The People's Hero Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 My mum n dad are from Leicester. I'm from Maidstone, my most local league side being Gillingham. So whichever way you look at it, it's a pretty sorry state of affairs.
Dr The Singh Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 My mum n dad are from Leicester.I'm from Maidstone, my most local league side being Gillingham. So whichever way you look at it, it's a pretty sorry state of affairs. Dad from the Punjab, Mum from Uganda, Me born and bred in Leicester!!! Saying that my dad's a Leicester a fan, because Leicester's his home!! There are too many glory supporters, and unfortunately there a few that don't see Leicester as the home and support a side where they have no roots at all!!!
WetFlannel Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 Well I live in Kettering and support Leicester, so does that make me a glory supporter? I suppose I should support Northampton Town really although I find it easier to get to games in Leicester rather than Northampton.

Sorry, I'm a bit off it today
Darkzzz_ Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I am a Kettering Lad too.... But i don't see you being more of a Leicester fan than me just because i don't live in and around the city... although Kettering is not that far really....
Daggers Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 Doesn't seem to be does it? I was saying this to my Man Utd supporting friends. One of them said "I've always supported Man Utd" I said, "why" he couldn't give me an answer. I just have no respect for anyone who "supports" a team they have no link to (if the team is one of the big ones). Electing to follow someone really crap is fine in my book - in fact, it should be encouraged. I'll live with it if our kid really does start following Villa seeing he's lived here since before he knew what football was but the day he asks for a Big 4 shirt is the day I kick him out and disown him.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 What would be the closet league side to Australia
The People's Hero Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 What would be the closet league side to Australia The furthest south-east I reckon, assuming that's the shortest distance... Is is shorter *that* way rather than the *other* way round the world isn't it? In which case your closest league side will be Brighton or Gillingham. Probably Brighton.

Tommeh Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 My brother who is 7 currently supports 6 teams: Leicester Lincoln (my dads team) Man yoo Arsenal Chelsea Liverpool Hes actaully been to quite a few lincoln games bout 6 home and 4 away last season and he sees as going to Leicester as more of a treat (can't think why!) I know that when he's older he'll be a Leicester fan and if my dad still takes him to Lincoln its fine by me, rather them than the big 4. He keeps asking for a Liverpool shirt with Torres on it but it'll never happen and if any family memebers Grans etc. buy him one I will seriously kick off. He's currently got LCFC current home last home and last years white away aswell as a Lincoln goalie shirt. Most of his mates are also city fans but when I watch him at football training, the amount of kids with city shirts + one of the big 4 is amazing. So I can see where he's coming from mates influence and everything but he will NEVER follow a top 4 club unless Mandaric pulls his finger out his arse!
Joinesy77 Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 99% of utd supporters wouldn't support them if utd got relegated. They wouldn't get even 20000 in old trafford if they were in the championship yet we got over that every week. They may have more supporters than us but at least we've got way more true supporters :scarf:
AmericanScott Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I only support Leicester because my family supports them. Even when they fled to New York in the 80's they still managed to keep track of how we did and stuff. When i finally moved here at the tender age of 15, my first day at college someone asked "who do you support?" I said Leicester and everyone about booed me out of the classroom I found it weird how no one supported their home town team here. I mean, i wasn't born in Leicester and have never been to a game before 2004 but i could've changed my support for a glory club when i moved here. I kept my blood blue, through and through. Now days, i love asking the local kids why they support Chelsea and Liverpool. "coz lesta r shit m8". So what? I hate people like that with a PASSION! :@ :@
lavrentis Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I support Leicester as I was born In Melton Mowbray. Simple as.
The Reverend Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I support Leicester because my dad does, and his dad did before him and so on.....
Daggers Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I support Leicester because my dad does, and his dad did before him and so on..... My Dad was born in Trafford and lived half a mile from Old Trafford. He supported Manchester United before becoming an accountant and failed to inform me of this fact throughout my entire childhood. Right now, I could be gloating and lording it. I wonder if there's a cut-off date to my law? Maybe they could be my 'other' team seeing as everyone seems to have one.
Daggers Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 In fact, wasn't there some bloke who went to Arsenal for a season just to see what it was like to watch a team that could play football? Maybe I should do that the season after next.
josh_baskin Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 okI was born in Mansfield, now live in Nottingham, have no family from Leicester and i have never even lived in Leicester, was never even a football fan as such but my friend at the time who's dad was from Leicester used to take us to watch them about season 89-90, all i can remember was just pissing about on the Kop and trying to climb up the fencing. Was not until later when watching city on live cental games I got inspired by Steve Walsh's grit and determination and that never say die attitude, it even rubbed off on a couple of my mates too who were none football fans too as such, been going to about 15-20 games a season, I cant realy explain why but just stuck with them since.

Don't get where your coming from Tommeh, It's only a shirt. I've got boat loads of shirts from Top 4 clubs, I'm hoping to sport a Circa 97/98 Man United away shirt on Sunday, classic!! I doubt a shirt with Torres on the back will turn him into a full time plastic scouser. Kids in the end will support the team they go and watch live.

Yeah, I've got a City Shirt, Arsenal shirt, Barca shirt, & Palermo's shirt :: But got loads of old shirts too.
samingram_uk Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I surrport City, purely because their local, and my dad surrports them. Why surrport a club to which city you have never been to, or even to see play? I dont understand.
MC Prussian Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I'm not even English, yet I support Leicester City FC. How weird is that?
Joe. Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I've got a City Shirt,Arsenal shirt, Luckily you were converted from your Arsenal days
Mr Happy Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I suppose i'm in the minority here then as I was born in leicestershire, have lived in leicester all my life thus far and have never supported another team (apart from the occassion glance at how inter get on, because of Manchini and a scottish cub because of a mate who supports them). Sadly though I misssed the glory days and didn't start attending matches until the early 00's
