Lovejoy Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 Am looking into getting myself one of these badboys, but are the competitors, from Samsung and LG etc, as good, or better value for money?
Jack Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 Lets be fair, how many times have you video called someone. Does anyone even actually use it ?
the_bowman Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 Lets be fair, how many times have you video called someone. Does anyone even actually use it ? To be perfectly honest, never. I actually like the iPhone, just couldn't pass up this opportunity to use one from my funny pictures repertoire.
Babylon Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 I got the iphone past week and it is pretty amazing... ok I love apple stuff, but the reason for that is the simplicity of everything. Almost anyone can pick up any of their products and use it straight out of the box without needing to read anything or spend hours setting anything up. If you use mms, video calls or use your phone to take high quality pictures rather than a digital camera, you might want to look elsewhere. I don't, so it's perfect for me!! The internet browsing is out of this world compared to any other phone I've tried. I was with 3 before on a £10 a month contract, so jumping up to £35 a month is a big jump... BUT... i'm getting 600 minutes, 500 texts and UNLIMITED internet useage. I've not regretted paying the extra one little bit so far.
dave_the_fox Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 I've had it a month or two, do a search for my topic! I have to say - - - - - BEST PURCHASE EVER ! constantly used, gorgeous screen, great apps the list is endless. I have had the samsung Omnia in my hands, which is supposed to be the iPhones big competitor, and god the screen is dull, the interface is just plain ugly!
Alexikokopops Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 Lets be fair, how many times have you video called someone. Does anyone even actually use it ? I do! Only because it's free though. I got the iphone past week and it is pretty amazing... ok I love apple stuff, but the reason for that is the simplicity of everything. I've not regretted paying the extra one little bit so far. This is the thing. I've got a sweet deal with Vodafone so I'm loath to switching to O2 where I'd pay £10 more a month and get a hell of a lot less for it (apart from the iPhone). Turns out that on the 14th though I can upgrade to a Blackberry Storm for free. That'll do me.
The People's Hero Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 I think the Omnia is fantastic. I just struggle to text on it because I have fingers like Cuban Cigars (ie they are made of tobacco).
Dr The Singh Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 I've got a blackberry and the mrs has the iphone, the iphone is superior by far other then battery life!!!
Alexikokopops Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 I've got a blackberry and the mrs has the iphone, the iphone is superior by far other then battery life!!! Not when you pay £10 less a month and get a lot more for your money
Babylon Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 Not when you pay £10 less a month and get a lot more for your money The £10 is worth it just to know you have the superior phone.
Alexikokopops Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 The £10 is worth it just to know you have the superior phone. Pah! I'll be making video calls every hour of the day on my Storm! Can the Storm make video calls? I really don't know, I'm only getting one of these fancy pants phones because its free. Can it send text messages? I like text messages.
Dr The Singh Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 Not when you pay £10 less a month and get a lot more for your money My blackberry is free, I still would have the iphone!!!
Alexikokopops Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 My blackberry is free, I still would have the iphone!!! Yeah, but on my current deal I pay £25 a month and get unlimited everything, which includes phone calls (peak and off-peak) to UK landlines and mobiles, unlimited video calls, unlimited internet usage, unlimited email downloads, unlimited mobile tv etc, plus it's a month to month contract and I can upgrade every ten months for free. I'd rather pay £25 a month for that and get a free Blackberry Storm than pay £35 a month for a lot less PLUS £95 for the phone at least AND be tied into an 18 month contract when I manage to break phones after about twelve months of having them
Babylon Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 Yeah, but on my current deal I pay £25 a month and get unlimited everything, which includes phone calls (peak and off-peak) to UK landlines and mobiles, unlimited video calls, unlimited internet usage, unlimited email downloads, unlimited mobile tv etc, plus it's a month to month contract and I can upgrade every ten months for free. Alexikokopops Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 Who did you kidnap to get that deal!!!!!!!!!! My sister works for Vodafone. She better not leave, I don't want to have to start paying properly for a phone again
Dr The Singh Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 Yeah, but on my current deal I pay £25 a month and get unlimited everything, which includes phone calls (peak and off-peak) to UK landlines and mobiles, unlimited video calls, unlimited internet usage, unlimited email downloads, unlimited mobile tv etc, plus it's a month to month contract and I can upgrade every ten months for free. Alexikokopops Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 My blackberry is free, no line rental, free internet, email, free calls and txt, overall cost £0 Well then Dr The Singh, you're just a silly bastard!
Dr The Singh Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 Well then Dr The Singh, you're just a silly bastard! And your point is................ Seriously, I don't pay for my phone, it's a company phone, they never make me pay for my calls etc.........so who is silly now!!!!!
Alexikokopops Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 And your point is................Seriously, I don't pay for my phone, it's a company phone, they never make me pay for my calls etc.........so who is silly now!!!!! You, for not using it to the max!
Dr The Singh Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 You, for not using it to the max! Very true, i'm getting bored of ringing those sex lines in vietnam and cambodia................................
Sir Fynwy Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 I've had it a month or two, do a search for my topic! I have had the samsung Omnia in my hands, which is supposed to be the iPhones big competitor, and god the screen is dull, the interface is just plain ugly! The omnia isn't really a competitor to the iphone imo, it's a windows phone and just about anything can be customised on it (I've spent a few hours today playing around with different setups) so the interface can be what you want.
MC Prussian Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 I would love to go for an iPhone, but: a) the battery life is still pathetic b) the touchscreen interface takes time to get used to (I've been using Nokia phones all my life) c) I want an iPhone with more GB (at least 32), so I can put all my iPod stuff on it d) it is pricey
