Kilworthfox Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Looks like we will be in town at 1, where is best?
SantiagoFox Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Looks like we will be in town at 1, where is best? Plenty of them are shut. Palace on Kirkgate should be open at 12.
Tevez Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Queen's legs seems the best bet pal. What time do they open?
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Queen's legs seems the best bet pal. What time do they open? Shortly after her speach at 3 on Christmas Day?
Simi Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Shortly after her speach at 3 on Christmas Day?
coolcat Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 For anyone interested in real ales..the Adelphi - 5 min walk..turning right outta the train station towards quayside is in top 10 in UK...loads of guest ales on..real big atmospheric pub...and no hasle at all. Scarborough Arms and Prince of Wales outside station can be dodgy(ish)..especially so given that Leicester are one of the big fish in League 1 ...and therefore a crowd of 29,787 at ER. Near Elland Rd is...rubbish!
Shrenchel Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Angel Inn is the one if you're in town. Cheap as fooking biscuits. No ******.
Ultra Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Angel Inn is the one if you're in town. Cheap as fooking biscuits. No ******. Been there before. Would be doing so again if it was a Saturday game.. As I'm coming up by car, may end up in the Dry Salters which is just off the motorway (at the stop after the one for the ground).
Guest Posted 25 December 2008 Posted 25 December 2008 I shall be on Fox Travel, and have no need for a pub.
syston_fox Posted 25 December 2008 Posted 25 December 2008 I shall be on Fox Travel, and have no need for a pub. That's the spirit
Kilworthfox Posted 26 December 2008 Author Posted 26 December 2008 Looks like we will be in town at 1, where is best? I would try The Drysalters. Walk past the Peacock keeping it on your left. Under the railway bridge and its on the left, about 10 minutes walk. Always plenty of away fans in there. There arent many pubs round ER, with it being out of the town centre.

Corky Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 We went in there once. They refused to serve me on account of being female. At least they had a valid reason
Ultra Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 Plenty of women in the Drysalters today. In fact the pub was packed with day-trippers from both sides, taking advantage of the cheap beer prices (£1.85 for a pint of Tetleys ).

Oh, there were plenty of women in there, it's just that they weren't allowed to go to the bar and procur drinks themselves. That is the work, apparently, of menfolk.

Guest Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 Probably because they'd take so long to decide the pub would lose out on plenty of money due to other customers going elsewhere. Are you deliberately setting out to wind me up?
Corky Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 Are you deliberately setting out to wind me up? Not at all. Just having some banter.
Guest Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 Not at all. Just having some banter. I need more wine first.

Ashley Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 I got into the leeds pub called Billys bar on the back of the south stand because I went up with the girlfriend and some of her family are leeds fans and they let us in. We were fine in there untill one of my mates and his dad come in from Leicester " What you doing in here Ash, your not Leeds" How uncomfortable did I feel, seemed like everyone turned round a was staring at me.

AoWW Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 Probably because they'd take so long to decide the pub would lose out on plenty of money due to other customers going elsewhere. I want a divorce.
