Yes it's been posted here: http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.ph...t&p=1018017 I don't think anyone is taking anything with John Gregory in as serious.
Cheese Me Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 There's no way we're about to be taken over. It would cost a fortune to buy out MM and the risk / reward ratio is going to be miles off being worthwhile. What we might see is less investment from the incumbant owner but noone is taking over.

By his own admission he's only spent about £11 mill (probably loans) and a fair portion of that could be recovered by selling some assets.

I genuinely have no idea but my thinking is that Milan will not want to make a loss, seems to genuinely want success for the club and I think would need a reasonably significant offer to sell. Take into the account that when last taken over we were a championship club with a reasonable shout at making the premiership and we're now a League 1 club who could conceivably fade into insignificance then our value must have dropped significantly (prem opportunity is worth much more than our assets). Taking that into account I can't see any offer being enough to make the sale seem like a sensible choice for Milan. Just a theory but I would be amazed if we were bought out

Basically the clubs out goings far outweigh the incomings, MM has to keep putting in funds to pay the wages + bills. I think its fair to say this money is not a gift to the good people of Leicester and their football club

I think its fair to say this money is not a gift to the good people of Leicester and their football club Just because we're running at a loss doen't mean MM is funding that loss it could be covered by loans or bank over draughts, who ever took over would take on those debts it doesn't mean they have to pay MM he only needs back what he's actually spent out of his own pocket which I suspect is very little. Anyone taking over would need to either reduce the debts by investment or selling some players or carry on with them like so many other clubs do.
davieG Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 Full text FOXES LINE UP AN INCE WAR By Alan Nixon And Tom Hopkinson Paul Ince and John Gregory are in a straight shoot-out for the vacant managerial post at Leicester. Foxes chairman Milan Mandaric approached MK Dons boss Ince last week, and the former Manchester United and England midfielder will give the Serb an answer in the next 72 hours. Ince (above) is keen to replace Mark Hughes at Blackburn and should know by Tuesday whether he is in the running at Ewood Park. If not, he will answer Leicester's call. Mandaric has also sounded out Gregory. People Sport understands the former Derby and Aston Villa manager is the preferred choice of one of two consortiums who are keen to buy the League One club from Mandaric. Gregory hopes to learn early this week whether that consortium has any real hope of gaining control. John Gregory a proper Jack in the Box
the beange Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 Iv heard rumours about it as well i can't see it happenign at the moment, can't see milan selling now when he knows how much money he has put in. he's a business man and he won't leave the club till were at least better off than what we were before.

What we might see is less investment from the incumbant owner but noone is taking over. With the current League standing & therefore liklihood of Premiership status in the next 2 years minimal, MM would have bought the club (as in paid to previous shareholders) for £640k. On the basis the clubs status has been reduced since then, a new investor would surely look to pay even less? But it's not about the selling price, they need to have many millions to keep the club going for the next 2 years, given the wage bill has significantly increased over the last 12 months, with many on longer term deals

We heard that John Gregory and Paul Ince were both in the running for the job and that Mandaric was looking to appoint someone in the next few days. For as long as I can remember, consortiums and businessmen have wanted a piece of City and it's hardly rocket science to work out that Mandaric would want to get out of the mess he created. P!ss poor journalism at it's very best.
FilboFox Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 A take over!?! Dear lord... when will this seemingly never ending cycle of disasters end!?! Managers, players and now chairmen!?!

Daggers Posted 9 June 2008 Posted 9 June 2008 This rumour holds no substance simply because it is associated with Gregory. His managerial career reads like a celebration of below-par ineptitude and no one coming into a club with money would want him to spearhead their investment...the concept of it is a joke. His agent has salted this story along the lines of "John is not prepared to deny rumours linking him with the managerial position at Leicester City and is not able to confirm or deny any links with a potential take-over bid." Then, seeing as it is silly season with everyone on holiday and many column inches to fill, the hacks go to work producing a story. If Gregory is our manager next season I will chop my nuts off, fry them lightly in a garlic oil and have them for tea with some nice salad and a crisp white wine.

lookwhaticando Posted 9 June 2008 Posted 9 June 2008 I wonder if Souness is leading the other consortium?
Webbo Posted 9 June 2008 Posted 9 June 2008 Thinking about this today, if one of the consortia( assuming there are consortia wanting to take over) is lead by Martin George he would know JG and iirc offered him the job when Brian Little left. There is a connection there and it could explain why JG is being touted as a possible manager. That's my theory for what it's worth.
