What with all the new polls going around lately I thought I'd get in on the act. I know we haven't even begun looking at signing anybody new yet, hell we haven't even got a manager yet, but this is based upon who your'd like to see take responsibility for the captaincy. Would you still want Clem? Or Stearman, maybe some responsibility for him would make him stay? Or even Matty Fryatt? Maybe your'd prefer a completely new signing to add some much needed experience and stability or a younger captain to lead us forward, looking to the future?

is it not a bit early for this?

all of the above may or may not be here in the next month let alone come August

Pay no heed to them, they're just jealous that they never thought of doing such a poll. I have thoroughily enjoyed completing it and look forward to the even newer newest new poll.

Well at least it wasn't a new manager poll, hmm maybe I should start another of them?

It is rather early though I agree but by the time we get a new manager there won't be much point doing a poll as 3 weeks later there'll be a captaincy change

And as to being an idiot... I havent got my official certificate yet

I want one of those certificates too - I want to put it above my desk and bask in the adulation of all who see it.

Me too.

Well, not for me but for Father Dougal Mcguire, he's a right thicko!

One things for sure, I wouldn't like to be captain. You get watched more carefully, there is added pressure, and if the team is not playing well then the captain is usually blamed.

But on the other hand if things go well you are a Legend!

With our current players then Kisnorbo.

If we are ever to get a team of Barry Hayles' then it would make sense to start blooding one of them as the captain.

It would be good if he had some experience in goal too.

It would've made sense to create this thread after the summers comings and goings.

I don't think any of the current crop have the potential to be a leader so we need to sign someone who will step up to the plate when needed.

As Vlad suggested in another thread, I think we should select Michael Barrymore as Manager but also I think we should put him in as player/manager captain role.

From the current squad it would have to be Wesolowski for me... he has the gumption and isn't afraid to use it.

:)

Obvious concerns over his match fitness and ability to maintain a run in the side though.

how has stearman got so many votes?

Because he is one of very few players who is bothered about club and as Captain potential!

The new captain has to go to Richard Stearman.

He was one of the only lads who showed the quality and passion that we needed to stay up last year.

Away at Stoke, he tried to take the game by the scruff of the neck and change it, and all this playing at right back.

He was our player of the season and deservedly so and has just broken onto the scene at under 21 level.

Giving such a young lad the captaincy of his hometown club would make him want to stay and bounce straight back to the Championship.
