It has to be a good thing, regardless of how he felt about the club/fans. He was never the sharpest knife in the draw, he ran around a lot but not much more. We need someone with an eye for goal - he didn't have it. The fact he was our top scorer with 11 goals (I think) says it all....we need better! Take the money and put it to some good use for fox sake.
Joe. Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 I was pretty shocked and very disappointed when I got a text from Ched telling me this yesterday. In my opinion he was our best player, yet I never really thought he would leave. To be honest I don't think he actually wanted to leave, I think the offer was too good to turn down and he couldn't really reject the chance to play in the Championship again. I don't blame him for leaving, he's a Championship player, but I really thought he could have done the business for us next season. This looks like the start of a mass exodus for us this summer. Three out of the four that are in my opinion our best players have already left us and I hope our poorer players will follow suit.

I will say now that Hume did not want to leave. But when an offer gets accepted and you're informed that you're not in the club's plans, then you're not going to stay are you. He could have been a real hit in League One.

The biggest loss we will have this summer. 11 goals out of position in the championship, imagine how good he'd be in League One. Another thing that really hurts, is that the majority of the fans loved him, and he loved us, one of the few players that had a connection with the fans. Pick at my post or tell me someone who has/had more of connection in the past 2/3 seasons if you want ( Not you Joe, the pedants.) because i for one can't think of anyone. When players are well supported by the fans, the seem to have or be able to give that little bit extra. We have no flair players at our club anymore, or at least any recognised flair players.

We've seen some shit signings over the last few years and I don't particularly have confidence that we will find a good enough replacement but maybe this time we might find the one. This goes for all the players that have left so far. We might actually find good enough replacements for them this time. Or maybe not...

Mandaric obviously thinks he needs the cash and not the players. If we don't go straight back up this season, he'll have played his part in that.

With a smaller wage budget and presumably less agent's fees, the loss of revenue from being in League 1 should be counter-balanced and therefore I can't see us making even bigger losses personally.
