Jon the Hat Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 It's hard to be ruthlessly logical when talking about Nigel Pearson. He's obviously a top, top man. His integrity and dignity won him a lot of respect last season, as did his bravery in rebuilding progressively from the back even though time was not on his side. In the end it paid off and a large majority of fans, me included, think the very least he deserves is a one year contract to really prove himself. Is this just sentiment? I don't think so. He really has proved himself worthy of the job in my eyes. But Saints being Saints I'm sure we'll let him slip through the net and watch with a sickening feeling as he transforms a struggling club into contenders while we flounder with some big-shot manager that can't get along with Rupert Lowe. I'd rather forego the rumoured investment if it meant Nigel staying. He's a prized asset at a club with very few hereos and his departure would be yet another body blow for Saints fans. I already feel battered by everything that's happened. Letting Nigel go would put me firmly on the canvas. From the link posted in the Nigel Pearson thread...

Personally i'd still have Holloway here if I was Milan I would of said to Holloway you've got 10 games to get us to top of the league, anything less and your gone.

He has no experience apart from almost getting Saints relegated. There was not a single fan asking for him to become manager and he's never achieved anything as a manager. Mandaric oviously has his heart set on not getting us back into the chamionship and maybe letting us fall even further. I'm now expecting all our good players to go just so MM can cash in and get a bit more money for himself. Was 100% sure before this we would be going back up. Now am about 90% sure we won't

Face it we was hardly gonna get anyone better with the situation we are in at the minute and how you can judge the bloke when we've not even played a fooking match yet is beyond me. Forget about what he has done anywhere else, I couldn't care less, just let him get on with the job here and support him. Im fairly confident that we wont be in this league come next year (before someone wants to act like a smart arse I mean back in the championship not league two).

A person with crap stats could come in and prove himself more worthy then his stats suggest. A person with great stats could come here and mess up, destroying his good stats. It can go either way. Lets give the bloke a chance eh. I dont see this as our worst apointment in history im sure there has been worse. Peter Taylors stats suggested he would do alright, how that was wrong. Cant someone just remove this entire post. the guy who started this needs to be banned aswell. i hate the negativity of some people on here especially the person who started this thread. i for one am delighted at the appointment, a manager who is more or less starting from scratch without any real record is just what we need, he has nothing to live up to really and hes worked with england under 21s so hes likely to be the man to notice our young talent and newcastle who are a huge club and if hes been around that sort of structure then he will of learnt alot. i cant wait for july 1st when all the fun can start and we can all be positive not like the idiot who started this and i know pleanty of people agree with me

When we had Megson which we all knew wasnt going to last and there have been others, Im sure Pearson wont be as bad Peter Taylor. FACT. Pearson wasnt my first choice but as long as he does his best for the club then I wont complain.

I supported Kelly when everybody wanted him sacked, I supported Allen, Megson and I wanted to keep Holloway. I'll always support the club and I've never booed the team in my life but don't tell me I have to be enthusiastic about the appointment of a nobody who hasn't succeeded anywhere.
