cup tie and paid their hard earned for supporting their team. Knowing full well that the player's team had been beaten at home and by lower division opposition I asked him how they had got on, ready to take the p*ss when he told me they had lost. His reply made me realise that being a fan and caring about our team was a million miles away from where footballers view our beautiful game. He told me that they had lost but as the bonus for winning the whole competition was only five grand, none of the players could actually be bothered anyway. I couldn,t even be arsed to point out the many obvious reasons why being bothered was the least that fans should really expect from anyone representing their team but has made me take any gesture of caring for the team or words which profess to show undying support for the team they play for with a very large sceptical plnch of salt
