An American chef has chewed his way through a burger weighing 15lbs in a four-and-a-half hour marathon eating session.

Brad Sciullo, who works at an Italian restaurant in Pennsylvania, has become the first person to conquer the Beer Barrel Belly Bruiser.

The mammoth meal weighs 15lbs (6.8kg) and has 5.2lbs (2.3kg) of toppings.

The gastronomic adventurer completed his mission in four hours and 39 minutes.

Dennis Leigey, owner of Denny's Beer Barrel Pub, said Mr Sciullo, of Uniontown, was the first person to finish the meal.

Asked what possessed him to tackle the burger, Mr Sciullo said simply: "I wanted to see if I could."

The Beer Barrel Belly Bruiser includes a bun, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, onions, mild banana peppers and a cup each of mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard and relish.

Where's TommyG when you want to know the exact nutritional content?

If he doesn't eat for the next 7 days he'll be fine

In theory (calorie-wise). But our body needs nutrients all the time....

some of them need to be replenished daily.

Or are you suggesting he did this just before engaging in a health-boosting one-week fast? :P

To be honest, I've seen more overweight people here than i did back home.

But then again, i wasn't from the South and i lived in an active neighborhood.

Hence why i am soooo skinny :D. Must be my English blood.

I saw very few overweight people when I went to NY. Boston was like any English town, but Florida has a lot of fatties. Around the Orlando area, most of them are British.

That rings a bell.

I went to Tenerife last January. After a few days I noticed that all the "fat" (and I mean some of them were bordering in the morbidly obese) families there were British. At some point, I thought I had spotted a fat family which spoke a different language. After a while though, it became clear they were from Liverpool!

That's because us New Yawkers tend to rush around and walk a fast pace

Funny you should say that about the Orlando area. I have family around there who are from Leicester.
