Thracian Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 That Darren Anderton spent so long earning his living as a professional footballer offers hope to anyone under 30....
Daggers Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 That Darren Anderton earned money from claiming to be a footballer should give hope to one-legged pirates hunting a career move.
City_4_Life Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 He only went and scored an 88th minute winner. Well done Anderton.
Maybes Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 Darren Anderton is a hero. Pretty much love the guy.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 Talent ruined by injury. Great career though, and a brillaint professional.
lildave3 Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 When we went and watched Bournemouth at Notts County earlier this season, you could see he was class. Quality player. Just hadn't got the legs anymore.
The Bear Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 He was the most gutless willy puller I've ever seen in a Wolves shirt. Not suprising when it was his tosser mate Hoddle that signed him. Fair play for his early career though.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 7 December 2008 Posted 7 December 2008 Why did he start the season just to retire a few months in?
Koke Posted 7 December 2008 Posted 7 December 2008 He's a sick note who collected a fortune being in the treatment room. Half decent player, but at the end proved to be a gutless nobody. Must be the only survivor left from the Euro 96 team.
Fosse Boy Posted 7 December 2008 Posted 7 December 2008 Must be the only survivor left from the Euro 96 team. Nope, both Nevilles, Barmby, Campbell and Fowler were all in that squad. Though I guess Anderton appeared more regularly than they did in that tournament.

Must be the only survivor left from the Euro 96 team. He was a decent player in my opinion. There were/are players that had no where near the talent he had and still collected a nice wedge at the end of the day for bench warming, etc. Winston Bogarde springs to mind, £40,000+ per week and he played probably 20 games at the most in 3-4 years he spent at Chelsea, Even at Barcelona I remember him playing on rare occassions and he was earning money just sitting on the bench. Now that guy is someone you can call a gutless nobody, but saying that, more fool the clubs who actually offered him these stupid deals.

act smiley Posted 7 December 2008 Posted 7 December 2008 To be fair, the guy still averaged about 25 games a season. Not quite Lee Morris proportions.
