Matt Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 ...But it's nice looking at this isn't it?! For 4, 5 years now I have not really bothered looking at the table, Infact i've ignored it as much as possible until it got down to panic time then I had to look at it to work out a master plan of getting out of the shite from last season, but I have to keep looking at the table this season I can't help myself. It's early in the season, It's nothing to get overly excited about just yet but it certainly brings a smile to my face every time I look at it.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 I smile more when I see the gulf (in places, not points) between us and Leeds.
Matt Posted 24 August 2008 Author Posted 24 August 2008 Stop being so optimistic! It's not like you! I'm not, Just yet. I'm just saying it nice to look at table and feel happy for the first time in 5 years. Optimistic? No, In those 5 years all Leicester City fans have looked forward and happy to the seasons ahead to have had it thrown back in our faces and feel down, I've learnt not to get that optimistic over those years...Hence why I keep saying - Yet. P.S - I've had few beers, vodka's, maybe causing what you call optimism.
lefox Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 Hmmmm.. I'm slightly excited.. optimistic? Ask me again after Millwall..4 away games is heavy going so if we get through that and IF we put up a good fight against Harrods then maybe just maybe I may consider myself optimistic. So far so good, always nice to see us second, even if it is in this hellhole called league one.
A fox for life Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 **** sake were 4 points from relegation... SACK HIM!
iancognito Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 I wouldn't be surprised to see those as the final places too, save for Leeds & Southend being a bit higher perhaps. It's a good start but the key will be how we react to a defeat. If we get a defeat of course
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 **** sake were 4 points from relegation...SACK HIM! And two points behind OLDHAM! Who are they?!?! Pearson out.

If we get a defeat of course Yeah I was saying that after the match yesterday, That will be the test, That is the thing i'm dreading, I'm sure we'll be fine but after all the years of conceading late on, and how we have reacted after losses just puts that bit of doubt in our minds, We have a few new players playing for us but we still have a few players from last season, we'll see how a loss effects there minds. I feel after all these shite years at Leicester fans and players have fragile minds and mental blocks, Hopefully we can put a few ducks behind us this year though and this really will be the season it all changes.
Lillehamring Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 too be honest, away games might not be so bad in this leauge, teams are gonna feel special playing at the walkers. ...also two of our three games have been against teams in the top 7
Ajax Treesdown Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 Another tidy win next sat and i'll be even happier!!
demon_dog Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 It looks good at the moment doesn't it. The one thing that's holding back my optimism is recalling Leeds fightback last season. 15 points adrift, they managed to charge up the table. Many a pundit tipped them to go up. Look what happened. I'd rather see us sitting first with one game to go and four points above the team below us. :w00t:
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 Its just refreshing to see a City side with an actual gameplan that works! e i e i e i o.........

And we are 15 points better of than them so if we mirror what Leeds did last season (Or even undercut what Leeds did last season) we will have absolutely no problem at all. It's all if's and but's though. I'm still not getting too optimistic yet though, At the moment nothing is wrong, but us Leicester fan's know how quick that can change.
Daggers Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 e i e i e i o......... I couldn't help myself, it felt wrong not to join in after so many seasons of shit and misery. I'm more than happy to grab my fun while I can, who knows what crap awaits for us around the corner?! Sharing pints and laughs before the game has now been made better: It's lovely to look around and see people smiling...to listen to the hubub of chatter as you walk out of the ground instead of the morose trudge of moans.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 I'm feeling quite optimistic under the New Leicester City and Nigel Pearson. The fans have got to be prepared for some ugly games like yesterday. Danny Coyne spoke about frustrating the players and the crowd and I think this will be most teams plan when they play us. The Kop pissed me off a bit yesterday with being a bit fcuking highly strung. Saying that, I have an optimistic outlook this year (with my feet firmly on the floor).

Here here,if it takes a season of winning ugly I'll take it as long as it ends in promotion, has to be a top 2 finish though the play offs are such a lottery!

They are but being promoted via play-offs > being promoted automatically. Being knocked out of the playoff = Worst feeling ever. Playoffs are so exciting but very nerve racking, Basically I want a big day out at Wembley and a big win at Wembley.

Matt Posted 24 August 2008 Author Posted 24 August 2008 Johnstones Paint it is then!! I'd take it. Seriously. And who am I to judge? But I am quite disappointed in the fans who want to go out of this and don't care about, Granted if it promotion or Johnstone's Paint Trophy, Promotion wins every time, and If it was a case of Johnstone's Paint Trophy messing up the league campaign I want out of the Trophy but I think we should go for it, If we hit problems throughout the campaigns we'll review it then. But some fans just want out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy for the sake of being out of it.

I can understand that completely, but isn't just a tiny bit of you a bit embarrased that were in this!!!??
Matt Posted 24 August 2008 Author Posted 24 August 2008 I can understand that completely, but isn't just a tiny bit of you a bit embarrased that were in this!!!?? Not really silverwares, silverware and this is the most realistic silverware we can win IMO. Put it this way I was more embarrassed last season, and season's before that.
Daggers Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 But some fans just want out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy for the sake of being out of it. Nope - I (maybe 'we') want out of them all to prevent injuries occuring that impact on our League performances. These competitions are pointless frippery - irrelevant bling to our season, a season that will be long and hard-fought. People just want success in the Piss-Pot Cup because they want to be able to impress their work colleagues and class-mates...but no one gives a toss about it. We aren't going to win the big two cups either, the most we get out of it is the possibility of a scalp of a club from a team higher up in one round. Villa was fun last season - but irrelevant. Chelsea robbed the club of a player for the rest of the season and saw us playing Hume and Hayles in his place. That is simply a nonsense and losing key players to such vanity doesn't bear contemplation.
