Ultra Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 The be and end all is mandaric could not afford to sack holloway and his coaching staff That's hard to believe, given the comings and goings in the last 13 months.. Remember, this is the chairman who told us all he'd spend £25 million on the club. He hasn't got anywhere near that yet.
Simi Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 Precisely - indecision isn't going to help anyone, either we all back the manager, or get him out and a replacement in. This faffing around is only going to make the situation less stable at a key time for the club. You're right pal. That's the impression I got from the interview anyway, Holloway owes a lot to Mandaric if he his here come August. But if it's still tits up when the season has started, what do we do then?! Back to square one for fourth time since he has been here! Why not? He hasn't batted an eyelid at the best part of 2 million being wasted on a couple of sheep shagging shite! I bet when we signed Oakley and Howard you weren't saying that.
filbertboy Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 I'm pleased. He's a good lad-bring on league one. yeah so good he got us relegated
Ultra Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 I'm glad Holloways stayed, just to piss you off. Of course. How inconsiderate of me. I must be the only City fan on earth who is unimpressed with the way he's turned this team and its players around...
Father Ted Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 Of course. How inconsiderate of me. I must be the only City fan on earth who is unimpressed with the way he's turned this team and its players around... I've been with you all along. Ever since he was appointed, his media prescence started to worry me and since then it's just got worse and worse If we can keep Penrice I will be happy.
Toecutter Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 Of course. How inconsiderate of me. I must be the only City fan on earth who is unimpressed with the way he's turned this team and its players around... As said earlier some of our fans are going soft in the head, you can`t be negative at the ground or on here it seems without the ollie brown nose army spouting their drivel.

Penrice? is that the guy who was paid to bring in players such as Barry Fails and Slug Howard amongst other mediocre players? That guy does his scouting watching east midlands today or reading the sunday papers.
The Reverend Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 Of course. How inconsiderate of me. I must be the only City fan on earth who is unimpressed with the way he's turned this team and its players around... I just find it funny how when you've spoke about Holloway (which is a lot, quite frankly), you've said 'Holloway has done this, done that, blah blah blah. But it doesnt matter. He wont be here on Monday'. And he's still here.
iancognito Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 If Holloway gets us up, are all the doubters going to re-visit this thread in a year and say sorry? Man Utd, Arsenal, Everton, Blackburn, Charlton (Curbishley years), Boro (this season with Southgate) Hull, Ipswich All clubs that have stuck with their managers and had success because of it. Hull are probably the best role model of that lot. Phil Brown had a bad time at Derby and nearly took Hull down last year. He was given time and now is on the brink of taking what is arguably a League 1 sized club into the Prem. Brum, Derby, Fulham, Bolton, Sheff Weds, Coventry and us. All clubs that have chopped & changed managers this season and last and have failed, finished low down or been relegated. I know Holloway's made some blindingly obvious piss-poor decisions but he didn't send any of his teams out to lose. He didn't tell Howard to be a misfiring w@nkstaff, didn't tell Clemence that rugby is the game where you can't pass forward and when the game was getting away from us against Wednesday and a point would have saved us, probably didn't shout "It's alright Humey, fire it 3 yards wide, we don't need to score this penalty". Sure if he's taken us into the bottom four after 10/15 games next season, I'll join the Ollie Out bandwagon but until then get off the guy's back, give him time and space and he'll come good. Two relegations and we're still fighting amongst ourselves
melrose Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 I bet when we signed Oakley and Howard you weren't saying that. No your right, I was saying i bet these two are awesome judging by the position they have left their previous club in! Why would a club struggling like the sheep were, not want to hang on to a couple of gems like them!

The Stig Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 Holloway did an awful awful job. However, I hope he can learn from his mistakes. If there's one thing this club needs its stability, and Milan recognises this. I'm going back on what I said earlier in the season, but now I firmly beleive that we should give him another chance, in the hope that he'ss learn from his errors and do things differently. I hope and pray he does.

Father Ted Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 Penrice? is that the guy who was paid to bring in players such as Barry Fails and Slug Howard amongst other mediocre players? That guy does his scouting watching east midlands today or reading the sunday papers. Do you really think Penrice signed Barry Hayles? No, that was Holloway - Barry's bumboy. At the time, everyone (well, very much everyone) were over the moon about the signing of Howard. Howard is the player who scored 19 goals in the Championship the other year. Was Penrice not the one who found Ebanks-Blake and Scott Sinclair amongst others?
dandannieldanok Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 If Holloway gets us up, are all the doubters going to re-visit this thread in a year and say sorry? No, we shouldn't be in this situation in the first place.
Father Ted Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 No, we shouldn't be in this situation in the first place. Exactly.
Fox You Forest Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 No, we shouldn't be in this situation in the first place. Exactly. But my Batracer friends we are in that situation, its now about putting it right not how we got here.
melrose Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 Yes, i'm sure. It's so easy to sit there and say that now. Not as easy as you think, this chair's falling to bits and I'm a slow typer!
Guest Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 No, we shouldn't be in this situation in the first place. Exactly. Have you only just seen it coming? Our problems have been going on a lot longer than the last few months.

I remember Holloway saying he won`t go back to Plymouth to sign any players but he was straight on the phone come the transfer window to get that non-league quality Hayles, and as for Howard if the worst team ever in the prem decide to get rid of their `goal machine` then what does that tell you, i bet Paul Jewell thought `while i`ve got this clown on the phone i can get rid of Oakey too`and he did. We buy rejects from teams we hate and some people here rejoice in the fact.

I admit, the signings have been failures but he proved the goods at Plymouth and in my eyes it was mainly down to him that Plymouth got where they were and not because of Ratboy/Worzel!
Father Ted Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 Have you only just seen it coming? Our problems have been going on a lot longer than the last few months. I know we've had problems for about 4 years but when you have a manager given that much time and backing, the whole january transfer window to strengthen the squad and he still can't save us from relegation then he doesn't deserve to be here! His tactics have been diabolical and if Megson was still manager we would have still probably stayed up on draws!

Yes, because Penrice chose the team, and generally masterminded their rise to the play-offs. Well done.

But as I've tried to point out, exactly how much say has IH had in all of those signings? The owner is notorious for sticking his oar in, and the chief exec has publicly stated his involvement.
