Asha Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 There were someone at my school who before the 2002 World Cup was adament he supported France. Day One, and they lost to Senegal. Day two, he's wearing a Brazil shirt. He's adament he supports Brazil.
cecchini Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I'm not english! Its about Loyalty. If you support manu, support manu, thick and thin. - fine by me If you support manu then switch to Chelski because manu start to be sh1te - you should have all hair removed from your body with a hot soldering iron. Loyalty
Simi Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 You can go anywhere in the world and you will find a Manchester United fan APART from actually in Manchester! That myth is so boring. Today summed up Glory Supporting for me today, so many people I had no idea liked football turned up with United shirts and scalves. Like they felt they had to, to show they supported United. We had Viva Ronaldo in one of our social areas being sang. One other lad who is a complete willy puller, fully merchandised up, then starting singing "Where's Your Mother Gone" to a picture of Lampard. Fat ****. That is not on at all, but he probably felt he had to do that to show him hating Chelsea and being passionate towards United. Can't stand it.
Shrenchel Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I try to not let it bother me but it does. Out in Leeds after the Barca - Man United and there was a group of Man U 'fans' in the middle of town taunting a geezer in a Leeds shirt, throwing plastic bottles, spitting at him etc. Gradually more and more 'Man U' were joining in, until there was a fooking huge group of them, all student southerners it seemed. Makes me sick that these ****s can kick off on someone for supporting his local club when they're in that fooking city. Ridiculous.
Daggers Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 Today summed up Glory Supporting for me today My brother-in-law is an ardent Chelsea fan, his son is a raging ManU supporter: They've seen almost every single match this season. On Sky. Absolute bollocks. In my world, cockwands like this would be put to death.
Koke Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I hope not, I was born in Alvaston Derby and lived there until I was 8 when we moved to Leicester. My dad doesn't really watch football but if anything watches for Derby's result! Do you mean I've been a Sheep all my life and didn't know it, am I able to go into rehab or otherwise cleanse myself! I'm from Wolverhampton and although I didn't live there for too long, I had a lucky escape I tell yer. My mum is Leicester fan but she wasn't hardcore, and only went to the local and regional games but I still got sucked into it, cos Wolves did not seem appealing to me. We were damn good back then and Wolves were mediocre at best, and shit at worst. Rather be a **** than a dingle.
purpleronnie Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 Its no different to any big team around the world. Plenty of plastic real madrid fans in spain, plenty of plastic Inter Milan fan in Italy, etc etc... They come out of the woodwork when theres a big match, pop on their replica shirt and pretend their interested. Its ben that way for so long now and will only get worse. The parents should influence the kids to support their local side but its hard because all kids see these days is football on sky sports and its dominated by the big 4.
Super Arj Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I have just walked through the centre of town after Manure beat Chelski. It seems incredible that we live in the tenth (?) largest city outside of the smoke, and yet the city centre is full of plastic Manure fans. Many of whom either fit into the twat-off-the-estate category, or the I'm-proud-to-be-an-asian-from-leicester-who-doesn't-like-leicester. Whilst watching the build-up to the game, there were some adverts from Derby County, with a fans soundtrack, saying they'd sold over 22,000 season tickets for next season. Anyone care to comment on the difference ? im asian and i support leicester
ekins11 Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I am a Kettering Lad too.... But i don't see you being more of a Leicester fan than me just because i don't live in and around the city... although Kettering is not that far really.... Snap, ive been to my fair share of games so... u saying i shouldn't support Leicester as i don't live there or my dad doesn't support them...?
Jordan Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I've only been to the UK for one week and in Leicester for 24 hours. The only place in the country where I got shit for being a City fan was ... in Leicester, of course!
Ultra Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I try to not let it bother me but it does. Makes me sick that these ****s can kick off on someone for supporting his local club when they're in that fooking city. Ridiculous. And I bet none of those tossers would dare to wear a Man U top in Leeds on their own. Now that really would attract grief.
Tommeh Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 Don't get where your coming from Tommeh, It's only a shirt. I've got boat loads of shirts from Top 4 clubs, I'm hoping to sport a Circa 97/98 Man United away shirt on Sunday, classic!! I doubt a shirt with Torres on the back will turn him into a full time plastic scouser. Kids in the end will support the team they go and watch live. Hmmm yeah could just imagine what it would be like though, going out with him with the full liverpool kit, hate the image of youngsters wearing the latest kits of all the big clubs. Classic shirts are different to me I'm planning on getting a few soon from pre 2000, love them. Saw a bloke the other week who to his credit had a Forest shirt on his 4 kids though 2 man united, 1 chelsea and 1 liverpool. Poor Bastard. I know I'm making assumptions here but come on, its happening everywhere. The huge appeal and success of the top 4 is making it so easy to support them.
Ultra Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I was in a pub last night watching the match. Two kids, no older than ten, were playing pool, one wearing a Man Utd top and the other a Chelsea one. Neither of them showed the slightest interest in the TV. Some of these shirts are just worn as fashion accessories.
Uncle Albert Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I counted so many Yanited shirts in college today. This one lad only wears his Yanited shirt when they win in the Champs League. Disgusting.
Free Falling Foxes Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 A few years ago a study in one of the footy mags showed only 60% of fans supported their hometown club! I suppose there is no reason why you should but I find that quite sad.
davieG Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 A few years ago a study in one of the footy mags showed only 60% of fans supported their hometown club!I suppose there is no reason why you should but I find that quite sad. Sad that it's only 60% or sad that it's as many as 60%

It is easy to support these teams, there's no pressure, hardly any passion from the "supporters". It's a sad state of affairs, but there's nothing that can be done about it.
ekins11 Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 60% im surprised its that many to be honest, cant think of anyone at my school who supports kettering with a passion.
SantiagoFox Posted 22 May 2008 Author Posted 22 May 2008 im asian and i support leicester Good for you!
Dames Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 Tbh it really doesn't bother me anymore. I've helped convert a few people in my time though and thats all that matters
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 When did this happen??? 60's... I wasn't born in any case.
Daggers Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 S'all irrelevant. Everyone has thrown away their ManU shirt because today's best team is Celtic. I hope shops are ready for the rush on Queen of the South shirts on Saturday.

Scoops Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 It's a good job the criteria for supporting a football team isn't the location from where your parents got married, because there'd be a fookin lot of unhappy Gretna fans up and down the country right now. peoples - whre are you in Maidstone? I lived there for 8 years and there was some City fans in Shepway.
Thracian Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 I have just walked through the centre of town after Manure beat Chelski. It seems incredible that we live in the tenth (?) largest city outside of the smoke, and yet the city centre is full of plastic Manure fans. Anyone care to comment on the difference ? Some of us remember when Leicester used to be known for their flamboyance and willingness to attack. United represent "a port in a storm" for some of us. In fact I've mostly loved watching United since the days of George Best. It's only like watching excellence in any form - do it enough and it's easy to become an armchair fan. I'm a fan of United because I love their football and a fan of Leicester because it's part of my soul and however I feel, I can't seem to help it.
