clazkel Posted 15 November 2008 Posted 15 November 2008 I have a bad feeling Pearson will start with DJ and Dickov with Fryatt on the bench, as he never seems to play Fryatt up front with anyone apart from Howard. Apart from against Bristol when Hayles come on for Howard and Fryatt and Hayles linked up well. When Pearson brings on Dickov or DJ he takes off Fryatt, or he takes off Fryatt and Howard for both of them. Fryatt needs a chance up front with someone other than Howard and S****horpe is hopefully the time

Bazaldo Posted 16 November 2008 Posted 16 November 2008 :D If Fryatt's on the bench there's a good chance Porter will be captain, Max Gradel will be centre-half and Robbie Burns will write the programme notes! Unbelievable!!! did do do dah dah got us relagated matty fryatt get his loadsa goals partnering howard or was it big waste of money d.j???? Dont get me wrong im a fryatt fan. struggling to think now???? or does dikov get a mention cause that bloke piss*s all over the rest!!! D.J Campbell, your havin a laugh!!! faith in a non starter!!! wheres my boots????
carterfox90 Posted 16 November 2008 Posted 16 November 2008 gradel at center half christ thracian dont start giving pearson ideas like that he might just do it i hope dickov will play even after what he did & said but hey he is the better out of the 2 DJ just seems to be missing something when he comes on never looks confident to me & is always offside

The bloke will be at some non descript team in 2 yrs time thats a fact. experience coupled with youth, we have it. Young lads learn off the likes of Dickov and make your own game as good as them. edworthy is one Powell another dickov another. Learn off these boys they've been there Tunchev is a cool customer and i hope to god we go up and we keep that bloke here. Cause he is punching well below the league he should be in.

Raj Posted 16 November 2008 Posted 16 November 2008 I dont need to express my views about the prementioned player who will be absent next Sat!!! <_<
Candidcamera Posted 16 November 2008 Posted 16 November 2008 I think it will be the ideal chance for Chambers to be tried with DJ and Dickov to be subs. I hope he doesn't replace like with like and Hayles. Even that would be interesting. Fryatt has been the only one (of the two) to regularly score. He would like more support perhaps Gradel or Dyer playing higher up the pitch. Where is Porter ? He could get a game too.
davieG Posted 16 November 2008 Posted 16 November 2008 I'd be tempted to a 5 man mid-field of Gradel/Adams - Oakley - King - Berner - Dyer There's enough scoring potential there with one of the middle 3 taking it in turns to get up close to Fryatt.

I agree. It's pretty much what I suggested as well. I think we should try that. There are creativity and goals from that midfield (bar Berner).
Cobbo Posted 16 November 2008 Posted 16 November 2008 I think people will see how much we need him in our team come next week. Over the week they are going to have to work on a system that has 2 small men in attack. We won't be able to mix it up as we have done. I hope it works well come Saturday but I really think Howard, albeit not in a scoring capacity, is a vital cog in our side. Gimme a forward system of: ----------Fryatt Dyer---Oakley---Gradel/Campbell ----Berner----King Really free up the quick wide men and Oakley (with Berner and King sitting) - get in behind.

I'm all over this plan like a rash. I'm convinced that this would tear them to pieces next weekend, as sure as I am that we'll not see anything like it.

Me too. It's an approach that's been touched on before and seems eminently suited to our players. Cobbo's learned the game quicker than I thought!

But he's exactly the sort of player we need on the bench as an attacking midfield replacement were he fit. But he seems to have gone the same strange way as Hammond (ankle). Leicester City can be like the Bermuda Triangle for footballers who disappear off the radar.
Ultra Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 Howard for england!!! Except he's a Scotland B international. I'm sure half of England went into mourning when they realised a Howard-Owen partnership could never happen..

Or even play Dickov on the right of midfield. It seemed to work fairly well earlier in the season.
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 Made My Day!!!! just safe in the fact that he wont be playin and that we will have to give someone else a try BONUS
Bazaldo Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 Except he's a Scotland B international.I'm sure half of England went into mourning when they realised a Howard-Owen partnership could never happen.. Gutted, to be honest wasn't sure who what or where he'd played for. Afraid i wasn't that interested. Good old Howard
Ric Flair Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 It might not be as bad as we think. Dickov nor DJ were going to get much playing time unless either Fryatt or Howard became unavailable to play. So here is their chance. Dickov is the sort of player who relishes a point to prove, DJ on the other hand always seems to fail when you hope the opportunity presented to him will have him fired up. But, hopefully that will change and if he starts, he can get a goal or two as it will be interesting to see what happens if he starts finding the form he had at Brentford and Birmingham. We need a squad of players not just a team, so it's time for these boys to get a chance and to take it. Dickov to start please, with DJ coming on with 30 mins to go.
davieG Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 Or even play Dickov on the right of midfield. It seemed to work fairly well earlier in the season. Err no thanks his contribution from that position was negligible and our results were in spite of him not because of him. Besides neither him or DJ are fit for 90 mins and are likely to bring on a recurrence of their injuries if the start, leave them on the bench and bring one or both of them on after 60/70 mins if necessary
Munzie Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 What concerns me the most, about this change in line-up and/or tactics, is that Pearson has had it forced upon him. He's shown very little tactical changes to date, preferring to stick to 'old faithful' 4-4-2, with just about the sames faces week in week out (barring the odd injury). As we know, this was sussed by other teams a while back. During our time in the cup matches, he's been overly cautious in changing his chosen eleven, and even in matches that we've been looking comfortable for the win, we've seen very little evidence of our fringe players getting much more than a few minutes playing time. He appears to be adopting a reactionary style of management to the team (unless he has little faith in our reserve squad). Adjusting the team only when an injury or suspension gets in the way is high risk in my opinion. How do we know that the incoming player will have the desired effect without any proper match time under their belt? Reading through the posts, we are all guessing on who will replace Howard. Normally, as more comments are posted, a common name will crop up. This time DJ, Dickov and Hayles are all in the frame. Injuries aside, none of them have had any real time out on the pitch given the lack of changes Pearson makes. No doubt this very same debate is rumbling through Pearson's mind. I feel that had he employed some sort of rotation system early on, the decision would have been easier.
Tilley Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 If Campbell gets anything less than 10 minutes, I will be very very pissed off.
Nod.E Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 I think it will be a bad thing. He's not the best player going, but how many goals this season has he had a part in? - important goals. Just off the top of the head, the Yoevil goal. Like it or not, we need him.
