Daggers Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 I wonder about the number of "fans" we have who are currently scrabbling around trying to find things to be upset and moan about.
Houdini Logic Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 I wonder about the number of "fans" we have who are currently scrabbling around trying to find things to be upset and moan about. Please tell me that comment isn't about people moaning at howard?
bigneville Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 How many crosses did we provide him with last season, all of our wingers were fookin garbage and we played route one under Holloway. Thus is true, and thats why i'm prepared to give him a chance because we haven't played the football that is suited to his game. But how long do we give him with this new style we're playing? But from what I saw of him last season, I don't see a guy who's going to score a bucketful of goals to fire us to promotion next season.
David Guiza Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 I do somewhat agree with what you saying. But to me its a big should. Am i correct in thinking he didn't score with his head last season? Although I know he can, I haven't seen it. I will give him a chance of course to prove me wrong and show that he can score goals. But i've just not seen anything to suggest he will do anything different to last season. Should'nt he have scored double figures last season though im sure when we bought him in .Everyone was saying about how he will bag double figures to be honest i cant see him doing any better then he did last season
Austin Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Think he'll do reasonable for us next year .. Feed the **** and he will score. FACT.
Guest Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Think he'll do reasonable for us next year .. Feed the **** and he will score.FACT. Don't do that, apparently he's lost loads of weight. Last thing we need is him lumbering round like last season
billyfox1 Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Don't do that, apparently he's lost loads of weight. Last thing we need is him lumbering round like last season feed the slimmer **** and he will score
Daggers Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Please tell me that comment isn't about people moaning at howard? Who else? We're completing one of the most enjoyable and optimistic pre-seasons in recent history, we have so much to be positive about and yet there's threads of FTers grasping for a new person to boo. Well **** me, LCFC isn't perfect? There's a shocker. There's a difference between constructive analysis of the shortcomings of the squad, the tactics or the individuals and purely lambasting a single player on the back of a couple of friendlies of which only a handful of people here have seen all of them. It's negative carping for its own sake and it bores me. The only end result of it is to take negative attitudes into the stands next season and, quite frankly, I've had enough of listening to miserable no-nothing ****ers carping on in my ears all game, every game. One of the most enjoyable aspects for the friendlies I've been to has been the positive attitude and bonhomie - as soon as I got away from the cnuts slaging off Howard before he'd touched a sodding ball. It's nothing short of abject, crass stupidity. I flicked through this thread so I've no idea what you or any individual wrote - I just gained an overview of the sense of the posts as a whole - so this is not directed at individual posts, just the sense of the attitude behind them. Developing a negative mindset helps no one.

kingfox Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 I think he played well last night. The best I have seen from him in a long time.
Houdini Logic Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 With regards to Howard - my comments are not based on the couple of friendlies as you have mentioned, my comments are based on his time at the club. Too many people rate players on what they should be able to do and what they have done in the past. Since Howard has been here he has not showed any bit of talent or any bit of interest, and personally that's a player i don't want in my team. People say that he 'could' be a good aerial presence and our new wingers will favour this, but i'm not quite sure where this is coming from? The few headers that Howard has scored have been average at best - nothing that any striker, regardless of size, could do. Being tall doesn't mean you're going to get on to the end of a ball, you need to have determination and drive. If you had a player like Hume and a player like Howard in the box, receiving a great ball in from one of our wingers - my money would be on Hume every time to get that ball in the back of the net. With regards to positivity - i for one am wholy optimistic for next season. i think we have a better squad going into this start of season that we had in a higher division last year! I'm not sure however, what relevance that has to criticising Howard? If i was slamming every player then i can see your point, but other than Howard (and at times DJ), who have the general consensus been slagging off in the last few weeks? I think saying it's negative carping for it's own sake is very much wrong. Howard brings this on himself, people get frustrated and they should be able to air their opinions here. I definietly don't think it's unjust. I agree with your point about people carping on all game, every game - i would never slag a player off at a football match (unlike 99% that sit around me). I thought the way people treated players like Howard and Cort last season was disgusting. However, this is an internet forum, and it is here for the purpose of people to share opinions. If people are just grasping for a new person to boo then i can see why you're annoyed (and people on here/at the ground/in Leicester in general, are far too quick to get onto players/managers), but i think when it comes to Howard most of the views on here (although not always eloquently put - The Thread Title being Exhibit A) aren't a million miles from the truth
Kilworthfox Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 I think he played well last night. The best I have seen from him in a long time. Is this the old new club line
Simi Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 I think the Howard bashing is a little harsh in all honesty. It seems people have got to a point where they will just flat out refuse to praise him. Even yesterday when he had a decent game, people were saying it was down to Fryatt. Howard does actually win his fair share in the air, but for the times he did that last season, his incompetent partner would not be reading it or would be completely off the play. For the majority of last season, our wingers were nothing short of gash and couldn't cross for shit. Howard should be feeding of these crosses but they weren't coming. All the service he got was narrow and all he could do was try and nod it on to nobody and give the ball away, or take it down and feed it back to the non existant midfield. People seem to be expecting him to be winning every ball in the air or taking it down and unleashing a thunderbolt from thirty yards. It's no coincidence what he did with Derby and Luton, perhaps his effort lacks at times, but we're playing League 1 football. He's not going to be Alan Shearer.

Fans will not forgive so easily the lacklustre performances just because the ball does not tickle his toes everytime it is passed in his direction.
bigneville Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 I think a lot of the problem with Howard is that he is one of the few players left from last season, the worst season in the clubs history. And that's why there is a lot of the issue with Howard. As i notice in other threads, Oakley still gets a bit of a bashing from time to time, and Fryatt has done until previously. (This has stopped since he started scoring and lost a lot of weight) Most of the rest of the starting players from last season have been moved on. So i guess the Howard and Oakley bashing comes from the over-hanging passion of not having any competitive football since the terrible that we were relegated last May. I'm sure as soon as the season starts and we get off to a great start, a lot of this hatred will be gone. Until we lose again of course.

Yes, because I do beleive that Howard chose the pricetag that he went for. OR, actually, could it have been our club willing to pay way over the odds for a player that is past his peak? Howard still scored double the amount of goals Fryatt did last season and he signed in January.

That is not the case though we have sold Stears the ears who was supposeably fans player of the season, Hume who was 100% effort and McAuley who was not really hated. Henderson Stearman, MaCauley, Kisnorbo, Clapham Bell, Oakley, Clemence, Hendrie Howard, Hume compared to. Henderseon Gilbert, Hobbs, Tunchev, Mattock Adams, Weso, Oakley, Gradel Howard, Fryatt The only players that have been really slated from the current possible starting line up, are the ones still here from last season. I.E Howard + Oakley

My remarks are not off the cuff or seeing him play here and there it is based on seeing him play week in week out, the bloke is a donkey. NO Speed ,No Way will he move a yard to get the ball and NO WAY should he be the Managers 1st choice.
Hackneyisblue Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 In case nobody has noticed the other name in the frame is HENDERSON. As each game goes by so more and more people are starting to question his position as No.1. What was it last night, 4 shots, 3 goals. He needs to be replaced and urgently.
Daggers Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 With regards to Howard - my comments are not based on the couple of friendlies as you have mentioned, my comments are based on his time at the club. renards Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 McLeish felt that Brum were 'bullied' by Leicesters attackers for our 1st goal. Fryatt + Howard. Trained eye and all that

He obviously needs to improve. But there is a bit of deja vou here, Mattock turn to be 'crap' last season
