stez Posted 11 May 2008 Posted 11 May 2008 discovered in my house last night, well it was one of three, two of them are no longer with us. but this one was stillhanging around the following day. it's about 2 1/2 to 3 cm long. it can fly (just) it was out at night attracted to the house light, its antenna looked like they had mini fans (the olden days demure ladies fan). cheers

I will drop my bowels. one theory of mine was that it was some weird, only in lincolnshire, thing. there was someone in the house who dropped their bowels, but who knows with climate change, and that, they could be spreading your way........ sweet dreams

Indeed it is, although I didn't know their 'posh' name - always just been May Bugs to me. We seem to get loads round here. They're bastard big beetles that buzz (make a threatening 'drone' as they home in!) haphazardly around clattering into things, especially in the evenings. One ambushed me at a barbeque a couple of years back and promptly got tangled in my hair - the ensuing panic was rather entertaining apparently. On another evening I had to run all the way home from the pub as one kept buzzing around me. As soon as I stopped it'd reappear. Then, the other evening, one flew in through the window. I was just about to dive for cover behind the settee (hmm, I know... dunno why I thought it wouldn't be able to get behind there ) when it crashed into the TV, changed its mind and then flew out again. Starting to think I should wear a different perfume.

Starting to think I should wear a different perfume. the one pictured caused several pences worth of damage, mostly me looking for the bloody thing. if you've seen loads, and i've seen the 3 (2 now dead) then can i suggest (for my sake) you continue with the eau de cockchafer?
