Daggers Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Microsoft warranty only covers machines with the red rings - and mine are still green. It was working before I had a bath, I left it on pause and returned to a blank TV screen. I've tried unplugging cables, unplugging power supplies...everything. At best I get a squat red or green boot up image in a 4:3 ratio but then it goes blank again. All the noises are working, games load...but either blank screens or interference only. WTF? I'm not paying out for a bloody repair job on it. If anyone has any knowledge about this, or somewhere I could go to find out more then I'll love you forever. Otherwise it is going to become a paperweight and I'm getting me a PS3. Fudging bollocks.
Samilktray Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 I've had a pretty similar problem with my computer lately.

DB11 Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Did you just install an update? If so, you may be in luck because sometimes updates can mess up your computer so just say it was that and then they should repair it for free I did it before and got it repaired for free (and I hadn't even installed an update )

I suspect wife & daughter have more than a passing involvement with this although getting either of them to fess up to it is going to be impossible. Where do I grab the support number from? I've googled for customer service but not found anything @Phube - no I didn't, I winced a lot. Next time though I'm holding a party.

Could try this number as well. 0800 5871 102 If the numbers ya ring turn up crap, try some of the homemade remedies like the 'towel trick', or fixing the x clamp (if you can be bothered.)

Flynny Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 That sounds like a faulty cable to me, but i'd hesitate to suggest it's something so relatively simple having not had a 360 myself. I'm assuming it uses Scart?
City Fan Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Why oh why did you not just get a PS3 to start with?
Flynny Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Why oh why did you not just get a PS3 to start with? Questions like this make me question having decided to stay on as a student for another four years. I don't know how much longer I can take being poor. Bah.
Darkzzz_ Posted 12 July 2008 Posted 12 July 2008 PS3 is calling! I am going to check with my mate who had this problem with his 360, I am sure he had it fixed on the cheap. I will see if he has a number, if , as I say above is true.
Phube Posted 12 July 2008 Posted 12 July 2008 Daggers... I found this number helped: 0898 21 21 21 Lots of XBox users use that phone no.!

If you got a sumsung TV, its a reoccurring problem with the motherboard & they'll fix it for free. Same thing happened to my dad.....he had to send it to GERMANY for a microsoft repair, but they paid him back his postal & repaired it for free

Nah - it's a kickass LG, and it's not the TV. The problem is with the signal being dropped upon game playing which smacks of a problem with the graphics board. I'm going to try phoning one of the numbers on Monday (think I'll give Phube's a miss). S'pose I could always get it fixed at the same time as having it chipped as that would work out cost effective in the long run. I was really enjoying Indiana Jones as well. Damn.

I did mean the motherboard on the xbox...shudda made myself clearer. May be the same problem as the xbox is about 10 months old & the tv was 2 weeks old when the problem occoured.
