Worst managerial appointment of recent history?

Recommended Posts

Are some of you seriously suggesting he is not?

I dont recall us in 20 years going for a more vacant waste of space than Pearson.

The sheer fact he is the worst candidate of ALL names mentioned I think backs this up.

Did anybody genuinely think he was one that would be appointed ???

give him 3 months maximum then its onto the next one

I don't recall us being in Division 3 at anytime in our history.

Southampton were on a downward spiral as soon as Burley left. He inherited that team and loaned in players to help him get out the shite. O.K, his 3 or 4 wins horrified me last night, but you've still got to give him a chance. We need to break this sort of mentality within the club and a f ucking revolving door is just not very f ucking healthy. So forget all that f ucking bollocks about stupid f ucking win percentages and give the man a f ucking chance, in fact, give me your f ucking crystal ball so I can see the f ucking lottery numbers for tonight. Also, if he was the only man who wants to work here, then we'd have been 'proper fuc ked' (©Tommy 'The Tit') if we didn't have him. Just give him a chance.

can you share the lotto numbers with me??

Wow, this news that Pearson is going to be our new manager is really tearing us fellow FT memebers apart.

Yes, I've literally just wrenched my arm from its socket and am jumping up and down on it in a blind rage. And I'm quite happy with Pearson's appointment. Imagine what a state some of the others are in.

I understand some of our number will be sticking needles in their eyes and taking a cheesegrater to their sweetbreads outside the ground during the press conference

To say that Pearson did well at Southampton is ridiculous..... they were as bad as us

Pearson at Southampton played 14 won 3 Lost 4 (not bad in truth) drew 7 win % 21.43

Not convinced the Saints fans would agree that he should of been kept on there

Southampton stayed up. He kept them up.

It is all about opinion, my cousin is a Southampton season ticket holder, he said they should have kept Pearson, where as some people obviously differ....

Who care's, Let's just get behind him, it is something we have to do!!

Who ever it would have been, i would have threw my support behind the new gaffer, he needs the fans!!

For those of you already calling Nigel Pearson a crap appointment, SHAME ON YOU, this is the problem why Leicester City have become a laughing stock recently (much to my disappointment), so many fans still think we can be compared to the O'Neill era, so many fans believe we're still a Premiership club, so many fans slate a new manager even before he is placed in (what kind of effect does that have on a new man to read?, what kind of feeling does it create around the Walkers Stadium?), these sort of things are then taken to the pitch and on matchdays.

All i'm saying is lets be positive for once, welcome Nigel Pearson, he may turn out to be our best manager in the past 4/5 years, and he seems to have a good look about him, a calm man but someone who can turn on his players, watching Southampton in the relegation battle last season with ourselves. he's an attacking football style manager and he is good with substitutions...WELCOME NIGEL!!!

Mods you better get some merging done else this is gonna get out of hand :D

People need to let off steam now and again this seems as good a subject as any on which to go with the flow. With in reason anyway.

He may turn out to be are best manager in 4/5 years......

While this could prove true he WILL be opperating at a lower level with currently the best playing squad in the division.

Whoever got the job the expectancy would be automatic promotion (and rightly so)

In short promotion this season will be expected from most if not all around the club.

I will applaud promotion if it happens no question but lets get the first 6 games out the way first

In some ways maybe beggers cant be choosers, but i cant help but wonder if when MM sacked IH, he thought he could get a better manager.Just maybe Nigel Pearson is the best we can get.No point really having a go at the poor guy,get behind him

Having very nearly sent Southampton down last year I really cant see this being a good move.

He is clearly the only yes man who wanted to work here.

Get ready for more signings (if any) of random players ala Ferrera, Kaebi etc as Pearson will just be happy being employed.

The guy has NO credentials, NO affinity to the club, NO clue, NO personality but he may just say YES at every suggestion form upstairs.

Regardless of what he achieves, at this point in time he is the worst appointment in our history.

I expect to hear the usaul "as soon as i found out Leicester were interested" spiel.

anybody but him would of been better......

If you guessed I'm not at all convinced by this

spoken to any southampton fans about him?

Why would I need to speak to Southampton fans to establish he aint all that great?

They were so impressed with him at Southampton they kept him on as manger.................

What have you consulted to come up with this well-rounded opinion of our possible new manager? He kept Southampton up. Regardless of anything else, he came in when they were really struggling & was probably charged with the task of keeping them up. He did it, surely you could therefore argue he's a roaring success. Certainly more so than the person we charged with a similar task....

Sometimes politics behind the scenes is the reason behind managerial changes. Martin Allen?

Who gives a sh*t. We can't can't sink any lower.

Let him get on with and shut up comparing him, every manager we've had since O'neill has been a waste of space.

Jesus, some of our fans are fcuking idiots

thats funny because i have just added quotes with a link in another thread suggesting some southampton fans were not too happy with him leaving the saints. they seem to think he did an ok job there and wnated to keep him on....

maybe you should sub head this thread as - "for those who are unhappy" - so people can avoid this judgemental knee jerk bolloxs.

More of a gamble than IH but it might pay off at least I am not as immediately negative as I was to IH or would be for JG.:whistle::thumbup:

All I want is:

If someone unpopular was installed I would give them my support. Just like everyone should do.

If they don't get the results, I will continue to show my encouragement hoping they will turn things round up to a point.

What I won't stand for is a lazy bunch of feckwits, tuning up each week to get paid and nothing else.

What I won't stand for is a manager without motivational or tactical skills
