lildave3 Posted 21 September 2008 Posted 21 September 2008 Damn. Although USA deserve it. Oh how they missed Tiger Woods...
davieG Posted 21 September 2008 Posted 21 September 2008 Oh well you have to let them have a win now and again otherwise they get trigger happy.
purpleronnie Posted 21 September 2008 Posted 21 September 2008 USA USA USA Europe were never really in it and always chasing. I think on home turf the US are strong but I dont think they have a chance on lynx style courses.
Fox You Forest Posted 21 September 2008 Posted 21 September 2008 They were the better team and deserved to win. Despite having the funniest and weirdest name ever Boo Weekley was cracking all the way through. Tiger who?
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 21 September 2008 Posted 21 September 2008 I hate watching something that has a glimer of hope, but that you know is never going to happen. (bit like the Stoke game last season!)
Head Honcho Posted 21 September 2008 Posted 21 September 2008 I was on the 2010 course a few weeks back and although it's a decent course I wouldn't call it world class! Hopefully they'll tailor it to suit Europe and we can win it back.
Tevez Posted 21 September 2008 Posted 21 September 2008 Europe = Shit. Poor Ryder Cup, How Montgomery never got a look in is beyond me. Harrington and Garcia and a long lasting nightmare.
The Reverend Posted 21 September 2008 Author Posted 21 September 2008 Well, my predictions were wrong. Thought we'd put up a better fight than that though. Poor. Credit to Poulter though. Massive pressure, and performed. And Rose. Bring on 2010 at Celtic Manor.
purpleronnie Posted 22 September 2008 Posted 22 September 2008 How did westwood play, I heard him moaning again at the end, jeeezzz get over it. Never fails to amaze me how english players assume its going to be just like england when they play abroad...weird. Anyway did you see the ears on westwood?, surely they're a handicap.
James. Posted 22 September 2008 Posted 22 September 2008 Thank god we don't have to listen to that horrendous US crowd for another 4 years.
purpleronnie Posted 22 September 2008 Posted 22 September 2008 Thank god we don't have to listen to that horrendous US crowd for another 4 years. Yeah god forbid they make noise and help their team. Fair play, Tally ho!
James. Posted 22 September 2008 Posted 22 September 2008 Yeah god forbid they make noise and help their team.Fair play, Tally ho! Unfortunately and unsurprisingly they have no idea where to draw the line. I wouldn't expect anything less from them though. I'm not bitter in the slightest, they had to win it at some point this century.
Uncle Albert Posted 22 September 2008 Posted 22 September 2008 Europe = Shit. Poor Ryder Cup, How Montgomery never got a look in is beyond me. Harrington and Garcia and a long lasting nightmare. Bore off. Monty is an odl fart. Fact. And he wouldnt of been able to prevent this loss, there were to many people in the Europe team that couldnt cut it and thats it. Better that they have experienced defeat now really, gives them more experience in what they can do next time round. It wasnt a poor Ryder Cup either, the standard of golf was brilliant and unfortunetly America pipped us to it. Faldo can be pleased with one of his picks but Paul Casey is a big game bottler. At least Sergio is still unbeaten in the Foursomes.
dandannieldanok Posted 22 September 2008 Posted 22 September 2008 Well played USA, deserved it, some incredible performances from the lesser-known players like Weekley and Perry. Europe performance was simply not worthy of anything better than defeat, only Poulter, Rose and McDowell can come away with their heads held high. (Especially Poulter given the grief over his selection, good pick Faldo). Europe = Shit. Poor Ryder Cup, How Montgomery never got a look in is beyond me. Harrington and Garcia and a long lasting nightmare. Montgomerie didn't get a look in because he has been crap for quite a while now.

Yeah god forbid they make noise and help their team.Fair play, Tally ho! You clearly dont know a lot about golf, you're just jumping on the US bandwagon as i believe you live there. Golfs not like football, its a gentlemans game. You just dont do what the Americans did for the most part, its an unwritten rule. Westwood's moaning was perfectly justified. The American fans are cnuts, simple as, they dont belong on a golf course, they belong at the Kentucky Derby or something, where shouting, screaming and generally acting a **** is perfectly acceptable. It's not acceptable on a golf course though. A perfect example was when Jiminez had a putt to keep the Ryder Cup going. And guess what? He had to back away from it because the stupid American idiots couldnt keep their mouths shut. A putt to KEEP THE COMPETITION ALIVE, and they still wouldnt shut it. I bet they'd of kept damn quiet if it was the other way round. Its just farcical. Perfectly summed up aswel by that twat Weekley, doing that stupid riding thing. Does he think hes on Happy Gilmore? Go and play Basketball if you want to act like that. And what about Azinger telling the US fans its ok to cheer when Europe miss a putt? Well i'm sorry, thats not acceptable. But they did it, and of course its off putting. Westwood had every right to complain about their behaviour. They're just morons. Unfortunately, humility and good grace and sportsmanship is something the Americans have never been able to understand. And they never will.

This ^ was the icing on the cake.

And of course Brits would never dream of cheering when opponents missed putts or sent shots into the water... Weekley seems to be a bit of a Gazza-type figure, except he can actually be forgiven for being a fcukwit by being quite successful in his sport. And as a captain, Azinger > Faldo. That goes a long way to explaining the outcome of the match.

Sparky Posted 22 September 2008 Posted 22 September 2008 Really enjoyed it other than the result , standard of golf was excellant . Kim and Weekley were real characters . Poulter and Rose were top drawer for europe . Bring on 2010

Unfortunately, humility and good grace and sportsmanship is something the Americans have never been able to understand. And they never will. Look I dont agree with people cheering when people are about to take their shots. But it seems just because it wasnt the same atmosphere as an english golf course then somehow thats wrong? why? It reminds me of people who go abroad and are victim of crime, they always say this would never happen in england, of course not your not in england. Why expect it to be the same? just because its different doesnt make it wrong. If the shoe was on the other foot and the europeans at home were singing and chanting and getting under the american golfers skin and it helped us to win, would you be so upset? I saw poulter win his match and loads of americans were clapping and congratulating him. Westwood just made things worse for himself by mentioning it, talk about it after sure but I just thought you get paid millions if you cant rise above some stupid remarks by the US fans and a few OTT celebrations they you need to grow a backbone.
Tilley Posted 22 September 2008 Posted 22 September 2008 USA won, shame. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Weekly.
Jack Posted 22 September 2008 Posted 22 September 2008 BOO SA BOO SA . Wankest chant of the year That sounds like summut a 6 year old would come up with
