davieG Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 We've had Clem now Hume Hume Keen To Make Amends Wed 07 May 2008 Iain Hume has apologised on behalf of all the players to each and every Leicester City fan following the club's relegation to League One. But the 24-year-old striker has vowed to play his part in helping the club bounce back to the Championship at the first attempt. "As players we are deeply, deeply sorry for the position we've put this club in but I can assure everyone that it wasn't on purpose," said the Canadian international. "As far as I know, every player has given their all but we have only got ourselves to blame because we should have been safe weeks or even months ago. "But we let it slip and were just not consistent enough as a team and as a result people have the right to be frustrated and disappointed with us. "We've let a lot of people down and we know that. For that we are truly sorry." The Foxes will ply their trade in the third tier of English football for the first time in their 124-year history next season following a goalless draw at runners-up Stoke City on Sunday. "I have always given my heart and soul for this club and relegation has hurt me as much as anybody," he added. "This great club doesn't deserve to be in the position that it now finds itself in but one thing I can guarantee the fans is that as players we will be doing everything in our power to get Leicester City back up to the Championship at the first attempt. "This club is far too big for League One and it is now a case of getting our heads straight over the summer before coming back and focusing on the job in hand. "It is going to be tough but it is just a matter of finding that level of consistency which we've been lacking for the three seasons that I've been here. "We need to get that right and knuckle down because, from first hand experience, I know that we've got a real fight on our hands." The former Tranmere Rovers hitman finished the season with 11 goals to this name but is understandably disappointed with his tally. He added: "If I said I was happy with 11 goals then I'd be lying because I've always set a goal of being as good, if not better than the previous season and I finished with three less this time around. "I didn't score enough and I know all the other strikers would say the same. "We haven't done the defence justice and for us to do down with the second best defensive record in the league is a travesty. "Our defenders were brilliant and gave us a real fighting chance of staying up but we could not produce in front of goal on a regular basis." Hume is now keen to make amends and is 100 per cent committed to the Foxes' cause. "There is bound to be a lot of speculation flying around over the next couple of months but I am a Leicester City player and am not looking to move. "I know the chairman will want to put a side together which is capable of hitting the ground running come the start of next season because promotion has to be the aim. "And I'd ask the fans, no matter how disappointed, to stick by us and help us come straight back up. "Our supporters have been fantastic again and I feel for them at this time."
Ric Flair Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 That's the one i've been waiting for. Please, please, please Milan and Manager, DO NOT sell Iain Hume unless we're talking several million. He is nailed on 20 goals next season if he plays, that is priceless for where we want and need to be at the end of next season. Two words... Paul Dickov. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Master Fox Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Well, if he had put the ball in the net when he had his chance, we wouldn't be here would we?
izzetafox? Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 i really hope he means that!!, i think he will be great in league 1!
Ric Flair Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Well, if he had put the ball in the net when he had his chance, we wouldn't be here would we? He's apologised for that, I bet Fryatt, Howard, DJ and Hayles won't be doing that quite so quickly and Hume has still been our top scorer for the past 3 seasons and this season he's been shunted out wide or dropped. He's the least of our worries.
MikeyT Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 I have always liked Hume and for one really hope he does stay. I think if he does and we keep DJ and Fryatt, they will certainly get the goals in League 1. Especially Hume. Hume may not be the best striker in the world by any means of the imagination, but no one can deny he never gives it everything in games. But like the previous post said...Paul Dickov pledged his future when we went down, and look what happened there!

He's the least of our worries. Get a big stong mobile centre forward along side hume next year and goals shouldn't be a problem.
davieG Posted 7 May 2008 Author Posted 7 May 2008 Of course it all depends on whether the club want certain players to stay - if decent bids come in they may well choose to take the money and Hume and others will have very little say in the decision.

Well he's one player I do believe and he's one player I'd love us to keep. I understand what he means about the defence but they're too slow and just don't support close enough or accurately enough. Attacks are launched from the back too often we failed to launch em by giving the ball away. He needn't worry about the fans sticking with the team or with him because he's always put the effort in. I'm more than happy that if people like Hume, Hammond, Bell, Fryatt if he fancies it and James Chambers stick around we will have the basis of a terrific Division One side providing Mandaric does his bit and gets us the right manager.

Hammond is out of contract... if we keep him i'll be amazed.

He's the least of our worries. Yeah i know. Hume's alright. The rest of the of them are total c*nts really.
bigboy Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Here we go, First we get an appology then all our good plays Feck off!!
Tabou Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Hammond is out of contract... if we keep him i'll be amazed. Elvis Hammond doesn't need a contract. He's just to cool for school.
MikeyT Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Ya that Stupid Peno miss, the Twat I cant believe after his first 3 seasons here, him being top scorer in all of them and always giving his all in games that i've seen, that penalty miss is what people are going to remember him for. In all fairness we should have been safe weeks or even months ago like he said in his interview.
lildave3 Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Ya that Stupid Peno miss, the Twat I hope that's a joke. I'd be gutted if he left tbh.
AyewJoking Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 That hasnt made me feel better at all. I dont want to read about how all the players are determined to get straight back up. Words mean nothing and at the moment I wouldnt trust these guys to pick up dog shít.
Corky Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Hopefully, he will stay. We need people like him who give 100 per cent every match if we are to go straight back up. He's scored over 30 goals in three seasons in a higher division and has scored goals at this level before. I would be disappointed to see him leave.
Guest shearfox Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 If Hume and Fryatt stay it would be fantastic as we would have a great strikeforce for this league which should be capable of getting us back to the champioship. Back that up with Bell, Porter, Gradel, King, Weso, and Worley and we should be challenging for top spot next season. I hope that Mattock, McAuley, Kisnorbo and Stearman stays but I think that is very unlikely, so we are going to need some more defenders.
Number 6 Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Considering we have been playing hoof-ball and Howard hasn't been great at it, and the fact that Hume has played out wide right for large parts and STILL bagged 11 goals with a team who have the worst scoring record, we would be stupid to get rid.
bigneville Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Top draw news. He is one of the players i would have been gutted if he left. He is more than capable of 20 goals a season in the championship if played up front. So he will have no problem scoring in League One. He is the man to fire us back to the Championship
The People's Hero Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 I wouldn't be gutted if any of them left. They've all brought shame on this club and must collectively shoulder that blame, along with MM and IH. The club is bigger than any one player. It's bigger than a whole set of players. This club will be going long after Hume, Holloway, Mandaric, Clemence et al are gone. It will be going long after Mattock, Stearman and other academy products have sold out and moved out. They are a bunch of under-performing cretins. There will be more under-performing cretins, I personally guarantee it. Don't get your knickers in a twist if Hume goes. I'm sure we can find another badge-kisser somewhere.

That's fine as long as he arrives with goals, the occasional showboat, a good workrate, a funny scottish accent and a ginger beard.
thecannon Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Can't fault Hummmmme! Im glad he is staying, even if he does play bad some games, the fans still have a soft spot for him, and he will get us back into the championship! I never i would say "get us back up to the championship"!
