swap lambert for Howard.

No thanks mate. Lambert has years on Howard and what was he thinking of with that blatant push in the first half in the box when he maybe could have used his head, controlled it better and create a chance for himself! Us gasheads still love Holloway and as much as some of you may not believe it, he is a very passionate bloke who tries to install the commitment into players that he had as a player not only for us, but all the teams he played for. Pity you got relegated and you were unfortunate to go down as Holloway, if given the chance, could have taken you places. Even in this league, he would have at least matched what Pearson has done but to me you have a very jittery chairman who wants instant success, and learn from our mistakes that doesn't work, and only now in the last few years have we started to build ourselves up again, and with our new stadium being started next year, hopefully we can compete to get out of this league like yourselves with the great fanbase we have as you witnessed today. Have a good season!

Really? Your average attendance last season was 6849.

Fair play to you guys today bringing 3000, that will only be bettered by LUFC this season.

Oh and Holloway completely lost it.

Poor average I agree, but when you visit the shithole we play in, it doesn't accomodate no more than 12,000. Look at Swansea with their new stadium, averaged only about 7-8000 at the Vetch when in our league, now in a modern stadium and promotion, bringing in 15-20,000

The fanbase we have with a good stadium like yours and a successful team would bring in the same. Time will tell. As for Holloway losing it, having to take over and be stuck with Martin Allen's shit signings followed by that clown called Megson, give me a break!

lol. Come on mate. He had 2/3 of a season if not longer in charge.

Who did he try to replace Allen's signings with? Bori, Laczko and Hayles, Howard and Oakley who were useless whilst he was in charge.

Although i wont slate Big Barry too much as he dominated you today. lol

Mandaric was vindicated

A phrase that should never be used on this forum, at least until we're back in the Premier League.

Despite the understandable euphoria induced by us snatching victory from the jaws of defeat (it's the first time since January 2006 we've come from behind to win a home game), that prospect ramans as distant as ever.

A home turnout of 16k (and many of them missed the last 10 minutes) is hardly likely to raise the roof at the Way.

2nd goal celebrations - crazy :D

Oh & whoever the **** is from the Rovers end who chucked a coin, you hit a pregnant woman in the head, t*at.

You would have thought early leavers would have learnt their lesson from Arsehole v Spurs the other night :D .

Indeed. We've shown such fighting spirit so often in recent seasons. These players never know when they are beaten and have given so many inspirational performances in recent weeks.

Hindsight is such a gift.

Dont know what radio station you were listening to pal but after hacking our defenders off which clearly changed the game, Lescott had Dyer in his pocket until he was brutally taken out and his replacement, Jacobson. We ended up fielding 4 different left backs and a right back which told in the end and Kuffour's strike was worthy of winning any game. Personally, a draw would have been a fair result, but our injuries came from poor challenges, and even though we applauded ex gashead Barry Hayles when he came on, his blatant 2 elbows should have given him a straight red card! Most of your fans would agree today that you were very fortunate to get a win from a poor performance, and only our makeshift defence enabled you the win late in the game. Football as they say has the tendency to kick you in the teeth and today was a sure testament to that! Congrats for keeping Lambert from scoring, apart from his flick on to Kuffour for that possible contender for goal of the season.

Even Radio Leicester said he'd be getting a straight red for the second elbow.

I think the melee that followed saved him and Kisnorbo was booked instead.

A draw would probably have been a fair result but don't forget the blatant penalty we were denied for the second game in a row :frusty:

Respect for referees fine, but let's see them do a half decent effort job first!

Not sure whether you're taking the piss or not

I thought their cockend of a GK was going to see red. Twat.

Although I think in the end he wound himself up so much he made mistakes which helped us win.

How do bristol rovers have a massive fan base fair enough bristol is a fairly big city but they all support bristol city lol. Yesterday they did what we usually do while leading as soon as there is 5 minutes left they sat back to try and defend their lead.Bristol rovers are shit and some of our passing yesterday was about as good as theres.

For the first time this season we more than matched a physical aspect of the visiting team, and I was delighted to see it...although Bazza's elbows could have been tucked in a bit more.

I think we were full value for the win; we outplayed you for the entire first half and the majority of the second half. Your goal may have knocked the wind out of our sails but you spent the majority of the game defending in depth and created very little in the way of shots on goal.

Hobbs' challenge was totally legal, albeit full-bloodied. It seemed that for all of the passing your players were made of fragile stuff, those who weren't seriously hurt did a good job of pretending they were...and ultimately their desire for the win simply wasn't as lusty as ours.

Rovers are a decent side, high on recent form, and your travelling support (in the main) was decent. Your measure will be how you respond to this defeat, it'd be good if you can keep your momentum going (especially when playing other sides at the top end ;) ).

Five hours on the M1 in the fooking rain and for what?

60 minutes of complete dross culminating in an excellent goal from Kuffour. Rovers came to play on the break, closed us down quickly and we hadn't a clue how to deal with it. no ideas, no energy, no cutting edge. Our only chances of scoring were 2 penalty shouts!

Our wide men did little and rarely tried to get involved, Howard had so little energy I assume he must be carrying a knock, service to Fryatt was poor and as the home team we did not do anything near enough. 1-0 down after an hour was about what we deserved.

After the goal and the subs, we were much better, at least in terms of effort and involvement, though there was still little in the way of creative play. This should have been enough, just, to earn us a point!

Picking up all 3 was daylight robbery, just think how we would feel if the situation was reversed!

Thank god for Matty!

I know we actually won, but if we continue to play this way that will become a real rarity!

Actually Bristol Rovers have just as much if not more of a catchment than City.

It's generally taken that Rovers fans are from the North and East of the city and City fans from South and West. They also draw support from a lot of the big towns in South Gloucestershire like Kingswood, Bradley Stoke and Patchway. Knowing Bristol as I do imo Rovers fans are also from the more affluent areas of the city.

A seven-match unbeaten run suggests that Bristol Rovers was no mean scalp to take. We were never allowed time and space but where we did succeed yesterday was in concentrating on trying to score right to the end.

At 1-1 it would have been so easy to breathe a sigh of relief and be satisfied with that but we didn't. We got ourselves forward again, forced a corner and made something out of nothing.

Sometimes we won't get the chance to be pretty but we did compete and anyone suggesting we didn't deserve to win is ignoring the fact that winning football is about two things in essence, scoring goals and not conceding them.

We scored twice. Both were perfectly legitimate. They scored once albeit the goal of the game. We had more chances, lbeit not many and should have had a penalty from a situation where, admittedly, we might well not have scored but that doesn't make the referee's decision correct.

Fans have complained we're sometimes outfought and that we have no answer to the spoiling tactics of opponents. But we stuck in their yesterday and I am sure that Bristol and most other clubs in Division One would love to have our points and our problems.

A Leicester equaliser seemed unlikely and their last chance appeared to have gone five minutes from the end when Alex Dyer had a sniff of goal after being put through by Micky Adams, but Steve Phillips was quickly off his line to snuff out the danger.

(Mail on Sunday OnLine)

I didn't realise that Micky Adams had left Brighton and returned to Leicester? Pearson must have signed him, as he didn't want him taking another 3 points off us, in the return fixture, later in the season!

By the way, anyone know who Alex Dyer is? Never saw his name on the team sheet. Is he Lord Dyers brother?

2 hours to get there, 3 to get back and I only live just a few miles south of Watford. Thank god I resisted the temptation to slip out after about 80 mins but we were just doing enough to keep me interested.

Thrac's extreme pragmatism in his post (above) surprises me, I know it's all about scoring goals but if we continue to play as we did yesterday then we will not score regularly enough to be promotion candidates.

Suggesting that Rovers are a decent scalp really is stretching it. They are a mid table side pure and simple and came to the Walkers intent on closing us down, playing for a point and looking to hit us on the break, which is exactly what they did. We competed reasonably well but really did not have much of a clue how to get on top of them.

As one of the perceived 'big hitters' in this division, clubs are going to play this way against us, and we have to have a game plan to deal with it. We don't!

In the end we scraped a win due to grit, determination and playing right to the end, commendable in itself, but not enough for a team looking for promotion.

tbh I think justice was done.

I have never seen a team time waste, fake injuries and try to con the ref more then Brizzle. So the football wasn't great for 70 minutes, but I got my monies worth in the last 10. They were a bunch of cheats and they got what they deserved, f all.
