Well? What we think. I think we looked a lot better with Scowcroft up front. He held the ball up better and could actually win the Ball in the air and even scored a few.

De Vries cant head, pass, hold it up, shoot

I agree with you there adam, Scowcroft worked more for the team aswell IMO

Yes but Scowcroft did not get played up front - he was always out wide where he was less effective...

he played up front most of this season before he went to Ipswich.

MDV for me. I am still confident he'll come good, or hoping and praying he will anyway. You don't become a bad player over night and he was immense at Hearts before this season. He has scored goals against quality teams like Rangers, Celtic, Braga, Basle, etc and I think he could do the business for us. What he needs is a few goals and plenty of crosses in to him so that he can get these goals and then he might be a different player.

I'm sorry but our team don't create enough chances for our strikers. Hardly ever put crosses in and when they do they are rubbish.

Having seen Scarecrow in action last night on the gogglebox, I'd have to say good riddance. However, MDV hasn't really done much either!.

De Vries for me, when he first arrived and was just coming on for Scowcroft in most games the team certainly looked more threatening with MdV in my opinion.

Scowy himself only got 2 goals in 18 (i think) starts under Levein. If de Vries gets his sharpness back then i'm sure he'll do a decent job, or at least better than Scowcroft.

De Vries has far more potential than scowcroft, if he could just learn how to pass, shoot, head the ball, control the ball, he'd be quality ;)

Along the lines of what I've been thinking.

Plus he showed he has some quality tucked away against Charlton.

And we're paying himn a lot less than Scowy.

I have not voted in this poll because from what I have seen, they are both as bad as each other.

Scowy could occasionally make a few good headers, but most of the time his heading was awful. De Vries can't head for shit but his control and touch can be great, although more often than not he ends up losing the ball or is too slow to pass it.

I'd prefer playing with neither of them.

De Vries has the potential to be a good player especially when you consider he is patently not fit. He will never be the greatest in the air but his ball control make shim an excellent target man if the service is adaquete.

I neve runderstood what Scowcroft offered any football team, his movement was poor and he was one of the slowest professional footballers I have seen. (Except Jacob Laursen who just went backwards). His heading was also vastly over rated, he didn't score that many goals and considering we spent all 90 minutes pumping the ball to him his flick on ratio was hardly spectacular.

I agree with your comments to an extent, but...

1) De Vries not being fit it quite frankly a disgraceful excuse for his performances. He was bought in January - that's 3 months ago. Yes he had an injury before he signed for us, and obviously he wasn't match fit when he joined the club. But I am no longer accepting 'lack of match fitness' as a defence to his performances recently. He is a professional footballer, it is his job, it is his livelihood. He makes a living out of running, jumping, jogging, etc - he has had 3 months of training and matches to get up to fitness - for me that is more than long enough to get fit. If he still isn't fit he shouldn't be starting every game as he has been doing recently.

2) Scowcroft was slow, but De Vries is just as slow too! God the number of times he loses a 50-50 chase with the defender is unbelievable.

Have you seen the size of him recently? He is overweight for a professional footballer. Hopefully after a good and undisrupted pre-season we will see a marked improvement in his game and maybe he may win a few more of those 50/50 chases.
