JoeyB Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 I know how stupid this may sound, but i have just been thinking, by getting relegated i think it is a good thing for Leicester, not only will we have cleared out the dead weights who do not want to play for the club, now it has enabled us to bring youngsters through and start to rebuild the team, and bring in players who do want to play for us. After watching a few friendlies and seeing the new signings gel into the side, i must say im really looking forward to this campaign, although we have gone down, which in my view was the worst day of my life, and the worst day in the clubs history i think its given us chance to start rebuilding the squad, getting a blend of decent youngsters and experienced players, ready for the climb back up the league! When Pearson came in, i thought what a joke do we want to go anywhere, but the more i see him, and the more i see his signings, i think he will become a decent manager for us, he knows what he wants, and it seems like the players WANT to play for him I for one am Very Excited and will be attending as many matches as i can! You can curse me all you like, (or Praise me ) but this is my view, and everyone is entitled to thier own opinion! Come on you Blues

JoeyB Posted 2 August 2008 Author Posted 2 August 2008 I think it has taken a lot of pressure off the club, the players and the fans. What's with the colour though Just fancied a change
lcfcrinaldi Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 I agree, going down was a reality check. I think its woke everyone up and got everyone desperate to get back.
Milky Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 It "could" be a good thing. It could also see the start of a prolonged period in the lower leagues...
Guest Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 Ask me in a year's time!! In all seriousness, had we stayed up, I would guess that we would have continued to sign players who were past it, or getting past it, and looking for a pay day, the sort who wouldn't want to ply their trade in the lower leagues. We have the chance to rebuild the team. I really hope that we do that.
Guest Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 It "could" be a good thing. It could also see the start of a prolonged period in the lower leagues... There's the answer for you. All signs are promising and hopefully this was the reality check that the club needed
LeeCovFox Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 I definitely feel a lot more optimistic this season than I have for the last couple of years, but also a little frightened about what to expect. Based on pre-season, and I accept that it is a dangerous thing to do, we seem at long last to have a manager whose footballing priciples are based on attacking, which has to be welcomed.
Corky Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 It will only be a good thing if we can come back stronger. Hopefully we will do well this year, and the fans and players will never want to come back to this level. Ask again at the end of the season.
morris1234 Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 i wouldnt say it was a good thing but it is a total reality check for players, fans and staff at the club and for other clubs also in the sense that nobody has the devine right. but lets hope we ca get a winning mentality!
CupidStunt Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 getting relegated can never be a good thing, only in hindsight can you say that it is,if you bounce back up. if we had stayed up,holloway would still have been sacked, and we still would have had a new manager, and you would have still had the same optimism as you do have now, only difference is that the target would have been the premier league instead of the championship ask yourself this, last game of the season, stay up,or go down, the answer of course is stay up I know what you are saying,as i thought myself....."serves the bastards right" "it might do us some good",but that was to only console myself to the fact we got relegated to league 1. On a side note,I have a good feeling about us for the season to come, scoring aint gonna be a problem,we have too much attacking flair I think we lots more to come from the likes of gradel and porter, just the conceding of goals concerns me a little
The Stig Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 Ask me in a year's time!! Couldn't put it better myself.
wellsy Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 Its good, woke us up a little bit. Im actually excited about this season as we have a chance of doing something worthwile. Unlike the last few seasons where we weren't looking on doing anything. Good season ahead I reckon
gilesyboy Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 It was good thing. Over the last few seasons, relegation has been a bit of a dirty word and the white elephant sitting at our table from mid season onwards. The chairman's spent millions on players who we look to to 'turn it around', brought managers in a an alarming rate and as fans we spend a lot of time questioning the clubs' direction and ambition and debating the endless permutations of relegation and how to avoid it and with it all any optimism about the club has been slowly eroded away. Finally that we have taken the leap (or stumble and fall) into relegation I think we've all realised that it's not actually all that bad and a new optimism will wash over the club as hungrier, fresher players are signed to 'get us up' rather than to 'prevent us going down'. I think now the boil has been lanced I think the management, the club, the players and supporters can finally look in the right direction not over our shoulders to the new season and brighter future. After all we surely can't be bad enough to go down to league 2.......?
dandannieldanok Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 I guarantee those who are saying it is a good thing will change their minds when they are trudging through the streets of Brighton on a soggy Tuesday October night having just seen us lose 1-0 and slip into 17th place. I'm sorry to all the eternal optimists but I just can't see how relegation is a good thing at all, even if we have a good season and get promoted.
ASH17LCFC Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 Lisa was spot on with the .. Ask me next year. We could have a great time in the league and start winning and get abit of confidence back into our side. People will come back in time and be alot happier seeing us at the right end of the league for a change. Watching Leicester at home for the last 5 years has been shit and we need that to change. We should be looking forward to our home games and the away team coming here knowing that haven't got a chance. The other thing that could happen is ..... But lets just stick with the top one for now.
James. Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 After today I'm more excited about this season than I was about last season.
Maybes Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 If we bounce straight back, it will have been a good thing as we will come back up with a winning mentality and a good squad. However we dont want to linger in this league for too long.
Daggers Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 After today I'm more excited about this season than I was about last season. No one could've been more excited about last season than I was before Blackpool. I was the most excited. I was more excited than a sub-atomic particle racing around a particle accelerator in Switzerland. This season I'm altogether more meh!
HitchinFox Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 Winning brings confidence and if we, like some have suggested, stroll this league, then winning could well become a culture that we carry to the next season. I know it is a massive presumption, but winning games in the Championship might just become a little easier if we know how to win in the first place – no matter if it is Div 1 this year. Look at Man City. After the four years we've just had, losing became the norm. I'm not saying that we'll storm our way up to the Prem in two years, but winning games does funny things to a team - no matter what the sport and what the level. Anyway, am smashed as only just got back from game so might read this tomorrow and gringe but there – I said it. We'll win the fooking World Cup. Good night everyone...

But will only be worthwile if we go straight back up and some of the youngsters turn out to be great players!
Ashley Posted 3 August 2008 Posted 3 August 2008 I think it was a good thing us being relegated. I've only seen one pre season game and Leicester played the best football i've seen in almost 5 years also reading peoples posts on here things are looking good for this comming season.
Jordan Posted 3 August 2008 Posted 3 August 2008 The only good thing about this is the chance for some of the younger players to get decent playing time this season. If Leicester win promotion after just one season, then there's a chance that they could be in the Championship younger, more talented and on lower wages than any of the previous LCFC teams in the second division from '04-'08. Relegation has forced City to go through a rebuilding process, one they should have done following the failure to bounce back in '04-'05.
Ben Posted 3 August 2008 Posted 3 August 2008 I agree, I think it was a case of things having to get worse before they got better.
CupidStunt Posted 3 August 2008 Posted 3 August 2008 well the news of the world have us down as finishing in 2nd place behind leeds,so thats good enough for me I'll sue the fookers if they are wrong
