dandannieldanok Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 Really glad we beat them not only for ourselves and our gain, but because of their unsportsmanlike manner about which they went about timewasting, the play-acting was pathetic.
Fox You Forest Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 Up until the players had that little melee i though it was wank, After that it came to life big time. Love you Matty! Oakley was shite, constantly giving the ball away with weak passes. So what if we didn't play well, When times are hard take what you can get.
lifted*fox Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 How did Hendo perform today? I thought he played well. Seemed to be shouting commands at his defenders nice & early. Wasn't tested much. The goal that they did score, he didn't really stand a chance against. His distribution was quick, and well placed. Easily better than Martin imo.
Daggers Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 I hate to be a killjoy... but it still seemed to take a goal against to get us going...... You're not a killjoy, you're just plain wrong. We were the best team on the park for the first half and 25 minutes of the second. We pushed and were physical - but a change of formation and players was need at half-time, I couldn't believe Gradel walked back out to start the second. I have just checked the result after being in a meeting since 2pm.Oh my good fooking god!!!!How did we pull that off!!!???? Because we played with bollocks, we didn't quit, we eventaully made the change of formation that glaringly obviously needed making and the players dug deep for the first time this season. Yea! Not read through the thread and I don't want to,a woeful display from a side that just gets worse by the match,we were very very lucky today! Absolute nonsense.
Nugent Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 I thought he played well.Seemed to be shouting commands at his defenders nice & early. Wasn't tested much. The goal that they did score, he didn't really stand a chance against. His distribution was quick, and well placed. Easily better than Martin imo. Sounds good. Cheers
Thracian Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 As Jimmy Greaves would say, "It's a funny old game". We go into suicide mode after being robbed of a penalty at Brighton but we recover from another bout of being cheated by the referee to save and win a seemingly tighter game against Bristol. The authorities, flying their respect flag, will doubtless find some way to defend today's referee but he bottled it big time and allowed a Bristol player to play his own version of basketball in the penalty area when the otherwise loose ball might well have been pounced on. There is no excusing that. Refereeing decisions shouldn't be based on what is right and wrong. He was wrong and the whole Leicester end of the ground could see it and so should he. However, City's peformance gave the lie to any idea that they've got no bottle. It was also the most dramatic three points that I can remember the crowd being responsible for. Mandaric was vindicated in asking them to raise the roof and when they broke into song after we fell behind I knew we had a chance. Pearson's changes somehow galvanised us and brought an urgency that had been missing. Yes, we were a bit fortunate, but we got into their box, we unsettled their defence and who dares wins. Matty Fryatt was a hero. Love him or hate him the bloke was there when it counted. He had two chances, one of them by no means easy, and he did what a striker is there for in putting them in the net. The rest of his game I don't give two hoots about. Fryatt, striker, a winning brace. That's all that matters and Leicester chalked up a plus that was based on character and another plus that was due to the fans fanaticism in never losing faith. I could talk about this problem and that shortcoming but I don't give a shit. Football is not always about right or wrong, brilliance or indifference. It is about who scores most. And for once it was us who played 90 minutes instead of 75 or 80. And we got our just reward beating both Bristol and a selectively-sighted referee.

davieG Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 Woefully short of any quality in any area of the pitch and were second best for big chunks of the game but we had to dig deep and show character and that we did . Bristol Rovers lost their heads after Hayles wasnt given a second yellow and we took advantage That!
JoeyB Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 From the other side of the Post TROLLS REFLECTS ON LEICESTERPosted on: Sat 01 Nov 2008 Two goals in the final three minutes gave Leicester an unlikely win against Rovers at the Walkers Stadium. Matty Fryatt struck twice after Jo Kuffour had hit a superb goal to give Paul Trollope's side the lead just after the hour mark. Reflecting on his side's defeat, Paul had this to say to bristolrovers.co.uk afterwards. "We felt we were worthy of leading the game through Jo Kuffour's fantastic strike and it seemed as though we were on course for a famous away win. "However Leicester pushed men forward and piled on the pressure come the end and although we didn't help ourselves at times, we looked pretty comfortable in our defending. "They had a lot of corners and free kicks which we seemed to be dealing with and, up until late in the game, they weren't creating anything from open play so we are very disappointed to have lost." Injuries meant that Rovers had to play four players, Aaron Lescott, Joe Jacobson, Ryan Green and Jeff Hughes at left back during the course of the game. Aaron Lescott was replaced by Joe Jacobson following a heavy challenge that left him with an injury to his side, and Jacobson didn't reappear at the start of the second half after sustaining a bruised rib, which will be x rayed next week. David Pipe was injury victim number three, suffering a hamstring strain with fifteen minutes of the game remaining. "We lost three full backs and four different players appeared at left back, which certainly didn't help, but it was a cruel way for the game to finish as the ball bobbled around in the box and could have gone anywhere but fell to Fryatt who stuck it away. "I'm still proud of the players as it was a huge effort, and a good performance, against a strong Leicester side. "We were fortunate to have two full backs on the bench, but we are disappointed to have lost two as well and we will have to assess the situation over the next week, but our defensive injury jinx seems to be continuing." "Jo's goal was a big positive. It was a great flick on from Rickie Lambert, who is very good in those positions, and Jo swivelled quickly to score with a great finish and the game plan was working, to a large extent. We knew about their threats, and there wasn't much from them in the first half. "We felt if we could produce a few more bits in and around the box after the break, we were capable of winning the game, and we produced a little bit of magic, which looked as though would be enough. "Their first goal was disappointing, as we lost the first flick on and their player got down the side of us. As for the winner it was, as I've said, a cruel way for the game to finish." As for the incidents involving Barry Hayles towards the end of the match, Paul said; "I'm not getting involved in any criticism of Barry. Our players were obviously incensed by the fact that there was a use of the arm but I from where I was stood I didn't really see it. I know Barry from our days together at Fulham and he's a winner and always wants to win, and I'm sure that's all he was trying to do." Defeat brought to an end a seven match unbeaten run. "We want to start another run now. Defeat today means that we have an even record with five wins, five draws and five defeats. We felt we were worthy of taking something from the game and probably deserved at least a point but we have to bounce back quickly for a good game at Bournemouth next week, and a great home game against S****horpe. "Whilst we are disappointed we know we have a group of players who are capable of winning games against anyone in this division so as soon as we get back to work on Monday we go again."
dandannieldanok Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 Oakley was shite, constantly giving the ball away with weak passes. Agree with that, although looking at the player ratings many will disagree. He made some atrocious short passes that would have been laughable if he was playing for any other team.
Thracian Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 From the other side of the Post That seems fair enough. I was quite impressed with Bristol's closing down and that Kuffour looked a handful.
JoeyB Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 Agree with that, although looking at the player ratings many will disagree. He made some atrocious short passes that would have been laughable if he was playing for any other team. But he got stuck in and won alot of tackles!
Thracian Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 But he got stuck in and won alot of tackles! And he didn't leave King to do all the sodding work on his own. Misplaced passes were inevitable because Bristol marked so quick and so close. Little wonder they have had such a good run. This was an excellent result for us and Oakley made a valuable contribution.
Daggers Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 I learned that Links does not have a daughter. I was shocked.

Referee was unbelievably SHITE but we still managed a win somehow, no shape, idea, but kept pushing when it mattered. Very pleased!
JakeShingler Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 Well done City good win Strange were not the ones who fcuked it up in the last 5mins
DB11 Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 Referee was unbelievably SHITE Well he wasn't really that bad
Staf Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 Well played Leicester ! Absolute screamer from then but we did awsome to get back into it and then when i thought we would settle for a draw we won ! Well played Fryatt scoring another two goals. Good to see Hendo back in goal. I think people should give Hobbs a break however he is not a right back and if Pearson does keep playing there and he plays bad he obviously will get stick. Barry and Adams changed the game well done to both of them adn Tunchev well played absolutely owned Rickie Lambert did he even have a shot? Bring on Rotherham
Unabomber Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 massive win this, goal celebrations were pure chaos and the atmosphere all around the ground seemed better.Oh and the bloke next to me left on 83 minutes! Guy near me left on 75 last week, and 65 today! Absolutely mental Well he wasn't really that bad Well he was pretty bad. 2 clear pens. and constantly blowing for pointless freekicks.
colbo68 Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 Full Time 2 - 1 Thank God for Matty Fryat!!!! [/quot guess i'm gonna be shot down in flames again for not being 'faithful' but today was fookin awful I'm over the moon about the last five minutes but genuinely left the ground thinking God knows how we won that game For me, the tactics were dire, some of the performances very poor (Gradel, Hobbs esp) and I think Pearson is a lucky man because if we would have lost this one I think the vultures would have started circling. On a very plus point, it was great to see the lads keeping going after we went one-nil down (that wouldnt have happened last season), but the win does gloss over another poor performance in my opinion. Peeps can say, who cares cos we won, but playing that poorly on other days will lead to more defeats than victories
Thracian Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 Guy near me left on 75 last week, and 65 today! Absolutely mental Well he was pretty bad. 2 clear pens. and constantly blowing for pointless freekicks. There were people around me who left at 1-0. It still amazes me considering how much drama comes at the end of football matches. What's the point in beating the traffic and missing the most important parts of the match?
Lovejoy Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 You would have thought early leavers would have learnt their lesson from Arsehole v Spurs the other night .
Unabomber Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 There were people around me who left at 1-0. It still amazes me considering how much drama comes at the end of football matches. What's the point in beating the traffic and missing the most important parts of the match? Exactly those last 5 minutes were more than worthy of the ticket prices!
