MC Prussian Posted 19 April 2005 Posted 19 April 2005 Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (now his old name) was head of the modern "inquisition" division, the Belief Congregation (?), in Vatican City. Born on 16th of April, 1927 in Marktl am Inn. Luckily, I am a Protestant. Watch out, you Catholics! This Benedict is a true hard-liner...

I strongly believe that you should be free to believe in what you want.
MC Prussian Posted 19 April 2005 Posted 19 April 2005 Although I was baptized as Protestant, I've never had strong ties to any church. I would consider myself an agnostic. What is agnosticism?
Steven Posted 19 April 2005 Posted 19 April 2005 Although I was baptized as Protestant, I've never had strong ties to any church.I would consider myself an agnostic. What is agnosticism? 95577 From the link to the atheism page. "Losing Faith in Faith:"I have something to say to the religionist who feels atheists never say anything positive: You are an intelligent human being. Your life is valuable for its own sake. You are not second-class in the universe, deriving meaning and purpose from some other mind. You are not inherently evil -- you are inherently human, possessing the positive rational potential to help make this a world of morality, peace and joy. Trust yourself." I can buy into that mind set.
natas Posted 20 April 2005 Posted 20 April 2005 78 years old, good to see the catholic church is looking towards the long term.

Where did you get this information? 95802 the view of contraception being wrong is age old in the catholic church hence why he's sticking with the teaching not that i agree with it... he was a member of the hitler youth but to be fair he was a young man living in nazi germany and was forced to as all the young lads at the time were but he actually fled the hitler youth quite quickly...

Where did you get this information? 95802 he was indeed a member of 'hitler youth' (radio five live info here) but apparently it was the law to be a member of said 'hitler youth' if you agreed with them or not.
Guest Posted 20 April 2005 Posted 20 April 2005 I am not a Catholic, but I hoped that the Catholic Church could be ooverhauled, and dragged kicking and screaming into this present century. Obviously I was wrong. Still, it is God's will after all.....
