On asking her which part of her name my mum was changing my mum replied "her Christian name". On hearing this the person working in the bank said and i quote " oh you can't say Christian name anymore in case its deemed offensive to other races". WTF is the world coming to. How can that be deemed as offensive. Its just little things like that, that are accumulating and really getting me to hate the country in which i was born and bred and proud to say i'm from! Sorry, rant over!

It seems people just assume other religions will be offended by Christmas, or the term Christian name, when in fact, the majority are not offended at all.

One of my teachers a few years back was telling me how, when reporting a student to the head, a new teacher didn't want to use the fact that the student was black as a distinguishing feature because he was worried about PCness.

And that includes many "indigenous" folk whose only contact with a church is when they're nicking lead from a roof. The phrase "first name" is the correct term to use. Deal with it. If you're really "proud to be English", the least you can do is respect the language.
