Taken at Tutbury Castle in Staffordshire. They have these photography days quite often where people come and dress in period costume as wellas bringing vehicles etc. Small selection here.

Some shots from Coombe Country Park in Coventry, from last Bank Holiday.

Love this one. It's very hard to get good woodland shots for some reason.

Do you ever bother shooting in "raw"?

Thanks mate.:)

Yes I always shoot in Raw. Takes up more space, but I find it gives so much more leeway when editing.

Wot? You mean they're manipulated?!? :P

That's a good point about Raw. Never really thought of the editing advantages.

I started mucking around with Photoshop Elements recently. It's got some great features but I found it a bit slow and clunky. Ended up going back to the free programme that came with Microsoft Office to do basic editing..cropping, rotating, colour balance, brightness and contrast etc...it's really quick and easy to follow

I used Photoshop but for some reason my laptop doesn't like it any more and won't accept my disc. So as it stands, I'm using Picasa and Dynamic HDR 5 to edit all my photos. Not ideal at all but will have to do for the moment until I can get around to getting it again.

MikeyT - I was reading about one of my favourite actors today, Wilfred Hyde-White, and had a look on find-a-grave. There was a photo of his gravestone/memorial taken by yourself.

You get around a bit

Haha yeah that was me. I took one! lol

Also got a few others on there too on that Find A Grave site. Forget who else.

Do you prefer one over the other?

I've got a feeling Photoshop is quite a memory hungry application, certainly for my laptop which is getting on a bit

Well I use Picasa mainly because it converts the Raw files into Jpeg and I don't have any other software that does that. Then I use the other one to just sharpen them up and to give them a bit more clarity. I don't go overboard with it though. See a lot of people that use HD software and their photos no longer resemble a photo at all.

Some people go overboard with video editing in the same way. I reckon the trick with fx & gimmicks is to use them sparingly

Couldn't agree more. :)
