Lovejoy Posted 15 June 2009 Posted 15 June 2009 Might have to jump on the free DB bandwagon myself. I fancy Italy, question is who?

That's exactly like in USM 2/98... ! They have just taken the idea from there and not even improved it

General Smuts Posted 16 June 2009 Posted 16 June 2009 Started well with Watford, won 2 of my first 3 games in the Championship. Didn't make any major changes just reshaped the squad a little.Transfers in: Ivan Amaya (£700k), Erik Huseklepp (£300k), Vladimir Weiss (loan) Transfers out: Jobi McAnuff (£2.5m), Lee Williamson (£525k), Mart Poom, Richard Lee, Steve Kabba (all released) For once all my signings have been successful so far, especially Huseklepp who is a creative winger, if you are in the championship have a look at him he's very good for the price I got him at. Huseklepp is a great FM player.
Maybes Posted 16 June 2009 Posted 16 June 2009 I just signed Messi for Roma £35,500,000 - BARGAIN!!!!
General Smuts Posted 16 June 2009 Posted 16 June 2009 Gonna start as a big club tonight. Possibly in the Italian league. Bored of Elfsborg already.
Finnegan Posted 16 June 2009 Posted 16 June 2009 If I try a free database MLS game, what sort of standard of players you reckon I'll manage to wangle? And are they really stupidly easy? Like, do you really get teams only signing one or two players?

Like, do you really get teams only signing one or two players? Yes. On mine, Man Utd are currently bottom 20 games in, havent won or drawn and have only signed Brad Friedel.

Like, do you really get teams only signing one or two players? Signed Huntelaar up front for Toronto. When i get in i'll post the rest of my team. With the MLS you have to have a certain number of yanks as well so it's better in that league. MLS also has draft picks as well so all the teams are always full - they have to have a minimum number of players as well which helps. Worth doing at all? :\ Definately, my favourite thing about FM is buying players. You have to buy an entire squad! I also enjoy winning. You can win a lot with great teams.
General Smuts Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 Set myself a challenge. Tonight i'm starting an under 21 dream team game to prove to Alan Hansen that you can win things with kids. I'm gonna pick one of the top 4, probably Arsenal cos they love the kids and sell off everyone over 21 and buy in youths. Top targets - Eden Hazard, Keirrison, John Fleck, Robert Acquafresca, Miralem Pjanic, Kyriakos Papadopoulos, Mamadou Sahko.
Finnegan Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 Keirrison's wank, to be honest. Not got a huge amount of potential and there's way better strikers. I've never managed to get Lyon to sell Pjanic.

Finnegan Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 Good luck telling Ebou he's moving to the Brazillian league.

lcfc_jme Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 I honestly cannot believe people look past Reimond Manco, seriously. His stats seems ridiculously average and for a striker he has disgusting finishing according to stats.. But he scores an outrageous amount of goals. Averaged 1 in 1.57 or some such number for me in the Prem.

People will report how good he was for them in their formation and system, others try them and they're toss. I loathe to play anyone in the top flight with finishing below 16 unless I know they're otherwise quality or will improve.

Hmmm.. It's just that every time I've scouted him on these games, it's been said that he has the potential to far exceed Lewandowski's ability blah blah blah, but his finishing has always looked suspect. I decided to snap him up this time and haven't been disappointed as of yet.. Can do a job up top or play anywhere across the midfield, as well. I think he cost me like £1.5m and now he's worth £14.5m, not bad economics in my book I'm now switching my attentions to Denis Alibec, anyway. Newcastle have him at the min, he's 20 and has finishing ability of 19. He'll do nicely.
lcfc_jme Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 Also, just out of interest, is Tugs a better training schedule than Darkstarr, or are they pretty similar and just need tweaking to your own requirements?
Finnegan Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 I use Tugs as a base but I disagree with his Wingers, AMC and Strikers so change them myself. He doesn't really value Tactics and Ball Control training where as I do. I just had a peak at that kid on my database and he's shocking. Not sure how much he improves with training and first team games but he's got finishing six an most of his other key stats are about ten (off the ball, composure, first touch, etc) except for pace and acc and even they're only like 14 and 16.

Manco? I did say statistically he was dreadful depends what year you're in? He's improved no-end since I signed him, I'd say it was all to do with proper training and first-team exposure, though. EDIT: Signed for £2.2m and now worth £14m.. Only averaged under 7 in one season (his first for me; in the Prem) where he scored 11 in 30 games and had 6 assists.
