davieG Posted 26 November 2008 Posted 26 November 2008 From BBC Fryatt has scored 16 goals this season Leicester City striker Matty Fryatt has refused to comment on whether he will sign a new deal with the club. Foxes fans fear the 22-year-old, whose contract expires in the summer, will be snapped up by another club in January. Fryatt told BBC Radio Leicester: "It's nice to be thought of and contract talks are ongoing, so we'll have to wait and see - that's all I can say. "I'm happy at the club. We're top of the league and I'm scoring goals, so why wouldn't I be?" Manager Nigel Pearson added: "He's enjoying himself here and it's important that at some stage we get the contract tied up." Fryatt, who moved to the Walkers Stadium from Walsall in 2006, has scored 16 goals so far this season.
GLC Posted 26 November 2008 Posted 26 November 2008 he better sign eles in going round his house with a salami!
Benjani Posted 26 November 2008 Posted 26 November 2008 Would be interesting to see if ever Fryatt misses a game, what a Howard - DJ partnership would be like. Fryatt feeds off Howard so I bet DJ would get more chances.
Alexikokopops Posted 26 November 2008 Posted 26 November 2008 he better sign eles in going round his house with a salami! Bloody hell, usually we have to wait for Tabou for the gay innuendo to come flooding out.
Zingari Posted 26 November 2008 Posted 26 November 2008 hope i'm wrong, but it does not look very encouraging to me
Brother Reynard Posted 26 November 2008 Posted 26 November 2008 Regarding the recent speculation linking Fryatt to the sheep, just heard on radio that Paul Jewell is looking bring in some loanees before the deadline...would Matty be tempted? Would he get a game with the amount of forwards they already have? Despite a few detractors, I hope he stays and signs a new deal on his current form - might miss a few chances per game but played 21 so far this season, which is a far better return than his last two seasons. Of course, if he does go to the Rams, I'll have no truck with the man and his kith and kin

If last season was anything to go by, then it would be garbage. Although, Fryatt was equally as bad as anything last season and he's straightened himself out. DJ, though looks like he's always going to fail at leicester. Just one of those things I suppose.

There is absolutely nothing to gain from loaning him anywhere so it will not happen!!
Bert Posted 26 November 2008 Posted 26 November 2008 I can see why he isn't saying anything like "I will sign" because if he doesn't, then it's another broken promise from a player.
Nationwider Posted 26 November 2008 Posted 26 November 2008 hope i'm wrong, but it does not look very encouraging to me Someone currently in the CCC will make him a better offer, I'd imagine. I'd say the odds are currently 60/40 against him being here for 2009/2010.

Almost exactly my thoughts, if Fryatt decides not to sign a new contract Milan has 2 choices, we can continue to play him until the end of the season and then wave goodbye (hopefully with promotion achieved) or take a small fee for letting him go in January, it would seem stupid to take the money if there are no better options available to take his place.
NewquayFox Posted 26 November 2008 Posted 26 November 2008 I once knew a girl that was tight lipped....... OOOps sorry wrong forum. ;0/

Hopefully we'll be promoted by the time his contract is up so we'll be a CCC team who can offer him as much as other clubs at that level can. He's under 24 so we are likely to recover most of what we paid for him anyway. So no point getting rid of him before the summer, unless someone offers us silly money.

Ric Flair Posted 26 November 2008 Posted 26 November 2008 Fook him off. Yes please, I love League One so much i'd like to stay here.

Yeah but was Campbell ever successful at Birmingham? These stats suggest he wasn't. 24 starts. 26 sub appearences. 50 games in total. 12 goals At Leicester. 22 starts. 20 sub appearences. 42 games in total. 5 goals. Not really a lot of difference tbh. In fact he is only 7 goals away from his next 8 games as having the same record at Brum. 1.6 Million rising to 2.1 million. Ridiculous.
Darkzzz_ Posted 26 November 2008 Posted 26 November 2008 I think he will sign. We need to get it sorted out, I would hate to see him scoring goals for Derby.

I didn't ever say he was successful. I was just trying to be rational when I said that if his form last season is anything to go by when he played for us and paired with Howard, which was atrocious, then he'll be just as bad this season if Fryatt got injured and he played with Steve. Then I said, but Fryatt has sorted himself out this season, so it's not an impossibility. I don't really rate the lad though, the price we paid for him was criminal.
Matt Posted 26 November 2008 Posted 26 November 2008 Thank-god, A player who refuses to comment about confirming or denying about contracts or staying at the club or not, Simple - It's nice to be talking of an offered contract and people wanting me to stay, but I cannot confirm if I will be here or not. How hard is that to say?! Many players, Not just at Leicester City FC, but footballers in general really do struggle with that though. If Fryatt goes i'll be disappointed but atleast I can have no bitter feelings by bringing up quotes from him saying "I'll be signing a new contract"/"I'll be here next season"/"I'll be pushing on for promotion back to the Championship".
Daggers Posted 26 November 2008 Posted 26 November 2008 He'll be holding out until we offer him one of them lovely rolling contracts.
Koke Posted 26 November 2008 Posted 26 November 2008 He's just checking out his options, which is fair enough I suppose. I'd rather keep him till the summer and he goes for free, rather than sell him in January for peanuts and our promotion campaign goes tits up. He's a vital element for our return to the Championship. If he stays in the summer, I'll be happy. If he decides to leave for whatever reason, I'll wish him the best of luck. But we must keep him till the summer, that's important.
