James_lcfc Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 I was skeptical when I first heard about an American version but I have to say it's fantastic! Probably my favorite show at the moment. Series 5 does not drop the ball - this is cracking! The newest one...'Stress Relief' made me laugh, a lot!
Alexikokopops Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 I was skeptical when I first heard about an American version but I have to say it's fantastic! Probably my favorite show at the moment. When it first came out I heard the copies of the English show were rubbish, but since its moved on and become a show in its own right it's bloody brilliant. I think I might have to get on this tonight.
Alexikokopops Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 "Now, you may look around and see two groups here - white collar and blue collar - but I don't see it that way. You know why not? Because I am a collar blind"
Edmund Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 At first when I heard that the yanks were remaking this my heart sunk but after watching it thought it was brilliant. Like others have stated the jokes are better than the english version but I will always prefer the english version as it was the first version I watched. I like the episode when they have the diversity day
Simi Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Started watching it today, loved it. The basketball match one, hilarious.
JoeyB Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Started watching it today, loved it.The basketball match one, hilarious. The first series?
ASH17LCFC Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 The first series? Yeah was on today, love it. Dwight is better then Gareth. Its never going to be as good as the English one but i find it very funny.
Finchy Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 Yeah was on today, love it. Dwight is better then Gareth. I dunno, a lot of people say this. I don't think he is really, i just think the guy who plays Dwight overacts and it's clear he's acting whereas Gareth is such a believable character and everyone knows someone like that
Fosse Boy Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 I dunno, a lot of people say this. I don't think he is really, i just think the guy who plays Dwight overacts and it's clear he's acting whereas Gareth is such a believable character and everyone knows someone like that I found that to be a problem on the US Office too. Don't get me wrong I still think it's a great show, but you do become very aware that it's a sitcom you're watching.

If it was 5 seasons of the UK version it'd be guff. Got to the end of season two yesterday. TENSE
Samilktray Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 I love the English version, never bothered with the US version though.
Alexikokopops Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 I'm on a coach at the moment. I just spent ten minutes watching the DVD logo bounce around the screen at the front to see if it hit the corner. I actually clenched my fist and said "YES" outloud when it did. I've almost finished season 4, then I've got season 5 to look forward to
Flynny Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 Episode 13 of season 5, the double episode, the one that starts with the "Fire Drill". Ahahahahaha. Best episode of it yet possibly.
Finchy Posted 2 April 2009 Posted 2 April 2009 Not the yank version but classic Gareth out-take Absolutely genius, destroys the US version
BoneDog Posted 2 April 2009 Posted 2 April 2009 Absolutely genius, destroys the US version And you know this! No doubt about it
Finchy Posted 2 April 2009 Posted 2 April 2009 "I'd..do...most nationalities" "Don't put that though, start off on the wrong foot, under the thumb, i'll be cooking all my life"
Samilktray Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Gonna try n watch the whole of series 1 n 2 before I go bed tonight.
Samilktray Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 'How is Elaine she left you yet?' *Hangs up the phone* 'I forgot she has left him'
purpleronnie Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Its huge over here but I still dont like it compared the the original its just not in the same league. But if I hadnt seen the original I'd probably like the US version but I just cant help but comparing them when I watch it. The UK one for me was just more intelligent and even though I think Steve Carell is great he isn't anywhere near as good as gervais. I think the US version like most American comedy is more obvious, and the best thing about the UK version was that it was much more subtle in its humour and I prefer that.

If you don't sit there comparing it to the original it's ace. I just view them as different programmes. One's a subtle comedy based around a documentary on the Office, the other is a brash American sitcom which is funny in a different way. I'm loving it I am going to watch the original again though when I've finished with this, that's amazing. Edit: that wasn't meant to sound like I was having a pop because you were comparing it, it's just my general view on the matter
Alexikokopops Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 No-one? I watched that one last night I was in stiches when Dwight cut the dummy's face off
