The Deacon Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 I agree but suspect Howard will be back as available.
Legend_in_blue Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 The team will remain the same - apart from one change. Howard in for DJ. We might not want it to happen some of us, but it will. Barring any injuries in the meantime of course.
Unabomber Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 I would just keep it the same as against Scunny
Thracian Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 The team will remain the same - apart from one change. Howard in for DJ. We might not want it to happen some of us, but it will. Barring any injuries in the meantime of course. I agree. Part of me thinks DJ would be better off on the bench following his first gruelling 90 minutes after coming back from a long spell out. But I'd also like to see him given another start to give him a proper chance to gel with the team and to get his run-timing back. With Edworthy taking a knock and Gilbert still not fit I hate to think of our choices might be at right back unless he goes for one of the youngsters, either Luke O'Neill or Lee Cox, which I cannot imagine will be the case at all. I'll have no complaints if he goes with an unchanged side but really don't buy this "don't change a winning team" theory. take it to the nth degree and you'll have five or six perfectly good suad members never getting a game and then becoming so short of match fitness they're a liability. We've already gone down that route on occasions in the past. It did us no good and there's no need. The squad we have today is not 11 guys and a few makeweights. It is 16/17 decent players and a wise manager will involve them all and I don't mean with tiny two minute cameos at the end of games.
Corky Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 I agree. Part of me thinks DJ would be better off on the bench following his first gruelling 90 minutes after coming back from a long spell out. And, for all his offsides, he worked his bollcks off for the team.

smokey Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 Howard will be back in side, Pearson loves him! That will be the only change i think with DJ making the bench! Anyone know where Dickov?
RowlattsFox Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 I don't think Pearson has changed a winning side so far this season, unless he had to. So I expect Howard to be on the bench, where was Dickov on Saturday anyway? Not seen it mentioned anywhere. Edworthy took a knock so Gilbert may come back in.
Bryn Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 Crewe really are dire at the moment. No easy games in this league but if there ever was a game we should be looking to score a hatful in it's this one.
Fatbloke Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 No way under the sun I would leave Campbell in the side, he did`nt even give Pearson a choice to make, Howard must return, DJ was totally unefective apart from giving linesmen repetetive stress arm injuries, as for right back, Gilbert is fit for selection.

Do you really think Howard should return, i agree Dj was off side far too much but the ball was played forward quicker, more movement up front and as a whole we looked more of a threat. When Howard plays we look static and predictable at times and seem to run out of ideas.
Fatbloke Posted 24 November 2008 Posted 24 November 2008 your right, there was more pace and movement but DJ is not a clever player at all and he drove me mad with his lack of vision, maybe Dickov would be the answer, he too is a 100% tryer and is quick and mobile, Howard alway`s puts his body on the line for us though and has been both unlucky, ie 6 perfectly legal goals chalked off, and, harshly treated by referee`s, he gets fouled an awful lot, I think things will turn round for him and he`ll bag a few goals.

Pearson must feel like a lottery winner having choices like that in Division One.
wirralsimon Posted 24 November 2008 Posted 24 November 2008 Pearson must feel like a lottery winner having choices like that in Division One. I agree. I watch Tranmere regularly as my son is a supporter and we live by the ground and to be honest they can only dream of having the options we've got. Simon
shen Posted 24 November 2008 Posted 24 November 2008 Playing a bottom team at home, I'd expect us to start with Howard. They're going to be very tight, so getting in behind them probably won't happen too often. Hence I think NP will go for Howard to lead the line and enable us to get a territorial advantage.
Ric Flair Posted 24 November 2008 Posted 24 November 2008 It's high time we scored more than 2 goals in a league game. Crewe are rough as arseholes right now and need pulverising. carterfox90 Posted 24 November 2008 Posted 24 November 2008 it will be the same team apart from DJ out howard in
Munzie Posted 24 November 2008 Posted 24 November 2008 This is a great oppertunity to experiment further. Top versus bottom. Let's see DJ, Dickov & co get some much needed match practice. Keep options on the bench just in case but change it around to include other squad players. A great oppertunity to work on plan 'B' against a side that we should comfortably control.
