Holloway staying (for now)

Yes, because Penrice chose the team, and generally masterminded their rise to the play-offs.

Well done.

Penrice was key in finding Ebanks-Blake, Sinclair and so on. What they really be there without those players. If IH really chose the team and masterminded everything then why have we been relegated?

Tell me, when we signed Howard and Oakley, were you saying, 'Oh god, there sh*t'? Probably not. I admit, the signings have been failures but he proved the goods at Plymouth and in my eyes it was mainly down to him that Plymouth got where they were and not because of Ratboy/Worzel!

When we signed Howard and Oakley i thought their confidence must be at rock bottom so what will they do for us? apart from a toe poked hat trick at west brom from the big sloth i have seen nothing to suggest they will get any better. We keep on signing old players whose best years are long gone, its time to put some faith in the youngsters who are local and know the fans, not over-paid egos who`s next thought is what new hair cut to sport, or what car to buy, most of them live no where near the city so in my opinion are not city, they might wear the shirt but they don`t really play for us they just get paid. Its not al Holloways fault but he talked so big and pointed his finger to blame all the previous managers, and he has proved to be totally clueless in all levels of management.

And how the hell do you know that can i just ask?

Using your logic, Penrice was here, therefore we shouldnt of been relegated.

In fact using your logic, it was all down to Penrice we went down.

I have to admit Howard has been a failure - without a doubt! Although I have heard that Oakley has had a nasty foot injury ever since the Cov game and has been playing through painkillers. I totally agree with the bit highlighted - I don't know how many of you knew this, I found out earlier that Hendrie is on £25k a week and Leicester are paying 2/3rds of it and his so called 'injury' before the Sheff Weds game was all bulls*it because he didn't want to play. It's a shame because he has the potential to be a good player at Championship level.

What I'm trying to say is that has Holloway proved anything tactically/motivational wise to you, while he's been at Leicester to prove he's a good manager? If he had carried on what he was doing at Plymouth with us, especially with the players we have/had we really shouldn't be in this mess!

Why didn't he want to play? He was on the verge of becoming a fans favourite!

I watched Hendrie talking on that show on itv hosted by collymore, even stan was taking the piss out of his car his watch and all the bling he was wearing, i didn`t know he was on so much money to be honest, these guys earn way to much for what they do, but we all know that. So one hours training from Hendrie would cost one fan a whole season ticket!!!

An apparent 'social event/meeting/going on'

BTW it's from a very reliable source.

No, but he proved it when he was at Plymouth.

Managers dont suddenly go bad. While i will say that Holloway has done a poor job here, i personally lay more blame on the players. They dont give a shit. And that is a fact. This club has been sinking for 4 years. Against Stoke, we finally sank.

I've been reading this site and it sounds like the hippies, the do-gooders and the political correct twats have taken over! What you need is the Sarg. to come down and give your spastic players a good kicking you bunch of spastics. And as for you fairy hippies you want to come down and actually attend a game and not just talk about what you've seen on a Sunday morning. Cos you all sound like you all read Bill Anderson and believe he knows what he's talking about. The bloke IS A moron. You slarrrrrrggggsss! I remember a time when players were men and fans were hard and believed in standing up for their clubs. You lot obviously work for the council! Cos no other twats would employ you cos you talk bollocks.

Im glad to hear holloway is staying..........stability at this club has long been needed and He can change the team and get new players in over the summer Leicester will be back and we stand a better chance with holloway staying and if people want to harp on about holloway being the first person to take us out the top 2 leagues then so be it, but as i said before weve dont nothing for 4 years and it takes something drastic to make things happen. We Will have a strong Team in this league next season and in my opinion be the biggest club too! Mandaric has already told all of us that the foundation`s were not in place to make this club successful when he came here, so how do we know they were in place by the time Holloway was here? Look at where portsmouth are now and mandaric made them the club they are, so are we to against mandaric`s judgement?

Give Holloway A chance I Say to all you doubters, perhaps even mandaric has already said that if he is given a second chance he will have to win at least 7 out the first 10 fixtures next season. I really can`t see where we would get a better manager than holloway and i speak to a lot of my friends who aren`t leicester supporters btw and they look in and say it`s ridiculous that we blame holloway. Anyway ill be the first to stick my neck out and put my head on the line and say holloway will take us up as champions or runners up next season. Bout time everyone else started to be a bit more positive and get behind holloway now if not then tough because as has already been explained it`s buisness as usual.

You make some interesting points but I'd much rather hear what that bird from Ashes to Ashes has to say on the subject

An absolutely appalling decision by MM.

Ollie is one of the most inept managers I think this club has ever had.

What worries me most is that Ollie will probably now decide who stays and who goes, make decisions on who to buy during the closed season.

Then if it all goes wrong after a few games at the start of the season MM will almost certainly sling him out.

Then we are back to where we are now.

Will now seriously think about whether to renew my season ticket.

Bitterley disappointed.

Holloway was bought in with a reputation as a player/team motivator, he's failed to instill spirit to the squad as well as all his tactical errors so the buck stops with him, even though the players dont give a shit!

I bet when we signed Oakley and Howard you weren't saying that.

No your right, I was saying i bet these two are awesome judging by the position they have left their previous club in!

Why would a club struggling like the sheep were, not want to hang on to a couple of gems like them!

I was thinking

"Paul Jewell's off his nut. He's offloading two players that the sheepshaggers class as God-like for getting them promoted and why wouldn't he want them in the Championship next season"

After seeing them in blue for 5 months I now realise that Paul Jewell is an excellent judge of character. He saw that Howard's head wasn't up for a relegation scrap and that Oakley would throw his toys out of his pram when Savage was given the captaincy. Parting with the better part of £2M for those two is the best bit of business Jewell will ever do.

It's the fact that everyone expected so much of them, that makes them being shit-awful so much more difficult to take.

Ian Holloway is clearly a genuinely nice bloke and it wasn't pleasant seeing him so down after the Stoke game. If he stays as manager and succeeds then, of course, everyone will be ecstatic. However, his supporters on this forum have based their opinion on blind faith, claiming Ian has built relegated sides up before and can do it again with City.

Ian has been a manager for 11 years and obtained 1 promotion and 2 relegations. Alright, statistics are not always that black or white but that is not a particularly good record and I'm not sure if Leicester City should be in the business of hope. Ollie's biggest mountain to climb is his own past. He has always had to be the underdog manager at smallish clubs who are not expected to achieve. His personality is perfect for that scenario. In fact, he'd probably have been a good manager for City when we were in administration.

If Mandaric does give him a chance, perhaps he can change the way he looks at management, grasp the difference of his current challenge to his previous and, consequently, grow into the job. If he then succeeds it couldn't happen to a nicer bloke.

Isn't it past your bed time Mrs Holloway?

Anyone who says they were'nt at least partially excited about Oakley and Howard is a liar. The 2 fulcrums of Derbys promotion winning team.

Liars.

Hand on heart I felt nothing towards Howard and all Oakley gave me was a slight hope he'd make a difference. I thought thought there was some other reason behind them pair ending up here, before they showed they weren't interested.

In fairness, and reading through Holloways interview. He's absolutely right in saying there has been a problem for four years. The players are motivationally retarded for some reason, and after the apparent 'rollocking' earlier in the season from Holloway they did respond for a game then back to cack.

My only worry is a simple one. If Holloway couldn't change the players mentality since November, will he do so ready for next season?

p.s I wasn't excited by Howard, he missed a peno for Derby the week before. It hardly filled me with confidence..

Someone on RL mentioned that Phil Brown was a walking disaster at the sheepshaggers, but look at the fella now. He's about to take a team into the top flight for the first time in their history. How right was he.

Holloway could walk into another job tomorrow and become a success story there. There are no black and white on this issue. He has made some costly mistakes since he arrived and we have paid a heavy price for that. But I just got a personal gut feeling that we'll do well with him at the helm. Don't ask me why and how, that's just how I feel.

I had my reservations about Howard - who doesnt when signing a 31 year old target man, whos scored about 2 goals all season. But i looked back to last season - his 19 goals that took them up i guess.

I genuinely thought Oakley would make a difference. We were crying out for creativity, but he has'nt had the impact i felt he would. I was still excited though.
