Babylon Posted 9 December 2008 Posted 9 December 2008 Exclusive by Bill Anderson Leicester City could seal Matty Fryatt on a new contract "in the next few days" according to Milan Mandaric. The City chairman is as eager as the fans to see the matter settled and keep the on-form striker at the Walkers Stadium. Mandaric, below, said: "We are doing everything we can to sign him. "We certainly don't want to lose him and in the next few days we will try to give it a go at reaching agreement." Fryatt has been in sensational form this season, reaching 22 goals well before the halfway point of the season. But that, and his back-to-back hat-tricks, have only highlighted his status as being in the last year of his contract with City. That puts the club at risk of losing him either when the transfer window opens in January or in the summer. The player and manager Nigel Pearson will not be drawn too much on the matter. But Mandaric suggested a positive outcome might not be too far away. He said: "Matty has never suggested he wants to leave, and he has been very positive, very bright. "I would be very disappointed if we were not able to re-sign him and it should be a matter of a short time now. "We are very serious and anxious to sign Matty because he has done very well for us. "He got himself into very good shape thanks to the managerial ability of Nigel Pearson and the work of the fitness staff, and he is responding. "I think he likes the club and respects the manager - and rightly so. "As he is a bright guy, I am sure he will take all that into consideration and look at the situation." Mandaric is fully aware of the importance of Fryatt to City's promotion bid. Although it appears every Fryatt goal sends his cash value up a notch, the chairman seems confident that fears of the player's departure will prove unfounded. Nothing will be settled until Fryatt puts pen to paper, of course. But Mandaric's optimism comes from inside the negotiations and, therefore, should be encouraging to the Blue Army who feel Fryatt is the main building block in the bid for promotion. He certainly is at the moment and City and Mandaric want it to stay that way. City's re-arranged trip to Hartlepool United, originally scheduled for January 3, which is when City entertain Crystal Palace in the FA Cup third round, will now be played on Tuesday, January 6, with a 7.45 kick-off.

Well if Mandaric's spoken it must be true but will we now lose the next game?
Corky Posted 9 December 2008 Posted 9 December 2008 Well if Mandaric's spoken it must be true but will we now lose the next game? No, we only lose/struggle if Kisnorbo plays
potter3 Posted 9 December 2008 Posted 9 December 2008 He can't talk to English clubs until a month before his contract expires as far as I know. Football manager players should know this. I thought it was 6 weeks?
JoeyB Posted 9 December 2008 Posted 9 December 2008 If Fryatt signs a new deal could it be a bad thing? because if you look at Last season McAuley was solid all season and then looked like he was sitting back after he signed his new deal. i don't think he looked like half the player he did before he signed the deal. I hope if Fryatt signs a new deal he don't turn out like that

However, Fryatt's form might have had sod all to do with his contract and much more to do with significant injury problems and the glaring lack of chance creators in the teams of successive City managers.

CosbehFox Posted 9 December 2008 Posted 9 December 2008 http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-s...97319-22435977/i knew they had a sell on clause for him! A profit clause. Any profit we make on him will be subject to a percentage going to Walsall.
Edmund Posted 9 December 2008 Posted 9 December 2008 A profit clause. Any profit we make on him will be subject to a percentage going to Walsall. Pretty sure its a sell on clause, similar to humes deal with tranmere. Never heard of a profit clause before but sounds like a no brainer for the buying club. I doubt Walsall would take a bigger risk as if we made no profit they wouldn't get a penny.

Either your reading to much into the article or ive been playing to much footy manager.
Carlos9 Posted 9 December 2008 Posted 9 December 2008 I say.. If he wants 2 go let him!! We've had him a while now and he has only just started scoreing consistantly..I reckon any decent striker can score goals in this leauge. 'When' we go up, Yes When Not If!! .. He will play afew games and i bet he dont really score.. he cant handle championship defences.. I say... get money whilste we can!!
Daggers Posted 9 December 2008 Posted 9 December 2008 His first (and if needed second) touch have developed to a wonderful level now. His ability to control the ball and shoot has taken on a whole new level to anything we've seen from him before - to the extent that comments referring to his performances in the Championship or League 1 defences simply aren't relevant. Some of the goals he is currently scoring are nothing short of gorgeous. If you can't love this then I pity you - If you don't value this then you simply don't appreciate the game.
Koke Posted 9 December 2008 Posted 9 December 2008 He's having the time of his life. He can't stop scoring, even if he tried to. Everything he touches turns into gold. We need to retain the bloke till the summer at least - If he refuses to sign, let his contract run out and we'll deal with it in the summer. I genuinely believe he'll sign though.

I agree with you, i've just been watching the extended highlights of the Southend game and he looks a class above the other players on the pitch, his touch is great and surely he will make it in the championship and i think the premier with a touch like that (not that that matters as we are where we are). It's been a while since we had a striker playing for us with such a touch and creativity, i hope Fryatt stays
Zingari Posted 10 December 2008 Posted 10 December 2008 He'll sign.No fear. that's a definite , but who for ?
lcfcwaindie Posted 10 December 2008 Posted 10 December 2008 He has got to sign hes perfect for this league and we can try him in the champ.
morris1234 Posted 10 December 2008 Posted 10 December 2008 BOLLOX! i doubt palace could afford him anyway but beattie has been recalled, from palace, by west brom due to ishmael millers injury, so palace are a striker short! so no guesses where they will be looking next! hurry up matty and sign!
