Tilley Posted 20 September 2008 Posted 20 September 2008 Martin 5 - One great save, apart from that, awful, his kicking is bloody dreadful. Gilbert 6 - Very good going forward. Powell 6 - Still solid and keeps going, a credit to himself at his age to be so fit. Tunchev 8 - Class. Morrison 7 - Looked comfortable alongside Tunch. Gradel 5 - Final ball eludes him, was tackled very easily, Adams made a stake for first team, he needs to step his game up. Dyer 7 - Fantastic, took his goal well, always looking forward to beat his man, what a free signing. Oakley 5 - No captain, simply awful. King 6 - Thought he played well, his distribution is fantastic, took his goal very well. Very creative. Fryatt 7 - Great performance, was on his own without support for alot of the game, got on the scoresheet, again. Howard 6 - Not one of his better performances, but was unlucky and won alot of the balls in the air. Adams 6 - Looked good, far better than Gradel in the short time he was on. Hobbs 6 - Didn't have alot to do. Campbell 7 - Always chasing down loose balls, fighting for the cause, looking up, playing the pass, should have scored but played a part in both our last two goals, great play with King for the third, needs more than ten minutes.

Thracian Posted 20 September 2008 Posted 20 September 2008 I don't see too many voting Powell MoM as Matt Piper seemed to think.
Corky Posted 20 September 2008 Posted 20 September 2008 I don't see too many voting Powell MoM as Matt Piper seemed to think. He did alright, but the MoM for me was Dyer.
Wooly Posted 20 September 2008 Posted 20 September 2008 I don't see too many voting Powell MoM as Matt Piper seemed to think. He was second behind Dyer. And he's better than Mattock.

Guest Posted 20 September 2008 Posted 20 September 2008 Martin - 6 Gilbert - 5.5/6 Tunchev - 7 - No nonsense defender, does exactly what's needed Morrison - 5 - Had an argument with my mate in the pub afterwards about this but I thought he was poor today Powell - 6 Gradel - 5.5 - Certainly not one of his better performances and Adams was far better King - 6.5 - Great first half, largely indifferent second half apart from the goal Oakley - 5.5 - Disappointing Dyer - 7 Howard - 6 - Didn't look bad but not nearly as effective as he has been Fryatt - 7 - Couple of amazing pieces of individual skill, let down slightly by keeping the ball for one touch too many but good effort for the team I thought These ratings are sponsored by 6 pints of Guinness
syston_fox Posted 20 September 2008 Posted 20 September 2008 Martin- 5 - one great save but could so easily have cost us. When the striker closes him down and he tried the fancy chip over him to Gilbert? Scary! Missed a cross completely as well and one snapshot in the first half nearly made him look very foolish. Gilbert-6- Not to much luck going forward but stopped a lot of crosses coming in. Tunchev-8- Man Mountain. Gave the strikers nothing! Morrison-6 - Not one of his best games but did ok. Powell-7- Some good blocks and tried to get forward more. Gains an extra mark for his comical facial expressions when he does something wrong. Gradel-4- Didn't contribute much. Oakley-7- brilliant for the first 20 mins and faded out slightly as the game went on. King-7- Really starting to justify his starting place and good finish. Could well keep clemence out. Dyer-8- signing of the summer for me. Pacey, scores goals, and always looking to get crosses in - he's the winger that I expected Gradel to be. Howard-7 Holds play up a lot better than he ever did last season. Didnt have much luck today but contributed well Fryatt-8- THAT is why he gets in the team. Scored one, hit the crossbar twice and looking sharp. Subs: Adams-7- kept things simple and on that performance his full £275k price tag could be justified. Hobbs-n/a - didnt really do anything. Not on long enough for a rating Campbell-n/a looked lively but doesnt look like breaking his goal duck. Full of running and worked so hard for the second goal. Not on long enough for a rating
clazkel Posted 20 September 2008 Posted 20 September 2008 Martin - 6 Gilbert - 6.5 Morrison - 7 Tunchev - 7.5 Powell - 7 Gradel - 6 King - 6.5 Oakley - 6.5 Dyer - 8 (for first half performance - tore their defence apart with some great runs) Howard - 6.5 Fryatt - 7 Hobbs - 7 Adams - 7.5 (game changed when he come on as he got stuck in and tried to make things happen) DJ - 7 (as above) Pearson made the right substitutions this week. I was surprised when he took Howard off, i thought he would've took Fryatt off, but i'm glad he didn't. DJ and Fryatt up front give more options than Howard up front, more creative and both make runs.
Flynny Posted 20 September 2008 Posted 20 September 2008 Martin - 6 - Did pretty well with some nice saves but the odd "what the fook" moment lowers his score. Gilbert - 6- Out of position an odd number of times and not quite at his best. He was doing shots at Life last night so maybe he was still a bit bleary. Morrison - 6.5 - Fairly solid, our defensive problems were little to do with our defense and mostly from losing the ball in midfield. Needs to sort his temper. Tunchev - 7.5 - Won EVERYTHING in the air, literally everything. Fantastic performance. Powell - 7 - He's got some legs on him for a 38 year old, got right up to the byline in support of the attack numerous times. Gradel - 6 - Out the game, got changed, fair enough. Wingers can be like that. King - 6.5 - Frustrating, but scored. Oakley - 6.5 Energetic in fits and starts but needs to do that for the full 90 minutes and put in a real captains performance, for me. Dyer - 7 - Lovely goal, full of running, poor delivery at times. Howard - 6.5 - Did nothing wrong, linked up play well but we looked better with him off the pitch. Harsh on the bloke. Fryatt - 7 - Not his best game but not bad and gets extra for the goal. Hobbs - 6.5 - Did what he needed to well. Adams - 7.5 - Game changing, great performance. DJ - 7 - What was that dancing on the line all about? Could have cost us dearly, just shoot you arse. He's clearly got confidence problems but his part in changing the game and getting us the goal can't be overstated.
Cobbo Posted 20 September 2008 Posted 20 September 2008 The Tunch getting some wonderful ratings today, good lad.

lildave3 Posted 20 September 2008 Posted 20 September 2008 Cba to give full ratings. Tunchev motm, King better than Oakley, Howard was poor (coming from me!) and so was Gradel. Gilbert wasn't very good either.

lildave3 Posted 20 September 2008 Posted 20 September 2008 Let's not come to blows here. Goal aside Oakley put himself about far better. I've already told you TerFlynnator (one I didn't get to use today), I thought Oakley was woeful, and king was the better of the two.
Bert Posted 21 September 2008 Posted 21 September 2008 I'm a big Oakley fan. But King had a better game today. For a player of Oakley's calibre, he gave the ball away far too much today and wasn't as good in the tackle as KIIIIIIING. There were times that Oakley would do something so fantastic yet simple, but unfortunately today, the times that he sloppily gave the ball away over-ruled this.
C-man Posted 21 September 2008 Posted 21 September 2008 King was better than Oakley, I don't understand where this King-hate is coming from, I think he's started the season really well
Musty Posted 21 September 2008 Posted 21 September 2008 Watched the match with some mates who were Orient fans, so was interesting to get an away fans perspective on us (one of my mates is their tannoy announcer - who was told by Piper that its 'Kerry' Gilbert and not 'Ker-eh-a' - is this really true? Was he bombed out of Arsenal for having a girl's name??). In the bar before the game they were literally quaking when they read our teamsheet...i think we overlook the fact that many sides in this league will feel the same, can give us a psychological advantage before we even start...we have lots of players people have actually heard of! Spotted the legend that is Ray Clemence too - didn't he know his son wasn't playing?! Anyway, as has been said we weren't great, and the my O's mates were very gutted at the end but they held their hands up and admitted despite their possession they couldn't really carve out chances, and we were clinical when it mattered and clearly have the quality that makes the difference in this league...they were well impressed with Dyer and Fryatt. Martin - 6...one fabulous save from Chambers header (their best player today), one decent save at striker's feet but some really shocking, almost comical kicking...spreads uncertainty amongst the defence. Gilbert - 5 disappointing today, didn't really link up with Max, didn't really use his pace to any effect, and had some poor touches/passes. Morrison - 5 decent in the air, poor on the ground, lucky didn't have better strikers to face, silly booking Tunchev - 7 really solid and assured Powell - 6 used all his experience well and generally looked comfortable Gradel - 5 a few hit and miss crosses in the first half, didnt manage to beat his man often enough, one decent sidestep in the the second half but shot straight at the keeper when should have looked for the cross - i'm a fan but probably needs to build up some confidence by coming off the bench and causing mayhem as an impact sub. Oakley - 6 was generally tidy but overrun in midfield, we needed him to get a hold of the ball and calm us down and get a bit of possession football going...never happened. King - 6 was fairly anonymous today...needed to help Oakley retain possession better in the centre of the park, but nevertheless took his goal really well - and isn't it great to finally have a midfielder that can score! Dyer - 8 took his goal superbly, always looking for a fast break, like him a lot! Fryatt - 8 was often quite isolated up front but worked really hard, high and wide in the first half from a Gradel cross but unlucky with a great lob hitting the bar in the second, deserved his goal...showing DJ how to put the ball in the back of the net! Howard - 5 always competing for those high balls but hardly any of his headers and flicks came off, and offered little with the ball on the ground...should have come off earlier Subs: Hobbs - 6 i think he should be starting in place of Morrison Adams - 6 looked lively, ran up a blind alley sometimes but should be given a chance DJ - 7 should have come on earlier, created panic in their defence, shamed he messed up in front of goal before Fryatt scored - a goal would really have helped his confidence
Thracian Posted 21 September 2008 Posted 21 September 2008 King was better than Oakley, I don't understand where this King-hate is coming from, I think he's started the season really well King could bag a hat-trick of overhead kicks and provide the final pass for four other goals and still not get credit from some who seem to think we'd be better served with a team of diggers and combative old-timers. Their answer to the likes of Millwall is to match their aggression rather than to fast-pass em into oblivion. In an era where every committed tackle is a potential booking! How easily they forget that hardcase Danny Tiatto completed a full season at City without being on the winning side once. Great bit of flag-carrying for get-stuck-in football that was and it didn't do much to stop of sliding towards near-footballing irrelevence either. Goals and assists (principal or secondary) from Danny? Not a lot.
Tilley Posted 21 September 2008 Posted 21 September 2008 On current form, King is far better than Oakley.
Thracian Posted 21 September 2008 Posted 21 September 2008 Musty Quote: King - 6 was fairly anonymous today...needed to help Oakley retain possession better in the centre of the park, but nevertheless took his goal really well - and isn't it great to finally have a midfielder that can score! No! We desperately need a new Tiatto instead. Or even the old one back.
