Finnegan Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 Celtic or Rangers im toying with. Why would you do that? What's the challenge? I had a Hibs game that was fun, but why be one of the Old Firm? Unless you're doing it purely just to win the Champions League and that sounds a bit dicey to me.

lildave3 Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 I had a Celtic game on 08, it was fun. Fun before I got sacked in my 3rd season and moved to Siena. Then it just got crazy.
JoeyB Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 Scottish Div 3 team next for me. gotta be stenhouse or cowdenbeath
JoeyB Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 Rangers only have 1M to spend, and are expected to challenge for the title. Not a bad challenge is it.
Finnegan Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 Rangers only have 1M to spend, and are expected to challenge for the title. Not a bad challenge is it. But you've got a squad good enough to murder most teams in the league, probably some excess players you can ship for £5m+ and you just know the computer Celtic will lose more than you will unless you really balls up.

Darchville and another player are about the only one's i can afford to sell for 2M between em, and they won't leave. Kris Boyd is the only player worth 5M +. And my best CB just been ruled out for 8 months
Granno Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 Left Hinckley after 1 season, led them to 6th, 3 points off the play-offs. I decided this was as far as I could take them. Barrow got relegated into the Blue Square North and sacked their manager, so I took over, as they have a greater chance of promotion. First game of the season.. Hinckley vs Barrow
Lovejoy Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 This is one of my best achievements on FM, this in the 2nd season in the prem, with a squad that should have been mid-table material : Top scorer Kerrison got 19 in 31 in the league. And I didn't lose in the last 30 league games .
Finnegan Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 Fair play to you, I'm in that season at the moment but I'm only about 8th. But then this time last year I was about 15th and finished 5th, so we'll see. Signed some amazing free signings this year. Henri Saivet, Coutinho and now Rodney Sneijder (who'd be world class if he had more than 10 Spd / Acc.) I might actually do something rare for me in FM, and play more than four seasons just to see how my youngsters evolve.

fox123 Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 Macauley Chrisantus is amazing, picked him up on a free transfer from HSV.

Have just signed him on my fourth season with Bochum - just changed my formation to get him in. Shall report back. Akinfeev's contract is up in January. The Russian Invasion continues.
Lovejoy Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 In addition to earlier here is my title winning squad:
Sparky Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 1st season got up through play offs with the Tunch bagging the winner in play off final , 2nd season got automatic promotion finishing 2nd behind Middlesboro and 1st season in prem im currently 6th after 5 matches . Kevin Doyle scoring for fun
lildave3 Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 In addition to earlier here is my title winning squad: Kazim!
Finnegan Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 How did you win the league with such shocking form? o.o
Lovejoy Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 How did you win the league with such shocking form? o.o A number of loan signings, plus some useful ressies. Also only conceded 32, the 4-2-3-1 worked a treat. Think I only scored 65 league goals, and I promise it was all done honestly. Anyway, you don't need players playing 8 or 9 every game to win the title. Consistency is very important. I think I only beat Liverpool out of the "big 5" (Man City included), but only Arsenal beat me. My team has no stars, but every player has a job that they do well. The main thing I've noticed about this game is that by playing the right players for your formation, the rewards can be very big. You may or not remember I said that in winning the Championship, I finished the season unbeaten in 39, yet my squad wasn't particularly good at all.
Lovejoy Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 Lewandowski had best be as good as he's bigged up to be, I've just had a £16million bid accepted by West Ham .
Finnegan Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 Lewandowski had best be as good as he's bigged up to be, I've just had a £16million bid accepted by West Ham . I paid £18m for Falcao who I consider to be noticably better than Lewandowski in terms of performance so far this season. One of the things that I love the most about Lew' is he'll come for less than 1m to a good League One side in the first season. All of you paying over the odds for him will get a good striker, he's Prem quality on my game easily (his finishing and composure are both 19 with like 17 heading, jumping, strength and off the ball on mine in the fourth season) but you won't hype him as I did as half of my joy was his sheer value for money. (42 league goals for less than a mil? yes plz.)
