However, at present the club seem to be continuing along the line that they feel we need to be told when a goal goes in, and in their view that the best way to do so is to blast out what is in my opinion the blandest, most uncreative, most generic song in the world for that sort of thing, as probably half of all English league clubs use it as 'their goal song'. Therefore, I have come up with a shortlist of alternatives to Chelsea Dagger, as although the misguided ideas of those in power will in all probability keep goal music in the stadium for the foreseeable future, it will hopefully be something a little more meaningful and individual. Feel free to add your own suggestions, as I'm guessing not many people will like my (mostly tongue in cheek) shortlist... First off, something local perhaps? Another local artist? Something a bit mosh-tastic? Something angry? Something nickname related? Something club colour related (and uber cheesy)? My personal preference (think this'd work well as a terrace chant too)? Something to gloat at the away fans with? Something offensive (actually, would probably be put to better use when the away team score)? That's all I can think of right now. Hope someone thinks up some better ones!

Without doubt, if it was taken to the club properly with enough people it would be gone, but they have a few more bogus reasons to go through yet.

Why bother going to all this trouble to change it, if you come up with something that people like as music it doesn't mean it should be played besides the continual playing of any contrived music will eventually come to be hated. You'll just reinforce their their hand.
Rocky Dennis Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 Totally agree. Chelsea Dagger is total shite, Id rather have no music at all than that. However I think this debate is largely pointless as the club obviously arent budging on this, time to accept it and move on chaps!!

I hate goal music, but sadly I'm being ground down to negotiation and compromise to to the fact that I don't want to hear Chelsea Dagger ever again. When will the club give a shit about my 'matchday experience'? Because at the moment I have it ruined every time we fcuking score!!!
lifted*fox Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 y'know what... when those penalties were going in last night, and there was no music... the sound of people CHEERING was great. and that was only the WEST stand. the whole stadium cheering without that SHIT playing over the top of it, would be great. i just can't understand what the fook it is the club don't get. stupid.

Approximately the 1st of Never unless you can get a sizeable amount (and I'm talking into the thousands, here) of like-minded folks to approach the club and ask for it to be stopped completely. A few staggered complaints here and there will not change a single thing. As I've been bluntly told. The fact is, the club see the majority of fans jumping up and down, clapping and singing along to it and I can see their point - it appears as though most of our fans LOVE it, so why change it? Personally for me it destroys the ensuing rush of happiness immediately after we score goals at home, but I will not be able to change anything any time soon without massive fortune and help. Same goes for anyone else wanting change. There's nothing like celebrating a goal away from home, though.

The worst part is when they play it after you've pulled it back to from 4-0 to 4-1 or whatever. The alternative to Chelsea Dagger is no goal music. I understand some enjoy it, but we weren't asked if we wanted it brought in so we should have the opportunity to say if we don't want it.
