Where's a good place to get it sorted? All I can think of is Halfords. PLEASE NOTE: It's a five hour round trip for me to get to Leicester. Recommending places in and around Leicester won't really be that helpful, but recommend away. There's a possibility I could sort something out around a home game.

There's loads of places around Leicester. But Autoelectronics (?) just of Welford Road near the Walkers are cheap cheap cheap. That's where I had my Parrot thing from. And you could leave your car there and walk to the game.

I have an iTrip and after a year or so I'm fed up of it. I was driving down from North Yorkshire and tring to listen to an album and kept having to change frequency about 20 times a song. Plus it has an incredibly annoying buzz. And drains the battery. I'm gonna have my car for a good while yet, so fancy spending a few bob on getting something so I can plug the iPod in, it;'ll be perfect quality, I don't have to faff around changing frequency and it'll charge it while it's at it.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 14 August 2008 Posted 14 August 2008 Try an online place called CarAudio Security - they have loads of sets and models etc - so even if you don't buy one from them, you can get an idea about what you want, the sort of price etc. There based in London on the Tottenham Court Road if I remember - and i bought my Alpine set from them. Free fitting isn't essential for putting in just a car stereo - I managed. (Although if you're getting speakers, sub and anything else maybe free fitting would be handy.)

A really good option is the following if you have an AUX input connection in your car... Sorted.

But does exactly what I want, managed to find some pirate radio stations as well. You can get Halfords to fit any of the Cd players, but you have to book your car in for a certain time. Their trying to get most people buy ones with bluetooth in now, but I didn't pay the extra 50 quid, didn't see the point.

Basically allow you to speak to someone on the phone, hearing them through the speakers of the car. I think thats right. Best thing about having the Ipod being plugged in is the ability to change the song using the CD player rather then pissing about with the iPod.

I'd prefer pissing around with the iPod to be honest, my mate had one that you did through the CD player and it were proper gash interface. In that case, go for one of the fancy CD players. Because Ford are retards the newer Fiesta has a stupid interface. To fit a normal radio in I need to spend £40 on a new console thingy (only available directly from Ford) and the cable to connect the radio. So I can either spend £55 on that and then £100 minimum on the radio, plus £40 on fitting (I'll be damned if I'm fitting any of that). I can also get a thing they connect to the stereo with technically plays through the radio (but not in the same way as a cheaper FM transmitter). Unfortunately I have to spend £40 on getting that fitted. So we're looking at £140. Bloody Ford. All the benefits of that heated front windscreen (God that's good) have now been erased

Vauxhall don't, which is a bit crap as you have to get an after market one which may or may not be the same colour as the interior of your car. I'm going to do it though, as the stereo in mine is shit I quite like the stereo in my Fiesta. It's not small, fiddly and ugly like most of the ones I looked at today. I think I might go down the £140 route. At least the cradle thing for the iPod is ordered specifically for your car and for where you want it mounted so it doesn't look ridiculously out of place. I'll be earning proper money soon, I should probably start spending it on ridiculous things.
