Hume Gone - Confirmed

Recommended Posts

Do you know what? I'm not sad at all that Hume has gone.

In fact, he can fook off for lying to us by saying "i'm 100% committed to helping this club get back up next season"

We'll you ain't going to do so at a crap club that's going to get relegated anyway

You dont have a clue about all the ins and outs of the transfer, so spouting that he lied to us is a load of crap!

If you have facts and can back them up then...be my guest!

Hume Keen To Make Amends

Posted on: Fri 09 May 2008

Iain Hume has apologised on behalf of all the players to each and every Leicester City fan following the club's relegation to League One.

But the 24-year-old striker has vowed to play his part in helping the club bounce back to the Championship at the first attempt.

"As players we are deeply, deeply sorry for the position we've put this club in but I can assure everyone that it wasn't on purpose," said the Canadian international.

"As far as I know, every player has given their all but we have only got ourselves to blame because we should have been safe weeks or even months ago.

"But we let it slip and were just not consistent enough as a team and as a result people have the right to be frustrated and disappointed with us.

"We've let a lot of people down and we know that. For that we are truly sorry."

The Foxes will ply their trade in the third tier of English football for the first time in their 124-year history next season following a goalless draw at runners-up Stoke City on Sunday.

"I have always given my heart and soul for this club and relegation has hurt me as much as anybody," he added.

"This great club doesn't deserve to be in the position that it now finds itself in but one thing I can guarantee the fans is that as players we will be doing everything in our power to get Leicester City back up to the Championship at the first attempt.

"This club is far too big for League One and it is now a case of getting our heads straight over the summer before coming back and focusing on the job in hand.

Doesn't make sense unless we are planning on signing a top scorer for this division for free though.

Mmm well I giess Mandaric wanted to cash in and/or Hume was on big wages (though I doubt he's the highest earner in a squad by far )

Hume wanted to go, well good luck to him; the likes of Barnsley and Leicester are probably the peak of his career, anyway.

We'll miss his hard work, occasional excellent finishes and the sharp pass every now and then, and I'm sure he could have done a great job down in League One, but I'm not too fussed about him leaving for a #1.2 million fee. Hume as Leicester's top scorer said more about the team's lack of talent up front than about Hume's own ability.

So, good luck to everyone's favorite sometimes forward/sometimes right wing/sometimes left wing, and here's hoping he finds a cozy square hole at Oakwell. As for Leicester City, well, I'm sure there's a youngster out there that can run around the pitch like a psycho and elbow bigger defenders in the neck when jumping for no-chance balls in the air on half of Hume's wages.

I know I shouldn't be this harsh on the guy, but I think Leicester can still do well without him next season.

HAHAHA what a manager, first things first, lets get rid of the best players lol JOKE

If you believe that you are an utter fool. Im sure mandaric had a slight say in the matter

Hume had no real choice

I did think something was odd about this deal. Not necessarily that Hume has left, but the fact he has gone to Barnsley. It seems to be a rushed decision. Bid accepted and told to leave, so he's gone.

Brave decision from Mandaric and Pearson if a little stupid. Pearson means business by the looks of things. Stripping it down and building it back up, it will upset some but ready for it.

Bollocks to any player whose currently here except Gradel, if they are sold then fair do's. Although Wesolowski would go with my reluctance.

This club does need rebuilding, we need to buy players that can get us out of this league and be a platform for success in the Championship. These players can't be a stop gap, i'm sure the odd one will be, but we need to build a squad that's good enoughn to get promotion and then good enough to tackle the Championship. Like Wigan recently did, Man City before that and to a certain extent Bristol City, whose squad is actually quite mediocre but they have a great team spirit and a manager who knows what he is doing.

We have just got to hope that we have struck gold with Pearson.

I'm sure Pearson was fully aware of it when he accepted the job.

I don't think Hume wanted to go to Barnsley. I don't really think he wanted to leave at all. And if he did then it would have been to a promotion chasing club. Ric is right, this IS odd.

To me it looks like Mandaric at work... offer comes in him and he snaps their hand off. Doesn't reflect too well on our financial position does it? If Pearson was involved I'd actually be impressed - stamping his authority on matters straight away. Doubt it though.

Because Barnsley came up with the cash. Iain got a phone call 2 days ago out of the blue. " Barnsley have made an offer for you and we have accepted it. Can you ring """"""" """" and see if you can arrange terms?" You mean I am not in Leicester's plans. "NO". Tell me whom out there would stay at a club who no longer wanted you. Truth is none of you.

Good Luck Iain.

If the club honestly did say that then it's a joke.

If they want to get rid of Hume ahead of Fryatt, DJ, Howard or Hayles then it is no wonder we are in the state we are in,

Some people would say it's a joke that people hold on to every 20/20 hindsight post that checkout assistant makes.

Hume was massively overrated.

Adored for no reason, just like Joey Gudjonnson.

It seems that kissing a badge occassionally and very rarely passing the ball makes you a legend in some supporters' eyes now.

Fu ck off Iain - you were sh it and I'm glad you've gone.

Possibly, but I also think it shows that both Mandaric and Pearson are aware of the under-achievement not only from the past managers but the past players and they are making an example by clearing out. Might turn out to be an excellent decision, or we could just bring in very mediocre players and struggle even more. Surely Mandaric has to get it right at some point, it's the law of averages! :giggle:

Hume didn't have to agree terms.

We can all pretend he didn't want to go there all we want, but he has gone - and actions speak louder than words.

Whether or not we really wanted him here is a moot point. Do we want any of them? They are all failures in their own specific and unique ways.

To be dissappointed about any of these players leaving is ridiculous. They are responsible for us being in the worst position EVER.

In any other job they'd have been sacked for gross incompetence, but in this one, blinkered Leicester fans have to pretend that he was amazing, loved Leicester and never wanted to leave. I bet the Tranmere fans thought that too....!

As others have said, this squad of players have been instrumental in our demise and just because they are local lads or try hard should not mean that we should hold on to them.

Clear out as many as we can I say.

Tough shit to them with names on their city shirts too. Unless it's Manadaric I don't think anyone is guaranteed to be here come the big kick off.

Can't believe people are still banging on about Hume's departure.

He is useless.

He's played at Tranmere and joined Barnsley aside from us and wasn't prolific at League One or Championship level.

To be talking about him as a player who should be competing for promotion in the Championship is ridiculous.

I'm glad he's gone and let's hope we can shift some more deadwood up top and stop clueless fans idolising players with no quality whatsoever.

Pearson should sign STERN JOHN.

Proven goal scoring record last season and worked under Pearson at Saints.

No he hasn't - he's played at Tranmere aside from us.

Wouldn't come here.

He isn't a goal scorer. We need a 20 goal scorer next season. He isn't it, lets move on.
