Our friend wiki:

Ömer Kerim Ali Rıza (born November 8, 1979 in Edmonton, North London, London, England) is a Turkish football striker (of Turkish Cypriot descent) who currently plays for Trabzonspor.

[edit] Club career

Rıza started his career as a youth with English club Arsenal and made his first team debut on November 2, 1998 against Derby County in the League Cup. He also travelled with the team on away fixtures against Dynamo Kyiv and Panathinaikos as a substitute in the Champions League. With few first-team opportunities at Arsenal, during 1998-99 he went on loan to ADO Den Haag for three months, scoring five goals for the Dutch side.

In the 1999-00 season, he moved to West Ham United, but again was unable to break into the first team. He went on loan to Barnet and Cambridge United, and signed a permanent deal with the latter in 2002. During the 2002-03 season he scored 17 goals for United, which prompted a move to Turkcell Super League side Denizlispor during the 2003 close season. In January 2006, he signed for Trabzonspor.

O_o

What the HELL do we need ANOTHER striker here for!?! Not to mention unproven and by the looks of it, total and utter sh*te too!

For God's sake, surely there are better things we can be spending money on rather than buying in any old foreign crap that MIGHT fit the bill!?!!!!

No idea what Riza's like but his CV hardly sounds convincing and my initial impression is that he'd be another from the school of lame ducks we had last year. Yes I've noted his 17 goals for Cambridge - back in the days of Kemal Ataturk wasn't it - but there's not a lot of substance mentioned since, for a bloke nearing 30.

But, if it's a potential Pearson-team signing who knows? He might be what we call in the antiques trade "a sleeper".

i can only think dudley and /or Barrington are on their way..

I certainly think DJ could be going, although he's been given number 10 it appears he is our 4th choice striker. Can't say I'd be disappointed to see him go. As for Barry, doubt anyone will take him off our hands.

I was told some weeks back that DJ was moving close to Watord and might well leave but he's looked lively and commited enough in pre-season.

Based on Howard's efforts in the friendlies I was surprised DJ didn't start Saturday but selections are often a bit of a mystery at City and while some people get the breaks and more opportunities than they perhaps deserve, others are in and out likes the oars of an Olympic sculler.

With Howard and Chambers being injured though - it looked like his hamstring to me - I wouldn't say we're spoilt for attacking choices, particularly if Pearson thinks we need another big target man. Not that I've any idea if Riza fits that profile.
