:huh::unsure:

Don't act like you haven't thought about it.

As an aside, it's taken four pages for this thread to descend into a big gay farce, that's pretty good going actually.

Were you at the Birmingham game the other night?

Saw a guy there with a Leicester shirt on with the name Singh on the back. Was going to introduce myself but would have looked like a wally if it hadnt been you! lol

Was he a really good looking chap with loads of fit ladies around him and wore a massive turban, if so, it wasn't me!!!! :D

No mate, I don't have a a city shirt with Singh on the back!!! Me and Master Fox will be at the MK Dons game and probably be drinking before the game at the Swan or the Dog, so you can introduce yourself then if your interested!!!

Seeing as so many local relationships founder anyway I cannot see why you shouldn't just go for it.

Besides, if the girl really is someone you want to be with, you've no real alternative, you'll move mountains...

Of course there are problems. relationships mean problems whatever. But anything can be overcome with the right will and it's up to the two of you to work things out in a way that suits you.

My 21-year-old youngest is touring America/Canada with his fiance of four years right now and whatever happens in the future they've already had the adventures of a lifetime.

Skiing/snowboarding in the rockies, driving through hurricanes, the sights of California, rock climbing in the Grand Canyon, trip to Roswell, two weeks in Mexico, sun and seasports on Padre Island, Texas, enough air miles to get a free flight this time and an up close insight into life where it's usually over 100 degrees and where it rains twice a year if they're lucky.

And all accomplished while the two of them completed school/college studies or qualified and worked in a chosen field with all the little problems those things have presented.

So yes, it can be done and who knows where it will lead, if anywhere at all?. C'est La Vie. Just do it.

Tony, what is it with you and being unable to read topics properly??? All the best to your son and his fiancé, however, it's not really the case of a classic long distance relationship where people are separated by hundreds or even thousands of miles...

If you want a Mexico/States/Canada trip advisor, he's your man!

(Although for Canada, I'm much more suited)

Just wondering what peoples views and opinions are on the subject of long distance relationships. Do you think they can work or are they doomed to fail!

Please discuss! :)

I spent two years apart from wife#1, she'd visit once or twice a month - it worked out fine. Depends on who you are really doesn't it - if you have a strong bond and you trust each other then there's no worries.

We never argued or carped and found a whole new level of communicating - for me that meant mainly slurring down the phone at 2 in the morning. :D

Ooooo how freaky this thread appears! i myself have just come outta a long distance relationship

It wasn't a very long relationship either but things were going well, till she told me she just couldn't handle it..we are trying to work on things and there could be another go at it in the end, i was doing all i could my end! talking to her everyday on the phone, net, etc and making sure we would see eachother every month for at least 3 days, visiting eachother that kinda thing! she lived in Surrey it's hardly Australia!

The distance imo wasn't an issue and i was coping well with it, but obviously she wasn't!

Thanks mate and same to you aswell i read your post and all you can do yaself is just work on it the best you can, do all you can and least you can say if it doesn't work out well i did all i could!

I wish you the best of luck as there will be some speed bumps as you said, times you will feel like you wanna see her but it's just impossible at that time to do it, times she will get abit grumpy due to the same issue! BUT if you just work together on it and can handle it together then things will become abit more acceptable if that makes sense and then time will kick in and then who knows what the future will bring!

 I feel honoured.

Seriously, I would love to. My football watching buddy has left the country. Would be nice to meet some new people.

I shall kindly ask Smuts to hold me hand pre MK DONS.
