Fryatt tight-lipped on new deal - rejects 2nd offer

He will sign eventually - We've been saying that all along.

Him and his agent just wanted to milk every penny out of Leicester and get the best deal possible. Fair play to them I'd say.

I want to know how long the extention would be for, 5 years would be pushing it, however didn't Messi get something like a 12 year contract at Barca a few years ago.

he made the mistake of signing for a championship club (lcfc) when he was

doing well at walsall

and he ended up clinging to the bench for 2 years

he won't make the same mistake twice... and why would he want to leave when he's pissing goals

With Messi it's different as Barca are one of the best teams in the world.

I really doubt Fryatt would commit himself to Leicester for that long.

I'd be very happy with anything in the region of 2 years+, and I'm guessing it'll be three.

Fryatt could sign

Exclusive by Bill Anderson

Leicester City could seal Matty Fryatt on a new contract "in the next few days" according to Milan Mandaric.

The City chairman is as eager as the fans to see the matter settled and keep the on-form striker at the Walkers Stadium.

Mandaric, below, said: "We are doing everything we can to sign him.

"We certainly don't want to lose him and in the next few days we will try to give it a go at reaching agreement."

Fryatt has been in sensational form this season, reaching 22 goals well before the halfway point of the season.

But that, and his back-to-back hat-tricks, have only highlighted his status as being in the last year of his contract with City.

That puts the club at risk of losing him either when the transfer window opens in January or in the summer.

The player and manager Nigel Pearson will not be drawn too much on the matter.

But Mandaric suggested a positive outcome might not be too far away.

He said: "Matty has never suggested he wants to leave, and he has been very positive, very bright.

"I would be very disappointed if we were not able to re-sign him and it should be a matter of a short time now.

"We are very serious and anxious to sign Matty because he has done very well for us.

"He got himself into very good shape thanks to the managerial ability of Nigel Pearson and the work of the fitness staff, and he is responding.

"I think he likes the club and respects the manager - and rightly so.

"As he is a bright guy, I am sure he will take all that into consideration and look at the situation."

Mandaric is fully aware of the importance of Fryatt to City's promotion bid.

Although it appears every Fryatt goal sends his cash value up a notch, the chairman seems confident that fears of the player's departure will prove unfounded.

Nothing will be settled until Fryatt puts pen to paper, of course.

But Mandaric's optimism comes from inside the negotiations and, therefore, should be encouraging to the Blue Army who feel Fryatt is the main building block in the bid for promotion.

He certainly is at the moment and City and Mandaric want it to stay that way.

City's re-arranged trip to Hartlepool United, originally scheduled for January 3, which is when City entertain Crystal Palace in the FA Cup third round, will now be played on Tuesday, January 6, with a 7.45 kick-off. (now 17thFeb)

That just sounds like some stockmarket tipster.

You know, the sort that says such and such a share could go up or could buck the trend.

The word "could" is like water with whisky. It dilutes everything and by an infinite degree.

I'd assure nothing from that. When the words used are "will" or "has" then I might take notice.
