MC Prussian Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Nice to see a Swiss side in Pot Three for once.
dandannieldanok Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Why are Arsenal and Liverpool in Pot One, it's ridiculous.
Uncle Albert Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Why are Arsenal and Liverpool in Pot One, it's ridiculous. No having Chelsea in pot four is ridiculous along with Arsenal. Never won Champs League.
dandannieldanok Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 No having Chelsea in pot four is ridiculous along with Arsenal. Never won Champs League. You shouldn't be living on past glories though like Liverpool, they're lucky to be in the main draw never mind the first pot. Can't believe the German champions aren't in there ahead of them. For me it should be the top 2 in the prem league only in the first pot, if that even.

You cant really expect to have the Portugeses Champions in there though? At least Liverpool have some European pedigree compared to Arsenal. Lyon shouldnt be in there either, its just because they usually get to the Quarter Finals.

If I remember correctly the coefficients for European competitions like this are done on recent performance in European competition. Liverpool won it three years ago and made the final again last year so they're naturally going to be up there. Arsenal also made the final a couple of years ago so that's probably why they're up there. They've also consistently made it to the Champions League and through the group stages in recent seasons. Bayern Munich failed to make the Champions League last season so that's had an effect on their seeding. Of course I could be talking total bollocks, but I think that's why.

Yea it is all done on coeffcient points, check the UEFA website and it will show every teams points. That's why Lyon are in the top pot as they are consistently getting to the knock out stages of the Champs League.

Uncle Albert Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Here are the coefficients Muchos Gracias. There was me doubting Chelsea and they are highest team on there.
dandannieldanok Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Not a surprise to see a governing body like UEFA complicate something with coefficients, if they just did it purely on league positions it would see much fairer IMO anyway, which counts for very little.
Tommeh Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Watching it on SSN, the whole thing is an absolute farce. Cech best keeper - fook off Terry - fook off Lampard - fook off Next up Drogba? Who judges this shite, Scolari? FARCE!
Samilktray Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 All Chelsea players winning the awards? You've got to be kidding me ?! Romans slipped the judges a few quid or something.

lildave3 Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: The team I hate most of all (outside of East Midlands) against the team I love most of all (outside of Leicester) Fantastic!
Nugent Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 That was so longwinded. And how to John Terry win that award ahead of Vidic/Ferdinand?
purpleronnie Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 I would love Celtic to beat Man U again, that was funny.
Father Ted Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Liverpool are going to struggle and I'm glad! Also, well done to all the minnow teams I've never heard of
dandannieldanok Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Got a feeling Arsenal and Liverpool will struggle, Chelsea and Man United should top their groups comfortably.
