Darkzzz_ Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 If you were to do 'internet advance', then two singles to London would be £9 each (though you do have to state the times you're travelling when ordering), and then i'm not sure how much the underground would be, but even so.I've always heard that Selhursts the hardest ground to get to by road, and it didn't seem straight forwards when i went by fox travel I might do Fox Travel. Alex informed me that you have to get the Victoria line through to the station. I planned my trip on national rail and from Kettering you would need to do two change overs. 2 hours or so the journey. Are you going for sure?

I'm not sure yet, depends how much i get paid on friiday. Possibly though

You'd have to get from St Pancras to Victoria on the Underground, so that'd invole buying a day Travelcard for £5.60 (Probably about £4.80 with a Young person's Railcard). I'm not sure if this includes travel between Victoria and Thornton Heath. Don't think so, although I could be wrong. That's £3.10 for an off-peak return (with a YP railcard). So you'd have to add about £8 onto travel to London to actually get around.
Bert Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 This is what i can't decide. Is it really as bad as people make out to get to by car? If you're driving, drive to Stanmore, as it is quite bad, it's South London, you have to go round the back of the M25. It's less hassle, about £8 on the tube, £3 to park your car, the tubes run way into the night too.

If you buy an Oyster Card for a £3 deposit it'll cost you £3.70 on the way there and £2.20 on the way back. I total of £8.90, but then similar trips will be a lot less (£4.40 there and back for a Saturday London match). Source
syston_fox Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 I suppose I should start thinking about this one really.... got the time off work now which is a start....!

Alexikokopops Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 I've got a railcard, so it's £4.80 for me, assuming prices haven't gone up. They have done, on the 2nd January. If you register your Oyster Card with your YP railcard it caps at a lower price so you'll never pay more than the equivalent travelcard but it's a bit more effort obviously.
Maybes Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Why dont you just get a ticket to selhurst ? Then it includes the underground.

I've not got an oyster card. I'll still get 1/3 off the full price anyway so it's all good. The pre-season friendly it was £4.80 to get to Thornton Heath.

Just saying it might be worth getting one if you're going to enough matches there, because you'll never pay more than the price of a travel card and often pay less. You just have to pay the £3 deposit. Just something to think about Anyway, I have no idea what's happening anymore, all I know is it's costing me less than a fiver (I'm using this opportunity to gloat since it usually costs me at least £20 to get to home matches )

Bert Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 I don't know if I mentioned it but this is costing me less than a fiver to get to... Really? That's ok 'cos it's like a home game for you, and home games don't cost me anything to get to.
Alexikokopops Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Really? That's ok 'cos it's like a home game for you, and home games don't cost me anything to get to. Trumped once more
Uncle Albert Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 How much will the Tube cost if we haven't got a Railcard or Oyster card?
Ashley Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 How much will the Tube cost if we haven't got a Railcard or Oyster card? £5 All day. Well it was when I went on the train for Orient for a all day pass.
Uncle Albert Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 £5 All day. Well it was when I went on the train for Orient for a all day pass. Nice one. Ben when you went Fulham what was that offer you Joe, Andy and your Dad got? £9 or something if I can remember.
Joe. Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 If you work it out there's actuall no discount if you use that group discount thing. It'd be much simpler if everybody just bought their own tickets tbh.
lildave3 Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Nice one.Ben when you went Fulham what was that offer you Joe, Andy and your Dad got? £9 or something if I can remember. I don't know tbh, we just asked for an adult and 4 childs tickets and she came up with £9.
Alexikokopops Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 How much will the Tube cost if we haven't got a Railcard or Oyster card? Anything from £5.60 upwards for a day travelcard or £4 for a single journey. Where are you planning to travel on the tube?
Uncle Albert Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Anything from £5.60 upwards for a day travelcard or £4 for a single journey. Where are you planning to travel on the tube? Stanmore to Thornton Heath i'm lead to believe.
Alexikokopops Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Stanmore to Thornton Heath i'm lead to believe. It'll cost you £7.50 for an off-peak day travelcard (zones 1-6) without a railcard (according to this, page 6 (4 of 13)). That's the cheapest option, it's not worth doing anything else
