samlcfc Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 doing awesome wit man city at the moment havnt lost for ages, just set a record ten wins in a row just won the carling cup against liverpool, somehow with a few injured players beat napoli 4-0 on aggregate in the uefa cup somehow even though my attack was full of injured and inneligible players
morris1234 Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 check out antoine n'gossan. not a regen, hes been on past games, looks like he could be good. also check jan moravek, great young player, good passer.
Finnegan Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 i am failing with palace Majorly. Forgot to adjust the budget on the database?
potter3 Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 In my experience, learning to be a good judge of player stats is a cornerstone of the game. There are very few times I'd take the AI's opinion over my own. I'm assuming the AI just judges them on current/potential ability?
shen Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 I'm assuming the AI just judges them on current/potential ability? That would be a good assumption. The AI tells nothing about the realisation of the potential ability.
Finnegan Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 I'm bored. I'm thinking up a fantasy challenge for FM. Going to mess around with the Editor and see if I can make a European super league. A two-tier league of Europe's best clubs, if possible (from what I know of the Editor it should be.) If there's any interest when I'm done (and it works) I'll host it if anyone wants to try it out. It's going to use the start-of-season database, not 9.3 - so if anyone's got any recommended changes then let me know. Going to give Arsenal and Man Utd a bit of a rebalancing for a start. I've also noticed Robbie Keane has a pace / acceleration of 13 on my game so I'll be giving that a nudge. Stuff like that. Suggestions welcome. The idea will likely be to start with one of three fairly smaller European clubs in the second tier and aim to top the table. The difficulty will likely be in making sure things like the CL and Uefa Cup still work. As it stands, the two leagues are likely to look as follows (again, if anyone's interested, suggestions are welcome.) 1. Liverpool2. Man Utd 3. Chelsea 4. Juventus 5. Inter Milan 6. Roma 7. Barca 8. Real Madrid 9. Villareal 10. Lyon 11. Marseille 12. Bayern Munich 13. Werder Bremen 14. Zenit 15. Panathinaikos 16. PSV 17. Sporting CP 18. Porto ** 1. Bordeaux 2. AC Milan 3. Hertha 4. Arsenal 5. Shaktar Donetsk 6. Ajax 7. Valencia 8. CSKA 9. Basel 10. Dinamo Z 11. Galatasaray 12. Olympiakos 13. Cluj 14. FC Kobenhavn 15. Standard Liege 16. Sparta Praha 17. Fenerbahçe 18. Partizan Belgrade 19. Celtic 20. Lech Poznan League one is modeled on the current Champions League season. League two is a bit of a best-of-the-rest, I've tried to only put one team per country in the second league with the honourable exception of Turkey as I ran out of ideas and they should arguably have had a team in league one. Will dump Galtasaray if anyone's got a better idea. Edit: Looks like it's possible. Will require buttloads of annoying, tiny fixes on the editor but it should work.
DB11 Posted 5 March 2009 Author Posted 5 March 2009 <post> What country are you basing it on that has 18 teams in the top league and 20 in the second? It can't be England??? And why aren't you using the 9.3 database?
dandannieldanok Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 My Man City season is kind of taking a similar path to theirs in real life. It's April and I'm 8th in the Premier League due to major inconsistencies, can perform brilliantly one week then terribly the next. The cups have been kinder (except the FA cup, out in the 3rd round); got to the semis of the carling cup but lost 4-3 on aggregate to Liverpool and I've now got a UEFA Cup semi tie against Athletico Madrid which could be epic. Beat AC Milan 2-2 on aggregate (away goals) the round before which was my best moment of the season.
Fox You Forest Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 What country are you basing it on that has 18 teams in the top league and 20 in the second? It can't be England???And why aren't you using the 9.3 database? He means 38 top team from around all European leagues. Man Utd Inter Barca... etc.. Well at least i think he does.
lcfc_jme Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 And why aren't you using the 9.3 database? Because if you look at a lot of his recent posts in this thread, you'll realise he thinks the new update is absolutely wank and has killed the match engine. Anyway Finners, when this gets up and running, I'll gladly have a go at it if possible. I will have a lot of free time **cough revision cough** coming up soon so it makes sense.
Finnegan Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 What country are you basing it on that has 18 teams in the top league and 20 in the second? It can't be England???And why aren't you using the 9.3 database? I'm hijacking Holland because I know it doesn't have particularly restrictive rules about where players can be signed or registered from and because - besides the top few teams - it's a pretty wank league if we're honest. I looked around the Serb, Croat, Czech etc leagues but they all had too few teams and I don't think I can change the amount of teams in a league through the Editor. I realised in hindsight I should have done the Belgian league but that thunderbolt didn't strike until I'd flushed the Dutch league of teams and renamed it. It's the 9.1 database because, generally, I hate the idea of January databases. The whole point is playing and doing what you'd do over a season. I'll get working on it today and tomorrow and I imagine will host this sometime tomorrow night. When I laid down to think about it there's actually a fair bit of work to do - simply making the league and replacing / promoting teams to make the leagues they've leflt work will be a pain in the ass. On top of that I'm going to go around and throw in a load more rivalries to make it more interesting. So the German clubs with have rivals with the Polish and Dutch clubs, the English and the Scots, the French and the Germans, the Croats and the Serbs (though I think that exists already tbh) stuff like that. I'm also going to have to get through the countries participating and force them all into the ECC just incase work permits or Fgn status is ever an issue. I'm going to write up a challenge when I'm done. I'll not give away too much now but the aim of the game will likely revolve around getting one of the three weakest teams from B to the top of the A league whilst maintaining a fixed amount of your nationality's players in theh squad. PS: If anyone's into graphics and is as bored as I am - try knocking up some logos for "UEFA Super League" and "UEFA Pro League" (pardon the tacky names, I was tired. =P)
Samilktray Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 That sounds potentially fantastic. Look forward to it.
lcfc_jme Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Currently building for major success at Wolves. Won the Premiership in my 3rd season, great effort I thought. Into my 4th season, currently 1st by 3 points but Everton and Liverpool have a game in hand. Some of my free signings have been epic, to be honest: Daniel Opare (R. Madrid) Nigel de Jong (HSV) Lukas Podolski (Bayern) Henri Saivet Jack Wilshere Eden Hazard Matias Fernandez for £10m, Fazio for £29m, Mavuba for £10m and Buananotte for £6m is also good business. Akinfeev on the way as well. Successful times.
Finnegan Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 I got Saivet on a free, I'm sure he's still supposed to be a -10 talent but he never delivered for me. Wilshire's alway seemed to be available on a free but would never come to me. He was like on a rolling monthly contract at Arsenal and always told me to get bent - even when I qualified for the CL! UNBELIEVABLY PISSED. It's somehow deleted my database. Starting again. <_<

First season abroad for him as well so not too bad. Wilshire just got sent off in a CL game but has won young player of the month. He's also my leading player in terms of ratings this season. The future's bright. The future's orange.
Finnegan Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Okay. I've hit a major snag early on. I can't get my editor to save databases now. This is very odd. Trying to read up on the 9.3.0 patch to see if it's a known bug but I can't see anything.
Samilktray Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Started a game as Glentoran. Hoping I can stick to this 1.
Finnegan Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Okay, we are off the ground. I've had to edit an old existing database as it won't let me save a new one. It's an old beta version of what I'm trying to do now, anyway, where I tried to put the SPL in the Prem (yeah, yeah, boo hiss )
GLC Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 I feel sorry for Craig Bellamy on my game, in the Man City team until january scored 12 in something like 21 games, then Man City bring in Mario Gomes and Podolski and he's dropped and sent out on loan to Cardiff Edit: He's not even playing for them

He was moaning lately that the Wales fans didn't respect him for never playing for a Welsh club. He'll be happy now.

Finnegan Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Haha jokes. I tell you what, if the game crashes because I've changed the nations of these teams to 'Holland' but their home cities are marked as elsewhere I'm going to slit my wrists. I'd have to go and edit 38 stadiums / cities.
