potter3 Posted 7 December 2008 Posted 7 December 2008 Fryatt Talks Hit Stalemate..."Contract Rebel" They blatantly take their lines from Football Manager
eye666 Posted 7 December 2008 Posted 7 December 2008 ****er better sign a new deal. Might be the booze talking but the more I think about it, the more I jizm myself about the thought of Fryatt-Lambert up top. (I am a Howard fan however and the three of them would be a sexual strike-force - flog Campbell and sign Lambert,) Make it happen Pearson.
Lillehamring Posted 7 December 2008 Posted 7 December 2008 i don't think that the stalled decision has anything to do with whether fryatt wants to go, by all accounts he is happy here, why move to a new team and have to reestablish himself when he is the first name on the team sheet here, and a good chance to go up next year. i would put money on the likelihood that fryatt has agreed an amount and the delay is to sort out the clauses - he will want to be allowed to talk to other clubs if we don't go up, and MM will not want to give him a payrise if we are stuck in L1 next season.

Daggers Posted 7 December 2008 Posted 7 December 2008 Fryatt Talks Hit Stalemate..."Contract Rebel" NOTW innit
Chairman of the Bored Posted 7 December 2008 Posted 7 December 2008 Nice tactic by Pearson yesterday to bring him of with a few minutes to go. Mandy must have felt the love. Cheque book time methinks. This week could be crucial.
maddog Posted 7 December 2008 Posted 7 December 2008 So true.MADdog living up to his name. Wow hes scored 1 more goal in the championship. Big difference. If any1 elses sig was 1 goal wrong it wouldn't be pointed out. Changed it now so dont bother saying ha ha ha you still haven't realised whats wrong.
Lillehamring Posted 7 December 2008 Posted 7 December 2008 Sounds reasonable & sensible! i have my moments. i think we have been so used to seeing key players go, that it is easy to panic here, thise sort of situation happens all the time. i'm sure both parties are after the same result.
JoeyB Posted 7 December 2008 Posted 7 December 2008 I'd much rather keep Fryatt than Lambert. Whilst Lambert has been more consistent over the last few seasons, I'm not that convinced he could make the step up. Whilst Matty hardly set the Championship alight last year, if he was to continue in this vein of form and sign a new contract with us, I have every confidence that he could make the grade in the Championship next time round, should we be promoted this year. I appreciate that he no doubt wants to play at a higher level again and could well be assured of that, plus better wages, at another club. I just hope that he won't jump ship like some players do in these situations. However if he does, maybe Jamie Ward at Chesterfield would be one worth a punt. Contract up at end of season, hes rejected their contract offer, then would cost only a fee decided by tribunal. Some Championship teams are sniffing around, but I wouldn't say hes out of our reach. Don't know if anyone has any opinions on him? So a league one forward won't make the jump but a league 2 forward will............
loverofinsanefox Posted 7 December 2008 Posted 7 December 2008 So a league one forward won't make the jump but a league 2 forward will............ I was giving my own personal opinion on Lamberts abilities. I only suggested Ward might be worth a punt due to his contractual situation and the fact the fees decided by tribunals are usually very affordable, plus I've heard some decent things. I'm always keen on players from lower leagues who have been released as trainees/sold at a young age by bigger teams, as they generally have a point to prove once they are playing at a smaller club, plus have benefitted from better coaching in the past. Simon Cox was sold by Reading, Joe Garner by Blackburn etc. These players either have moved up the leagues (Garner, Carlisle-Forest) or in the case of Cox, may be moving in January. If you are suggesting Lambert could be picked up for a cheap fee also, despite his recent goalscoring exploits, then so be it. Just not my number one choice.

Although I replied to LD3's comment, your opinions in this thread have been living up to your username ...MAD. Fryatt 25k a week .

skinnydipper Posted 8 December 2008 Posted 8 December 2008 There's no doubt he's cutting the mustard at the moment albeit in a lower league. To my mind a big factor is that he looks considerably fitter and leaner than he has done for a long time. Call me a cynic but is it mere coincidence that players often get in the best shape and play their best football in the year that their contract expires? For now , well done Matty but where've you been the last couple of years ?
Ric Flair Posted 8 December 2008 Posted 8 December 2008 Some of his finishing in recent weeks has been first class, even against a better calibre of defenders and goalie's they'd still have found a way in. I've never seen a Leicester striker in this sort of form before irrespective of the level. It would be a brave and probably moronic person to still not think Fryatt might be able to cut it at a higher level. Players improve, it is possible.

I just hope he signs a bumper deal before Jan...surely if we offload some of the shite we can afford to.
Tilley Posted 8 December 2008 Posted 8 December 2008 If it really is true that he has turned down two offers, then the next offer is surely make or break.
Babylon Posted 8 December 2008 Posted 8 December 2008 If it really is true that he has turned down two offers, then the next offer is surely make or break. Is it illegal to offer more than 3 contracts then? Putting myself in his situation there is no way I'd sign a contract if in 3 weeks I can negotiate with anyone I wish to. Anyone in their right mind would wait and see what's out there. I'm afraid this one is going to run and run I think.... UNLESS they can sort out some funky clauses in the contract. Him signing anything is going to reduce his earning potential elsewhere as the buying club would have to pay a fee, so that's highly unlikely.
breadandcheese Posted 8 December 2008 Posted 8 December 2008 Quite frankly, he'll no doubt be being advised by his agent to bide his time until January, when he can then speak to other clubs. There is very little we can do about it, and in all honesty, I imagine he'll end up moving to a club in and around the play-offs of the championship. I disagree with all those who say this is his level and he can't play in the championship. The fact is Fryatt was overweight last season and didn't look in the right frame of mood (which is as much his fault as the previous management). Even more importantly, we were creating very few chances last season as we had a very poor and unbalanced midfield. As Wenger said last week when talking about Nicolas Anelka, a striker will score more goals playing at a better team that creates chances. Anelka at Bolton was a good player. Anelka at Chelsea is a goal machine. Hardly rocket science but often forgotten.

If I was Fryatt I would see what the interest was and compare offers before jumping at the first offer on the table. He is not a LCFC fan, even if he was loyalty is rare in football. If you are expecting Matteh to stay you may be deluding yourselves, Fryatt will do the best thing for his bank account and possibly his career, so there may be a chance if Milan wants to keep him, otherwise he will be gone to the highest offer.
Ric Flair Posted 8 December 2008 Posted 8 December 2008 This 'siness about him being able to talk to other clubs in January, is that just teams from outside of England or domestic teams as well? I don't recall too many home based players signing pre-contract agreements with clubs in the same country. I might be mistaken though.
Flynny Posted 8 December 2008 Posted 8 December 2008 He can't talk to English clubs until a month before his contract expires as far as I know. Football manager players should know this. If he waits 5 months and his next 5 months aren't as good and we go up, he could well end up sticking with us for less than he'll get if he signs now in the middle of a hot streak.

I would imagine his agent has put the "feelers" out to find out who is interested and at what sort of wage level.
Flynny Posted 8 December 2008 Posted 8 December 2008 I would imagine his agent has put the "feelers" out to find out who is interested and at what sort of wage level. True, but since nothing official can happen for a while, if his form dips those offers are nothing but mirages. For now, only we can offer him anything, and now's when his wage potential is at its highest. I think he'll take the deal and then only score another 10 goals for the season, personally, but that's just me bracing myself for disappointment with cynicism. Personally I reckon we should offer him 4k+ 100 times the number of goals he scores this season. It must be do-able somehow.

We'll get Craig Adams to put him on eBay then.
