Simi Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 Fryatt owes a lot to this club, he was given a second chance this season after an embarrasingly poor past season. We could have easily let him rot around on our bench, but the management showed faith in him and it's paid off.

Lillehamring Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 any championship manager (certainly of a half decent side) who would buy fryatt on the strength of this season, would be very niave - his track record at that level would not justify a big salary, so i don't think our competition is that strong. i imagine the offers would be from some championship side that are having striker trouble, and need to take a risk. and would fryatt want that kinda move when he's finally starting to feel comfortable again.

All the support he gets from the fryatt brigade, imagine what he would be doing to them. It would be like Take-That splitting up all over again

davieG Posted 3 December 2008 Author Posted 3 December 2008 From the Mirror: Matty Fryatt yet to agree new Leicester deal as Championship clubs circle Leicester's Matty Fryatt has rejected a second contract offer. Wolves, Preston and Sheffield United could make bids.
sdb Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 keep him til the end of the season. if we go back up he'll be vital and there's still question marks over him in the championship anyway
ronnup Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 keep him til the end of the season. if we go back up he'll be vital and there's still question marks over him in the championship anyway baffles me why people still keep saying this. He can't cut it in the Championship. Fitter, stronger and more organised defenses. As long as he's banging goals in this season I don't care where he is next season. Can't blame him for wanting to look around as i doubt Nige would stick with him next season.

Darkzzz_ Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 He will stay. I have always doubted his goal scoring at Championship level but personally his awareness and reading of the game is very good. A useful player in the championship but by no means the best.
Ric Flair Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 I personally think he'll leave, it's a shame, but I can see us selling in January. God know's who we'll replace him with because DJ is dog shit and Dickov has absolutely no match fitness. Without Fryatt, our promotion hopes will be severely tested.

I can't imagine us managing to replace him with someone as 'good' (sorry should I say with the ability to score a good amount of goals in league 1?) while we're still in this division thats for sure. I'm a little bit disappointed with his attitude to be honest. The club has stuck by him through some absolutely dreadful form and this is the thanks we get when he finally turns the corner... It was easy for him to declare his loyalty when nobody else would touch him What is wrong with footballers?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 If Fryatt goes he'll be severely letting down his legions of supporters that have defended him throughout a couple of awful seasons. He's remained a fan's favourite whilst being unbelievably shit, or, as some fans like to call it, "injured". I doubt other team's fans would be so understanding if he moved, and couldn't hit the preverbial "barn door" there.
maddog Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 68 appearences including subs in all comps last 2 seasons. 5 goals, i think im not 100% sure though. Hes shit in the championship and quality in league 1 like Billy Sharpe. Im sure theres plenty other league1 top goalscorers who have moved to the championship and been cak too. Hes now acting like an arrogant cocky ****, we played him through season after season of shit without him scoring, he finally starts scoring and now wont sign a new deal. Typical money grabbing willy puller like most footballers.
step Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 Why would Milan let him go? Does MM need the money? Does MM not want promotion? Does MM need a goal scorer? Is MM going to rock the boat? Fryatt will stay untill the end of the season, He cant score in championship so we will need a better forward, So who cares id he stays or goes.

Asha Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 All of you saying 'he won't cut it in the championship'... If we do get promoted and he stays, he'll be a year older than last time, more experienced, with a good season behind him and he'll hopefully have better service than the garbage we had last year. I'd definately want to give him another go in the championship. Don't completely write the lad off already.

Having got into shape, having bagged a tonne of goals already this season, having become uber-confident, you're saying he'd have developed? I refuse to believe it. He'll still be woeful in the Championship.
Edmund Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 I can't see why people are saying he doesn't owe us anything.... Are you blind???? If we didn't stick by him he wouldn't be in the position he is in. Yes he got a lot of stick but who didn't last season? There was a good reason for the abuse; they were playing shite, thats football move on..... I agree that someone should always try and better themselves but is moving to a championship club in January the right move?? Come on were approaching the half way mark of the season with another half still to play. I think it would be a bit premature if he left now as he needs to keep his feet on the ground and play a whole season. If it means moving to the premiership with wolves in the summer then you can't blame the lad as the premiership is where everyone wants to be and as a fan you could grudgingly accept that, but if he was to move to a championship club who we would potentially be playing next season if he was to stay and carry on his good form to get promoted then I think thats a bit of a kick in the teeth for leicester fans. He was part of the ship that sank and needs to help resurrect it.

Having got into shape, having bagged a tonne of goals already this season, having become uber-confident, you're saying he'd have developed?I refuse to believe it. He'll still be woeful in the Championship. At least have some hope. Why be pessimistic? You're just making assumptions based on past seasons. Anythings possible if you have enough belief. I cant believe people are even saying this shite after what the season he is having for us. Live for the moment, lets keep on giving the lad are support and bloody well hope he keeps up the form and stays with us and we enter the championship with a striker who is full of confidence. yes it wont be easy but anythings possible.
James. Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 F**king hell how does anyone know how he will play in the Championship? Basing an opinion on last season is stupid. Really, really stupid. I'm not saying he'll tear the league apart but at least give him a chance. People bang on about Fryatt-lovers and how he's a favoured player. Well, he's scored a shitload of goals and set up a shitload of goals this season. As far as I can see the Fryatt-haters are a much worse problem than those that appreciate what he's done for us and recognise last season is a poor benchmark to judge what he can do for us in the Championship.
Tilley Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 He will not be going to Wolves. Like a club on their way up to the Premiership are going to sign Matty Fraytt! Keep him, if he goes, striker wise, we are ****ed.

Did you not detect any of the sarcasm? Christ's sake, I gave a list of the reasons why he might be better equipped for a crack at the Championship, then make a jokish comment about how some people still think he will not cut it. All of a sudden I'm pessimistic. Please read my original post again and I think you'll find that you've misunderstood it.
CosbehFox Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 He will not be going to Wolves. :laugh:Like a club on their way up to the Premiership are going to sign Matty Fraytt! Use your noodle for a minute, for a promotion hunting side, too many strikers is never a problem. What they would pay for him in January would be a drop in the ocean from the money they'd get in promotion. Then bloody get rid the season after. McCarthy clearly rates him. The last time I remember him in a team with confidence at Championship level, he looked the part.
